There are reasons why rifles in .50bmg are so heavy and cost as much as a brand new Polaris slingshot) (Second edit; holy guacamole, folks this was *not* meant to be rage bait. Commence the jigglin'. Cartoony really works for it. The mechanical aesthetic is pretty grounded, but the concept has a very Team Fortress 2 feel to it.

If you pause and go frame by frame right after the hammer hits the striker. you can see the entire "contraption" do the cartoon high pressure hose effect, or the big thing in pipe effect.
You do realize that the Welrod had two variants, right? It wasn't just the version with the grip also serving as the magazine for it, there was a single shot version.

With so little to keep it in place the cartridge will rupture before all the powder is burned, and what's left of the pressure would be spread pretty much everywhere instead of down a barrel. For this specific case I think I'd be more afraid of the flying bits.
or maybe an orcish character who is a barbarian has a dwarven friend, the orcish character wants a ranged weapon that can rip enemies apart, but obviously wants their own strength to still play a role, and so the dwarven friend comes up with this... and the orc can control the heavy recoil because obviously they are big and buff as a barbarian 😂

Doing this will likely destroy the gun (and you, if you're close enough). You can find videos of others trying this online if anyone is curious.
Shotgun barrels are made of very mild steel. Do not attempt this, you will be seriously injured.
