Allow me to tell you about when our platoon in the Swedish Military was chewed out by our lieutenant for not putting up our tent for our posting as he came around to inspect our work.
He was fuming, calling us all worthless pieces of shit and was talking about how we would be made to march for 50 miles instead of sleeping that night bla bla bla.
Then, when our corporal was allowed to speak in our defense. He simply pointed with a straight face that the whole camp has been built 15 meters in THAT direction as instructed.
At which the lieutenant stared for 30 seconds until he finally just stopped being red in his face and you could literally feel the chill he got from realizing he's been making a complete ass out of himself for many minutes while we all just stood there not making a single smirk or sound.
It was so well camouflaged that he had actually walked around the whole camp on a natural trail and not seen a single thing and it took him that long to finally be able to discern that MAYBE there actually was two frigging 20 men tents hidden there with a whole bunch of other equipment.
The lieutenant said only one thing: "Well, good job, carry on" and walked away. We didn't see him again for a whole week.

Were you aware of a British camouflage system in ww2 that made aircraft appear to disappear? It used electric lights to actually camouflage flying aircraft? The system involved a bunch of low power lights mounted to a aircraft that simulated the sky's natural background lighting and made aircraft appear to disappear. I don't know why it was dropped. It was a brilliant idea. My guess was the advent of radar. Now with stealth a system like this would be excellent indeed. I just don't understand why it hasn't been rediscover? Try looking it up. It works.

Ridiculous conservatism holds back so much in the US military. Wait and see how much they whine about this new round and weapon they are getting, which is basically essential if they want to defeat body armour.
the last thing is always the best thing ever for them, like the AR15 worship, which they forget had a horrible introduction and was hated and mistrusted for years.

Earliest account i have seen for camouflage in war (not specifically just hiding for an ambush or scouting) was also in Sweden during the Scanian War(1675-79).
Small Swedish force cut down bushes and branches of trees then covered themselves and crept over the field toward a danish positions during the night.
It being a moonlit night making the Danish watch feel safe they could see anyone coming, the rouse was a success and the swedes charged right ontop of the danish troops who didnt even have time to raise a propper alarm.
Reportedly a danish commander only had the time to comment something along the lines of "Why are the goats bleating?" when hearing the battlecry signaling the charge before the swedes just ran into the camp, they were too close for him to imagine it was a battlecry, he thought it was the camp livestock.
It is from a period diary/book from a commander of the Västgöta Cavalry Regiment of the war but it is written sometimes like a report and sometimes like a story, so the accuracy is doubtful but it shows they had the understanding of the advantages of camouflage to disguise troop movements too even if it was just a story and maybe never performed.

There are fabrics which absorb IR that are used so soldiers are harder to see on night vision and thermals and primitive thermal covers, the thermal covers especially are extremely uncomfortable though,.the only real practical method is heat reflecting ghillie blankets that go over the whole body

unfortunately it is layer upon layer and weighs a lot. There is some YT on the CV9040 which has taken a lot of beating and you can see some of the layers. As a masking net, only certain laws are used to become manageable at all. There are some exciting extra tidbits. The outer layer absorbs dirt and snow from the surroundings so the color matches the local surroundings.

The barracuda system is in use at both the 21st Mechanized Brigade with the CV9040c and the STRV122.
And also the 45th (not the 47th) Artillery Brigade with the FH77B Archer SPG System.
Both 21st and 45th (not the 47th) are often called The Swedish Brigades as they are kitted and trained by Swedish Military and Swedish Military Doctrine.
    CV90 is the IFV.
STRV 122 is A heavily modified LEO2A5 built in Sweden it is also considered the best protected MBT in service.
FH77B Archer is the current top SPG in the world with a maximum range of over 65km, It is also the fastest when it comes to Shoot and Scoot in service, Germany is comming with their RCH155 to likely beat the Archer if it works as intended.
Sweden has also Donated all the remaining PBV302 which is something in between a M113 and a Bradley.
it is not a M113, Yes it looks abit like it but it is completly a diffrent vehicle.
And Sweden and Netherlands have donated CB90's which is the Barracuda clad boats in the picture.

I did a quick google and only 10% of CV90's have been lost while 30% of Bradleys have been lost. It's possible the Bradleys are involved in more intense fighting or have been fighting for longer. I wasn't sure how to check to see what percentage of the crew survived in either case.

This concept is not new, although the materials technology used have advanced over the years. The US Army experimented with this system in the early 90’s prior to Desert Storm, but that operation threw every principle related to camouflage and deception out the window. Even today, you see thousands of armored vehicles in desert tan. SAAB Baracuda has some of the most advanced technology available today, but often given lip service. Glad to see this report.

Wes, good video, good information, and interesting. First time I have seen your videos. I will subscribe. Friendly suggestions here, which I hope will help you: 1. Wear a dark garment (top), not a white one. 2. Adjust your white balance on your camera or do something about your lighting setup, as in this video everything, including you, appeared blue. Use the blue background light to make your face pop from the background, but your white balance needs to be set to make your face appear natural color. 3. Avoid a distracting background image or moving things in the background. Your set has a very busy background which detracts from you. 4. Avoid putting your hands in and out of your hoodie.
I hope these friendly suggestions help you. You have a good presentation, and the right tone and good speaking skills. Just need to work on the lighting of your set and video. :)

They just posted up a drone footage of 1 or 2 CV90s getting deleted yesterday. Maybe they weren't using this Camo net stuff on the CV90s they were using? Heres what is said from the article "Drone footage from Russia's 106th Airborne Division showing various destroyed/damaged/abandoned Ukrainian vehicles east and south of Veseloe, Kursk Oblast, including Marder, CV-90, and Bradley IFVs; Stryker and M113 APCs; and Kozak, MaxxPro, and Kirpi MRAPs. Many of these have already been seen.
Allegedly, around 1/3 of them were knocked out by artillery and ATGMs, another 1/3 by FPV drones and mines, and the rest by RPGs and other infantry weapons." Don't know if its working as intended ? or is it ? Maybe they need to past all the vehicles with the stuff so they all have the tech on them.
It actually showed the CV90 in the trees just destroyed and abandoned with all the other vehicles but they were not in a convoy they were scattered in the same area inside tree lines and fields and the CV90 it didn't look like that camo did much for it from the looks of the drone footage.

Makes so much sense, a country with a truly defensive military posture would develop the best camouflage systems. Mainly offensive strike & fast-attack military doctrines will have less priority for camouflage requirements. Ukraine & Taiwan would have high need for the most effective camouflage systems for their strategic defensive preparations
