It's easy for fatshark to have great customer support when they charge so much for the initial pair they could give you two replacements and still turn a profit.
So, I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting for somebody to put the 16:9 OLED 0.51" Sony/Kopin displays (identical vertical FOV to the HDO's) into a goggle, to run with 4:3 cameras. Really starting to get frustrating that nobody is willing to get those and bundle them into a goggle. Since I'm on a Clearview GS too, I wouldn't even care about the other features, just need the screens in the right place withough light leakage, brightness/contrast adjust, and AV In. I'd love to have features that make sense (On/Off switch, Fan switch with an AUTO mode, good DVR with autorecord, module bay with beefy 5V regulator, accessible microSD, AV in, and Audio out ports), and I'd happily pay $700 for goggles with all of those, but until then I'm going to keep rocking $250 goggles too, since the screens are the only stupid things that matter while you're flying, and even the cheap old FlySights have better practical menu integration.
Did they call them v1s to try and tie into the HQ prop marketing? The branding seems a bit bizarre. All your criticisms seem valid, they have changed things which didn’t need changing and not fixed any of the issues which bugged users. I really don’t understand 😐 You say that fat shark is lazy and I agree, but aomway has done the same thing
@@TheRCAddict Good, but the front camera in version X is not useless. I have Sky02S and sometimes tha camera helps, it has a fairly good resolution, and I personally think that Skyzone was partly famous for its front cameras.
remember the sky02c doesnt have velcro on the faceplate or a supercap so if you pull the power so you lose your footage and has a smaller FOV. they may have be been lazy with this one but i still think they are a better choice than the skyzones. thats my 2c
I totally share your opinion about fatshark but still own a pair of hd3s from them (Nothing better out there imho for our small market :-/) But I always put them on with disgust
Seriously, get Sky02C. I'd be surprised if you don't love them more in nearly every way. Also look out for the new Sky03O (OLED) model coming out (hopefully) next week. Sky03O is 4:3 though.
I came from the same direction not having a big fan of the fatshark brand but probably saw LeDrib's video about his goggles he was using then. Skyzone 02C is now for me the next step forward. Currently im using their Sky02 v2 still pretty happy with my two years old choice. The only one thing im missing is the fan. You will not regret it if you go for the 02C.
for you they need to Decrease the IPD if you are closer together, for me I have the opposite I need them to increase it as 69 is not enough, my only options was the aomway v2 or the eachine EV200Ds, I went with the 200Ds as they were much cheaper and fit my big head.
I've been rocking the v1's for a year now. Love em for the most part. I tried a set of Fatshark goggles from a friend. I was not a fan of the 4 by 3. Couldn't fly right. My spatial awareness was very disorienting. I'm sticking with the v1's for awhile. Until I know I'm getting something I like.
Bro im pissed too! I love my Aomway v1 and was super hopeful for the V1S but then when i read the spec list i about lost my mind. It's almost like they dont want to compete with Skyzone and Fatshark for the best goggle. Idk. Sucks for aomways consumers...
I know it's a older goggle but I like and use the flysight fg02 got em around Christmas for 240 and slapped a rapid fire in em been good for over a year
First of great review and honesty! Much appreciated 👍. What modifications did you all make to your V1? Also what did you do to increase the clearity and distance you get out of your V1 goggles? I changed the head strap, a 2s lipo that plugs directly into the goggle, the foam padding, and changed out both of the antennas with an immersion rc patch and tbs antenna.

The V1S are 178$ on banggood right now. I instantly bought them as my first binocular goggles.

You lose footage if you don't stop recording on the commanders also. Didn't know the FOV was smaller, thanks for the input.

Skyzone 02c looks like the go for me if and when my o2s+ stops working.
You can 3d print supports to make it more comfortable and round on thingiverse!
Hotdog fpv straps 1.5 inch were a great upgrade for me for v1, can recommend it!

I have the commander v1 and V2 but my everyday goggle is commander V2 absolutely love them... Although I don't think they make them anymore?

I didn't really make any mods, I just use clearview on the AV port for racing.
