All great ideas. I gave a lot to our local multicultural centre. Along with needles I don’t use for those immigrants who knit but have no supplies. ❤️

Regarding collars being too loose, several people I know are doing provisional cast on for the start and knitting the sweater for several inches. Then, depending on the construction of the sweater go back at another point and take out the provisional stitches and knit the collar/neck and that they like. They do this before aNy necessary trying on so that the partial sweater will sit properly for a length measurement.

Thank you for the tip on picking up and knitting the yoke ribbing after the rest of the sweater, I'd never thought of that before! My daughter and I are loving your podcasts and going back and watching ones we hadn't yet seen together. :)

Arg!! Wished I had watched this when it first got launched!! My local knitting friends did a yarn swap last weekend and we could have sent the unwanted yarn to Hedgehog. Oh well. Next time. Thanks for the link. So many helpful suggestions in today's question. The too-large collar is a big problem for me so really appreciate the suggestion to pick it up at the end.

Too long, NO WAY! Could not watch it until Monday/today, so missed out on the pattern sale. 😥 It's all good.
I used your recommendation for knitting a ribbed bind-off with larger needles; it worked great!
Definitely going to use your tip re: including the skein wrapper in the cake and weighing the remainder at the end of a project.
Thank you for continuing these 'talks'! I get excited the notification pops up. Have you ever done any in-person events? If not, would consider it? 🥰🥰

I haven’t finished watching this video yet but another use for sweater leftovers is to make a cowl or fingerless mitts with the leftovers. You will have a coordinating accessory.

I am so glad that you’ll be continuing this series, I’ve really enjoyed watching your answers to these questions. Some things I never thought of, pulling from the outside! My grandma taught me to pull from inside and I assumed everyone did. I like having the yarn ‘stable’ and watching the cake collapse. Although I like your storage idea with the ball band so I might have to give that a try.

I loved seeing some of your favorite patterns! There’s just something about seeing knits in movement as opposed to just static in pictures, and I love hearing the stories behind their creation. Maybe you could highlight a different pattern each episode? This episode sold me on the Range shawl. Thanks for the 25% off!!

As for your name I like DreaRenee Studio Chats...love love love these videos, super informational and I feel like I'm watching/learning from a friend. P.S. your patterns are my absolute favorite! I'm getting ready to cast on birds of a feather and the Weekender (my first sweater/second garment) Once I get that done i will definitely be doing Wool & Honey!! (just need to get my sweater making feet wet first) Thanks for the discount!

Loving your Q&A sessions and so glad they will be continuing! I remember reading an article about pulling from the centre or outside of your yarn cake a while ago. The twist is affected by how you pull your yarn combined with your knitting style i.e continental or English. It’s to do with the direction the plys are twisted together during the spinning of the yarn. I knit continental and pull from the centre (which I prefer anyway) and avoid yarn barf by winding each ball twice. I also heard this is better for the yarn if you don’t use it for a while as it’s under less tension when you store it.

Hi Andrea! Thank you for doing these! always informative and a joy to "see" you.
I don't think you need to do anything fancy for your title. I tend to overthink things and for these, I would keep it simple for your sanity :)... it could be very similar to what you are already doing.
Say you are doing one video a month, then it could be June Q & A or June '21 Q & A, for example. And when you start back into a KAL follow the format you did for March to May!

These are so much fun. I look forward to knitting with you for each one. My mind is blown with the idea that I can do a colorwork yolk, then go back and knit the collar. I’ve only made two and will absolutely try this next time. The fine tuning that allows for makes such sense. Thank you.

Great episode Andrea. I have learned so much from you. I hope you keep them coming no matter what you call your channel. I once heard that it is best to pull from outside cake because it twists the yarn less. Also it was said it is best to wind your yarn in an old fashioned ball and then it won't have any added twist to it which makes total sense to me. However since I am always in a hurry, I use my ball winder.😁

Re: small yarn leftovers - I have made 3 of The Shift pattern, and on 2 of them I just used various sock yarn scraps. I changed the colors whenever (at the end of a row), and they turned out great. In fact I made the 2nd one to give away and a friend loved it and wanted one just like it, hence the 3rd Shift. Plus it's just a fun pattern, so I will probably round up some scraps and make another to give away. Currently making Vertices Unite with leftovers.
