The worst is feeling lonely when you’re surrounded by people.
I would rather go live on a mountain alone with my dog then continue feeling unsupported and lonely with the people I’m around.

Finding true love begins with Loving yourself. You must know that you are whole, complete and do not need another human being to complete you.
Then you will recognize and attract people who are vibrating at the same frequency.
Your life is a mirror. You will only attract that which you are on the inside.
    Love attracts love.
Two halves will never make a whole.
You attract your soulmate by becoming your soulmate.

Eckhart's ability to show us how to gently laugh at ourselves in the midst of mental turmoil is brilliant. Thank you so much for drawing me out of the tyranny of my mind!

I've spent so long on my own now that it seems more natural and comfortable than being around people. I'm not sure that's a good thing but for now, that's the way it is. I sleep well without worry, I enjoy my breakfast and my little roll-ups(tobacco) with my cups of tea and coffee (mostly decaf), I walk, I exercise, I have TV, I have TH-cam, I can sit quietly and enjoy peace and quiet, I have music if I want it. These things fill my day. Life isn't very happy, but it can be content, and who knows what's around the corner?

Really cool answer Belinda. That's original. It's poetic. I have a slightly different take. "The stars in the sky are a beautiful reflection of the One who loves me. He is the One who created the stars. He is the One that loves you and I more than we could ever imagine." Take care and be blessed, my friend.

I'm glad Eckhart now says yin and yang and not necessarily physical male and female. In The Power Of Now he talks about how we need partnership with the opposite sex to be complete. Partnership which completes the yin/yang balance - much better and more liberal and realistic since gender and sexuality are so diverse.

If you feel lonely during quarantine turn off the TV and social media and go within. Commune with yourself and the spirits and the angels. They are all listening and are the best friends you could ever wish for. They know you inside and out.

That is fine for a while and then you are experience suffering again then you find something else, etc. It is so true. We look for new relationships, jobs, homes, friends, and so on - Being aware enough to look within at that moment and find the real source of suffering

Loneliness is our natural motivator to move us toward what we need. If we get sidetracked using electronic media, we will never move in the direction we need to go to find companionship. We just need to put down the phone and get out into places where people still socialize. There are still a few.

  • @SuperNashum

Thats exactly what happened to me: the Life has created the circumstances of an unbearable suffering and I was forced to look into it instead of running away and finding distraction. I came to the realisation that the old way of living simply doesn't work anymore and I had 2 choices: to stop living or start a new living. Like this my journey began 2 years ago. I passed the tough time of rollercoaster because I was very motivated to reduce suffering and I was open to all kind of experiences that Life brought to me.
Avoiding the suffering creates more suffering.

Follow what makes you feel happy, follow what makes you feel inspired, follow what grounds you and brings you joy. All else follows.
I have traveled the world alone and felt this extreme, extreme disconnect. What solved this for me was taking myself to film from my home country, taking warm showers, a teddy bear and being held by a companion.

I had 2 dogs & 2 cats, but over the yrs they’ve passed. Now I have 1 cat. I’m ok, but sometimes I wish I knew others, maybe some ppl dealing w/ their own health issues.

Aloneness and silence are two aspects of one experience, two sides of the same coin. If one wants to experience silence one has to go into one´s total aloneness. It is there.
We are born alone, we die alone. Between these two realities we create a thousand and one illusions of being together - all kinds of relationships, friends and enemies, loves and hates, nations, races, religions. We create all kinds of hallucinations just to avoid one fact: that we are alone. But whatsoever we do, the truth cannot be changed. It is so, and rather than trying to escape from it, the best way is to rejoice in it.
Rejoicing in your own aloneness is what meditation is all about. The meditator is one who dives deep into one´s aloneness, knowing that we are born alone, we will be dying alone, and deep down we are living alone. So why not experience what this aloneness is? It is our very nature, our very being.
    - Osho

We are not born alone, we are born of others, and sadly we only die alone if we stand in isolation, accepting connections is one way of unplugging loneliness, to me loneliness is a parking bay for the mind, when you're done parking you'll back out and drive off again.

    • @MegaOtherself
      @MegaOtherself 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

You are speaking on the level of form , a mind based consciousness, while Ramesh (quoting Osho) is speaking about the essence of Being. Two different level of consciousness; not to say that both cannot be integrated; the essence of being can always be there , whether in a parking bay or driving off into a sunrise or a sunset or whatever...

poppy cee ...I AGREE WITH YOU 100%. I cannot tolerate people that say this all the time that we are born alone and die Alone. We are born with our loving parents and our first embrace is through their loving touch and held in safety. If we die Alone, it can be for many different reasons, but we shouldn't have die Alone. We are meant to love and be loved. It's horrible being alone. We all need to change it if this has crossed our path.

And yet while the opportunities for friendships exist, maintaining them can be excruciating for me. And the realization that I could alleviate the pain makes the situation even more desolate. I am considering a pet (cat, dog, rabbit) to force (in a way I would not mind) me to become social.

There's no worse feeling than not being able to say what you think to the people around you. I know that feeling all too well. It's better to just be alone for a while and learn to accept it. Then, maybe, you can come back with more courage to be yourself and let people reject you. I think that fear of rejection is what really makes people feel alone. You end up faking a persona so that people will not reject you, and then the people that like you like your persona, not you. Or at least that's how you end up feeling about it. Maybe they do like the real you underneath, but then if that's true, you end up feeling that they are violating you because you haven't shown that to them on purpose. Then you push back even harder with the walls of persona so that eventually the walls are so thick and so high that no one can get in no matter how loving and accepting they are of the real, authentic, vulnerable you that they see underneath.
People go to unimaginable lengths to create personas that they think people will like. Some latch onto your persona with theirs and you both fake it, but some people end up liking the real you that you think you keep hidden, and you never are really able to separate the wheat from the chaff. Then everybody seems like an enemy that doesn't really know you, and you end up blaming them for not seeing past the walls of your persona that YOU built. I should speak for myself though. This is me. I am incapable of relationships at this moment in life. I must work on myself 100%

The prisoner throws a temper when they are asked to go in solitary confinement while the Monk gets excited to go in Solitary Confinement. When you feel Lonely i would say take this time to value the time with yourself so you can go back in the world as a better version of yourself.

Is it really that bad to be lonely or are not happy with yourself?
What is inside of you that your running away from. The only cure is through it. How do get rid of fear by steping to it. Id invite you to Accept your self and how u feel. Notice any judgment or resistance to it. Keep feeling it one step at a time eventually it will pass. Only if u stay consistent. Head up champ you got this 👊

I can totally relate to all that this man was saying. I have gone through a LOT of emotional sufferings brought on my childlike trust in people. At 69 yrs old, I decided to start a new life where people are generally happy - not so much a dog-eat-dog society as was my experience living in Nth. America. No friends or relatives. Although there are many activities that I could do and groups to belong to, I am no longer motivated to do those because I am enjoying and loving my solitude. It’ll probably turn my brain into tofu, but that’s ok, too. I have life’s life to its fullest.

I have balked at awakening, at truly giving up ego, for decades. As my life has wasted away, God (I am Christian) has ramped up my suffering horribly (loss of mental and physical health, homelessness, divorce, estrangement from children). I feel like I am one of the actors at the end of the classic movie, "Papillon," and that I must eventually choose decisively between risking death to obtain spiritual freedom or slinking back to the dungeon of spiritual sleep. The suffering is the prodding of the universe to grow, and the price we pay for refusing to grow.

If not enough suffering for yourself, then suffering of others...humans, animals, Earth. Through seeing the immense suffering of animals via humans and our factory farming, animal testing is enough for me to suffer for them emotionally. I am motivated to help liberate animals via being a present human being conscious of animals pain. Naturally others have come to me to ask about transitioning to a plant based diet and then that brought me to getting educated on nutrition/animals/environment.

happend to me ,that in order to be free of a certain amount of suffering that was causing me huge health problems ,i had really to let go . and there is no book or spiritual teacher telling you ,how to do it. you must figure it out yourself .cause its unique way for every being here. and to decide to let go i had to reach a very very low point . was like a death . my desicion was : take me away home ,or let me live a good life. :) but that was like diyng inside . other fears reach me in the last years and probably when i will hit the ground again ....i WILL KNOW...IT'S TIME TO RISE AGAIN .

feminine/gynergy is spirtually passive and receives spirituality more easily. Masculinity must strive and work through giving to achieve this same connection to spirituality. I believe all valid spiritual teachings acknowledge this.

    • @aspalathos8499
      @aspalathos8499 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

There is no passive and active spirituality. Women are emphatic, intuitive, they are processing emotions better. So men need women as an advisors in life and in work. Also as an maternal figure in the world. Everyone needs a women. But men are more competetive, want to prove something in this world but women don't have that need because they know who they are. They are living day to day life knowing who they are. It is not that woman is a passive, she just doesn't have a need to prove something because she is enough, sure who she is in this world, nature. She has emotional, sexual power and gives new life. So I am not surprised that women are in bigger numbers at this kind of events at all!

    WALK
“To be away from home and yet to feel oneself everywhere at home…”
    - Charles Baudelaire on the Flâneur
The way you walk is your walk.
From a great distance, you can recognise your mum or brother by the shape of their walk, a mile away.
Your walk is your DNA in motion.
Your walk is your spirit saddling your body like a horse and taking it for a ride.
When you meet someone for the first time and they walk towards you,
you witness their vulnerability though the nakedness of space -
you see their whole body unconsciously attempt to own the earth in the face of impossibility.
It's why when you see someone with a swagger, or a
    rehearsed
    dance
    move,
it gives you a sense of sorrow.
These are moves for an earth unowned, a life unlived.
But it's why a walking conversation with a good friend is one of
    the loveliest things possible.
    And you are never alone.
    Not alone at all.
If you want to summon the familiarity of your spirit, all you have to do is
    walk the earth.
Even if it's down to the shops.

When I am alone for a few days there is no chattering of people in my ears when I go to bed. After a while I sense that there is a feeling of some stranger in the room. It turns out this stranger is the body and the human being connected to it. That means that through this isolated space it becomes possible to sense your own human nature as something apart from yourself - yourself being absolute awareness (the all seeing eye, the ultimate observer, the formless consciousness, the I behind the event horizon). So strictly speaking you are not alone. Getting settled in spirituality might take time. Easily 10 years and majoring will go on ask long as we life in this body. It would also be nice to live a normal life but that is not for us to decide. Some say that awakening is grace, you could also say it is a compulsion. Anyway if you grow in wisdom you will become more and more comfortable with being alone.

fluffleSings I’ve had 13 years stuck at home having been pensioned off with ongoing physical health problems. There’s only so much time being alone in my flat that is tolerable. I lost my partner the year I retired.
Please don’t tell me to go and join a book club or the like. If I was well enough to do that I’d be well enough to work! I have spinal arthritis, and after 30 years as a teacher I am now more or less alone. I have days when I relish being alone and having space, but I also have many days when I’m far too isolated and things are out of balance. I don’t believe human beings were made to be alone for long periods of time, caused by circumstances beyond their control. There are a lot of people - particularly the old - who find themselves alone and lonely. We should be as mindful of our need to belong and to interact, as we are of our need to spend some time alone.
