    #dji #djiair3 #review
    A full review of the main features and functions of the new DJI Air 3, walking through the dual camera and listing what I see as the pros and cons of this new model from DJI. I go through the sensor size, what you get in the full Air 3 RC 2 Combo Package and why I think it's a good drone to buy. I do a first flight test, showing the APAS Obstacle Avoidance Mode in Bypass & Brake mode, and go through the main safety settings when first flying the drone. I take it for its first flight and show the incredible speed of this new drone including a fastest speed, fastest ascent and fastest descent speed test and a small wind test. And then I go through the main points on why I bought this drone.

      IT IS A STACKED BACK ILLUMINATED SENSOR WHICH DOESN’T COMPARE TO THE AIR 2S NEVER BU FOOTAGE QUALITY OR FLIGHT TIME. THIS DRONE SMOKES THE AIR 2S AND MINI 3 PRO FOR FOOTAGE QUALITY AND WITH PRETTY MUCH ALL THE FEATURES FROM THE AIR 3 SERIES….. SORRY

    You chose the right word, Ian-EXHILARATING! That is my feeling when flying the Air 3 which I have had now for 8 days. Mini 2. Mini 3 Pro. And now the Air 3. They all fly well, but the power of the Air 3 by comparison nearly gives a feeling of whiplash. I owe much to you for what you have taught me beginning with the Mini 2. I enjoyed this video and look forward to more of your content featuring the Air 3 and all of your drones. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A.

    Great video , I do feel your ones are a lot more genuine rather then other TH-cams which are clearly sponsored or giveaways . Were they clearly trying to avoid some of the small negatives when comparing to previous models etc etc . I look forward to seeing some of your next videos . Personally for me at the moment due to UK laws I will be sticking to the Mavic 3 pro . as it falls into the same category ...

    Same size sensors, but not the same sensors. DJI Air 3 has stacked sensors , which outs the circuits behind 2 other light sensitive layers. Huge difference!

    I’m enjoying my new Air 3! The battery is fantastic compared to my Air 2s and the signal strength is PHENOMENAL!!
    Did some testing this morning and I got over half a mile more range than I do with the Air 2s before I lose connection. For context I’m flying around my city area and my home is surrounded by trees. I get around 2500 ft before losing signal with my Air 2s and I’m getting almost 5000ft before losing signal with the Air 3

      @belekas2729 You can make the money the Air 3 costs in two weeks or less. For the money this is a fire drone. I would hold it up against my mavic two pro most days. By both, you always need a backup. That's exactly why I kept my air2 and air 2s.

    great video thx! was wondering why no one else on you tube has pointed out that the different obstacle avoidance modes change flight behavior which does seem to be weird as isn't it the main flight modes that effect its flight behavior? and obstacle avoidance is just whether or not it stops or try's to find is way around objects. and when it does make it way around obstacles it does it slow and smooth so why would its flight characteristics be jerky? lastly is the obstacle avoidance settings universal for all flight modes or is there one for manual flight and one for autonomous flight? thx for all your time!

    Hi Ian, I had my Air 3 delivered last week and what with work and crap weather, I have not managed to have a proper flight, apart from a couple of take offs and landings in my small garden, just to test it out! Even though the sensor is the same as the Mini 3 Pro, which I am now selling.. as long as I can get past all the scammers! It is enhanced and all the footage I have seen of it looks amazing! Can't wait for my first flight. The Isle of Wight can be very windy so I'm PATIENTLY waiting for a safe first flight! Look forward to your next test vids! love your channel, honest and down to earth! 🙂

    Great first test day. You probably should buy the Master airscrew props if the noise pitch is annoying, the big boy Mavic 3 is literally half the pitch with the upgrade props. Even if you loose a couple of minutes due to softer props it's really good. Interesting about the C1 drama in the UK, it will be handy for sure when they figure it out. It was the very first thing I did on my Mavic 3 purchase.

    Great to see an honest, rather than sponsored / gifted review finally, but as mainly a stills shooter I'm not convinced with the backward sensor move and will hold on to my cash for the inevitable 3S. I'll enjoy my 2S in the meantime.
    DJI seems to have hit a habit of either compromising on, or dropping the ball on, launches since the Air 2S. Every time I think I'm going to pull the trigger on either an upgrade or addition - from the Mini 3 Pro to the Mavic 3 and then the Mavic 3 Pro, there's always been a 'but'. Air 2S for me was the last home run they hit on launch. And don't get me started on the seemingly impending redundancy of my expensive RC Pro moving forward.....
    Thanks for the video though and looking forward to following your journey with the Air 3 👍

    I've got the Air 3 to go alongside my Mini 2. Very big jump up in every way. Very pleased with camera quality. Only gripe is in Pro mode, you have to adjust the shutter speed every time you switch lenses because of the different apertures.

    Hello Ian, thanks for this video. I'm waiting for more videos to come. I am sure it´s a great drone. Living in the EU, the C1 label is perfect for me as it's almost on par with 250g drones in terms of restrictions. I love my Mini 3, but the next drone will be a "real drone". I won't be buying the Air 3 right now but I'm hoping the Air 3S (pro) will launch soon. If I spend >1500 euros, then I would like to have a 1-inch sensor with a variable aperture - which I asume will have the Air 3S.

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fair points and I'm very envious of your C1 freedoms 🤠

    • @phix1742
      @phix1742 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes labels/rules also have advantages😁. Actually, the Air 3's C1 label is a big reason for me to buy this drone, I guess the Air 2S will never get that label. The second most important feature is of course the tele camera along with the night mode. And yes, side sensors are very welcome too. Ocusync 4 seems to have a much better penetration too. The only thing I'm not really happy with is the noise of 81 dB...I am sure it ill be the perfect drone for me with - as said - with the 1 inch sensor and variable aperture hopefully to come with the Air 3S (some say an Air 3S will never come....).

    Another great vid, Ian. I'm still buzzin' around with my Air 2. Considered an Air 2S, but now the Air 3 is out, I am considering that. It would be a step-up in sensor size from the Air 2. I am also considering a Mini 3 Pro for the ease of travel and limited regulations. I fly for personal stuff and fun, although I am licensed for commercial and would like to do some drone work. Any thoughts on upgrading to one of these, 2S, Air 3 or Mini 3 Pro? I was hoping to move back to the UK but just accepted a position in Italy, so may be going there in a couple months. Thanks!

    * Not found any information on how long it will take to charge all three batteries when installed in the hub and of interest when charged in the drone DJI says the power is limited to 65w and therefore expect an 80 minute charge time.

    Hello, great video. I’m considering buying a DJI Air 3 and I’d like to know how reliable the obstacle sensors are. Are they trustworthy enough to truly rely on them to prevent any impact, or is it advised to fly the drone being extremely careful with potential collisions, using the sensors only as an additional aid? I get that they might not detect thin wires or branches, but regarding larger objects they’re supposed to avoid, are they 100% reliable or are there instances where they aren’t? I’m asking because if the sensors are only 70% reliable and fail 30% of the time, I might be better off getting a DJI Mini 3, which is cheaper and lacks sensors. Thank you very much!

A shame no aperture control and a wait till November or later for the set of ND filters (would the £80.00 for the filters help pay for aperture control). Optical zoom would have also been nice the digital zoom soon starts to show image degradation. On my last flight I also noted the lens is good at picking up "lens flare" perhaps more so with the large lens area? Other than that I like my latest drone. "Optical zoom is accomplished by moving parts within a camera lens. The glass elements inside of a zoom lens move back and forth creating different relative focal lengths. When zooming in, the focal length increases and the opposite is true when zooming out. Optical zoom does not incur quality loss in the image, though zoom lenses are frequently a bit less sharp than equivalent prime lenses due to their internal components."

    Very interesting video. All of the significant advances in the Air 3 are why I will probably be a buyer when the Air 3S comes out, with all of the advances but without the backward step(s). For now I'm sticking with my Air 2S. It doesn't have waypoints, but I can do a much more sophisticated waypoint mission using DroneLink, or for a quick and dirty waypoint mission, using Red Waypoint Pro.
    I'm glad you mentioned the reveal shots you can do with the faster Air 3 ascent speed. However, my Air 2S can do reveal shots in the mountains that the Air 3 will never be able to do, because it is possible to remove DJI's max height above takeoff point restriction in the Air 2S, but not in the Air 3. Since DJI, like pretty much all drones, only uses height above takeoff point and not above ground level at the drone's current location, you run into a brick wall when following the landscape up when flying in the mountains. In my area, you need to be about 3,000 feet above your takeoff point to do a reveal shot over the peaks. At 1,600 feet above the takeoff point, all you get is "Look! Rocks!"
    I will look forward to your future Air 3 videos. You always do a great job of explaining features and configurations.
