Geoff's wife, Kathy, is the Production Manager for both VoicePlay and Geoff's solo channel. She is awesome. Be sure to check out Geoff's recent "Song of Durin." Kathy was heavily involved (even more than normal) behind the scenes in that one. She makes another cameo in a VoicePlay video soon.
Thanks for your reaction! Mykal (pronounced like "Michael") Kilgore was a member back when they were '4theLove', a quartet they formed in high school in 1997. They added Scott Porter as their beatboxer and changed the name of their group to '4-2-Five'. Mykal left the group to pursue a career on Broadway and Scott Porter left the group to pursue an acting career in Hollywood (Both of them have been very successful). They regrouped with Tony Wakim and Eli Jacobson (Layne started doing the beatboxing) and changed the name of their group to 'Voice Play' around 2012. They are working on a cover now so we will see Mykal again in the near future as a featured guest. Halloween is coming and solo Geoff and Voice Play have some amazing spooky themed releases planned.
Mykal (Michael) Kilgore was a founding member with Geoff, Layne and Earl 1997- 2002 in the name "4thelove". The name changed to "4:2: Five" when Scott Porter joined in 2000. Mykal left in 2002 for a very successful Broadway career. And still going strong. Other than "Just Sing" this is the first video they collaborated in. Voiceplay posted their Halloween video on their Patreon a few days ago. It is absolutely fun yet scary.
the green to red transition you were wondering about, is all Eli's work. he has all the individual lights and smoke effects connected to an automation program, and programs them all to turn on/off, switch colours, higher/lower intensity, etc at specific points in the song, so that they always are the exact same in every single take, making it easier for them to edit the video afterwards. so in this transition his program turned all the lights from green to red at that exact moment, including the lights that are lighting up the smoke geysirs.
Mykal is a Grammy-nominated Broadway performer and a founding member of 4TheLove, which eventually became 4:2:Five and finally, VoicePlay. (His name is pronounced like Michael.) - Editing to add: He was also in VoicePlay's cover of Just Sing, if you've ever seen that one.
For that change to the red lighting at '...Sniff without me', that would be Eli's responsibility. He programs all of VoicePlay's lighting onto the computer, not just for multiple changes of lights at the same precise time, but also so they can film different takes, yet always have the lighting match at exactly the same spot in the song. For this video the fog geysers are also part of his programming, so they go off together.
Mykal (Michael) sang with Layne, Geoff and Earl in their barbershop quartet 4theLove just out of high school in the late '90s, even before Scott Porter joined them as beatboxer and they became 4:2Five. He left for Broadway and has apparently done well there, so you might have seen him from there. But certainly, you have seen him on VP's "Just Sing" as one of the singers performing long-distance. Alternatively, he apparently has been nominated for a Grammy, so maybe there?
Mykal was with the group originally, as tenor one and Earl, of the laser like tenor, was tenor two. You probably remember Mykal from Just Sing, but he’s also been on Broadway so maybe you saw h something about him in connection with that. You picked a good time to return to them. Halloween is their favorite season !
I'm going to request that you consider reacting to VoicePlay's cover of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel". I really love the way they made it their own, but still gave us little hints of MJ. They did it with DeeJay Young and his voice and delivery is just perfect for it. It's kind of a bit jazzy and I think one of their best. I've been listening to it over and over most of the summer. And for your info, Geoff just released "Song of Durin" to add to his Dwarven Trilogy from The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings. It is beautifully done.
Mykal was featured in "Just Sing" by VoicePlay. Also, if you go back to Geoff roar near the end make sure you read the caption/subtitles. You're welcome 😂.
Glad to see you back with VoicePlay!! I've missed your reactions to them, they're always so fun. Hope everything's going well with all the hurricane issues you had to deal with. ❤
I love this interpretation/expression of Be Prepared by Voiceplay! I enjoyed you exploring and reacting to different music, but I'm also glad for more Voiceplay! I'm a little surprised that you haven't reacted to any of The Bass Gang, and I hope you get around to them soon. Interestingly, they and Voiceplay do some of the same songs, including this some, but I prefer not to "compare" them because to me, they're simply different interpretations that play to each group's skills and "personality."
when referring to kids, quadruplets - in music, quartet. lol And beware. .... not only are you going to be stunned when their Halloween release comes out, you need to go back and do Total Eclipse of the Heart, and The Way You Make Me Feel.
Nice to see you back to VP & Geoff! I missed your reactions to them! But now I'm looking forward to you "catching up"! 😁(No pressure! just happy to see you again 🥰) Oh, and Eli does the lights. He uses a software that connects to the audio tracks, so he can program it exactly when to switch/change, etc.
Mykal can be seen in Just Sing. Do the captions to find out what he has been in Broadway. He was an original until he left for Broadway. The video and audio didn't match just a few seconds off. Never had your's do that before. Both VoicePlay and your computer when you were talking was the same.

You’re going to flip out over this year’s Halloween song. It’s EPIC!
Ooooh, it so is! TRULY EPIC! I wouldn't have believed that cover could happen if anyone told me. But hey, it's VoicePlay! 💙

It's another one of VoicePlay's amazing productions. I love it.
Mykal was in 'Just Sing" and you can see some of his background in the captions. Really looking forward to their next collab with him.

I'm happy to be back! I'm doing much better now! I got my power back and I'm back in the swing of things! Thank you so much for asking! ❤
they are so much fun!
Some of Mykal's credits are listed in the VoicePlay video Just Sing. Keep the captions turned on.
Mykal was in VoicePlay's "Just Sing" video. If you haven't seen it, you should! VERY IMPORTANT to leave the CC on with it! Fun reaction, thank you!💙
Nice to see you back! Thanks for a great reaction.
I was looking forward to your reaction.

Layne is the warthog. Cesar, Mykal, & Eli are the hyenas. Cesar, not Layne, is the daft hyena who isn't quite all there.
Liked your reaction!😊
Glad to see you back!!you have missed me a lot of new releases lately!! Welcome back 😊😊

You need to go back and react to voiceplay’s cover of “The way you make me feel”. They have been nominated for a Grammy 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤
