Hi Steve (and anyone who cares to listen), This is gold. The most sophisticated digital 3d motion capture technology confirms that the first move after transition is straightening of the trail elbow (the right elbow for a right handed golfer) in pro golfers. Amateurs tend to try to hold the elbow angle which is what appears to happen in slow motion analysis. The drill that Steve shows here is a game changer. Remember: yes it looks like casting but when the pivot is added it looks like Steve is holding lag. He is not. He is throwing the club head right after transition. Thanks Steve.
Best video about the golf swing and how to actually do it. Almost 99% of golf videos out there, tells you to create lag, hold the angle, flatten the wrist etc, but in the end you can never square the club face. The key point abou this video is you have to release early to square the club face, not hold the lag.
I shot a 37 last night with these concepts in mind. The key is understanding the difference between a pulling motion and a throwing motion. The pulling motion is very inconsistent and has been promoted by nearly every poor teacher on TH-cam. The pulling motion also, quite unfortunately, works well once in a while. For me, the key difference is using the right hand to throw instead of using the left shoulder to pull. There is a uniquely different feeling in those 2 swings. The throw feels free and almost out of control, but the consistency is much better. The pull feels like a lunge at the ball with the big muscles. What was nice was that I could really go after the ball on holes that have less trouble and I would hit it over 300 or close to that and I could dial it down for holes where I just needed a fairway and it would go around 260. That was a lot of fun!
I’ve been hitting my driver like this since spring……leveraging my past baseball days. And it works!!!! Added 30-40 yards to my typical drives. My swing thought is that I throw the club head out at the ball as if I’m trying to hit a baseball to right-center field. The club head whips through with a ton of speed. Same resulting action, just a different way to think about it.
Thanks Steve. Used this today and noticed something I have not seen in a couple of years, lots of topspin. My drives would roll out 30-50 yards after they landed. Hit my best 3 wood in years with lots of added yards after it landed. I have longer than normal arms- 5'10" with reach of 6'3" person. So starting my swing at the top and out has helped my timing. No thin shots today - just a couple of hook draws with massive - top spin. Once again, this has made me feel like I am getting a full swing with better timing.
Awesome swing at 2:09. Check out the amount of lateral side bend post impact. Especially for 53. How to kill the ball in 1/2000th of a second watch Steve😜👍
This is good stuff Steve. I’ve been trying to get golfers to throw away lag and speed the clubhead up for years. Every one of my students is a thrower and they are all long and accurate.
Mike Austin always talked about his first and only golf teacher making him hit a mud bank with the club HEAD and not get mud on his left elbow. You did a really great job in this video using the vertical pole and the speed training prop to demonstrate that point. Too many golfers still think and are 100% convinced that they have to delay and retain the lag angle - which as you explained is really a visual delay. Great job on how you explained the true secret of how Mike got his amazing club head speed.
First time I tried this was with a 3 wood on a par 5. I hit it about 270 dead straight and then used the same club again to reach the green. I then 3 putted unfortunately! When you get it right you can hear the ball fizzing away. Don't forget to keep your lead arm (left arm for a rightie) pressed or connected against your chest as you swing through while throwing the club head. Very important!
I watched this video a week ago and just didn’t get it..thought it would be way too inconsistent contact wise too but I was wrong. I did this with my irons and I was shocked how straight every shot was. The driver worked immediately for me after a couple times at the range and wasn’t even gonna attempt this with irons but I’m glad I did because I gained a lot of distance and they are laser straight m. Great video man..just subscribed
As an avid golf TH-camr watcher - I find it amazing the huge variation in swing theories. Personally, I find your perspective - especially as it pertains to release and lag - most refreshing. The average downswing is less than .5 seconds. That means, in reality, all motion that is involved starts virtually simultaneously. Based on this, "holding" anything seems counter-intuitive.
@@Inmotion70 Exactly! Thank you for presenting the idea of actually releasing EARLEY. Some will say as you mention in the video that this will result in a poor position at impact - which is true as you point out if you stop turning. With this early release, do you find that your back does need to stay pointing at the target a little longer?
I know this video is over 2 years old, but this drill is great, I do a lot of pulling, this definitely helps understand whipping the club, not pulling the club.
Hi Steve, thank you very much, I play now 50 years golf, this modern Technik destroy my game total, now after your video ? Oh la la merci Hallo from Senegal/Westafrica
I've been watching these videos for a couple weeks now and I think I'm finally coming to understand what this feels like. I'll try it on the course tomorrow and let you know.
Got our first snowfall and I’m in the backyard practicing this swing. Once I got the feeling of extra club head speed achieved by throwing the club behind me the beauty is I can see my club path it leaves in the snow. I admit I also made a few snowballs the size of a golf ball and hit a few of those off my deck. Do what ya gotta do until spring!
I've tried using lower body action techniques while keeping the arms passive and also active with no success in creating more swing speed. But using my swing speed radar I consistently get 15 to 20 mph faster swings by feeling like I'm throwing the club backwards away from the target. And I thought I was built weird or something, but your technique works for me. It does feel like casting compared to my old swings of holding the lag. I just have to get comfortable and consistent with it.
@@thefishnmusician9667 it’s just a swing feeling of throwing backwards from the top with the right hand while keeping the left arm pinned to your chest while the lower body brings down the left arm. Mike Austin spoke of the left arm being the upper deck and the right arm being the lower deck; both hit the ball. The right arm is inside of and below the left arm.
Jack Nicklaus famously said its never too early to release the club, this vid demonstrates that concept perfectly. After working on the drill I feel as if my trail wrist starts uncocking seconds after transition, this whole notion of lag and hold off is killing golf swings of the masses.
And we have all heard, don't use your hands in the golf swing. Then what the hell do I use, that's what holds on to the club. The hands and wrist all contain small twitch muscles which when used correctly produce the speed necessary to gain distance and accuracy. Always a great vid from you Steve, love those fast twitch muscles in action, thanks.
Steve: I had learned the out-throw move that you teach but it wasn’t until I saw the video you made with Eric Cogrono that I linked that 90 degree unhinging move with the left wrist to the throwing movement of the right hand/arm to make it a full 180 degree movement of the club that you demonstrated. I worked on smoothly linking the initial throw with the left hand to the takeover role of the right, and it unleashed club speed that I haven’t been able to achieve for many, many years and a solid, flush strike, especially with the driver. I’ve more or less taken the handle-pull out of my swing, or at least minimized it, and the resulting arc and unimpeded angular momentum of the club head is a breakthrough. I’m launching it high and far with that sound that sometimes turns heads at the range. Thanks!
The throw out works because your mind feels the rearwards force and balances for equilibrium by pivoting the body to the target (feet, legs, hips, torso, bottom to up.) The swing times itself. It's similar to when seated at a swing at a children's playground and accelerating when you pull rearwards on the ropes at the exact moment coming through. Borrow a long blade at the driving range. It's the only means to hit it pure. You do need to be relaxed.
What an amazing video. This is the engine of the swing! Once you have this down, all you really need to learn is the proper pivot to unleash this on the ball!
Im 59 and 310 carry is normal off the tee after only a few weeks drilling the throw out with the swoosh. 107 to 118 clubhead speed gained. This is CRAZY
How should we think about this Out Throw technique in relation to forearm rotation? I hear a lot of coaches talk about forearm rotation as a bad because its too hard to control the club face. Does this technique require forearm rotation, face opening/closing, or no?
I agree with your comment... I dont' want forearm rotation...too hard to time. I think more of tossing a ball underhanded as fast as I can ...keeps the club head stable thru the complete forward swing. Think of a hockey flap shot or an underhanded fastball...it's underhanded.... forearms don't rotate.
wow - I need to try this! I've been working on 'holding my lag' for a while now, and my driver distance has not really improved. question - does this work for the iron swing as well? btw - I'm 55, 6'0", 255 lbs and fairly athletic. my best driver hits carry about 210 and roll out another 20 or so yards... if I could get another 30 yards, that would be awesome... my handicap is 10.9
Steve, how do you use this move and avoid an unstable timing-dependent club face through impact? It seems it will cause rapid change of the face angle through impact.
This really works and it seems to automatically get you through the shot with speed. Jon Rahm has talked about the feeling of throwing the club out. It seems a little odd before you try it but I guess it’s the centrifugal force at play.
Thays just what u feel. Ur not throwing starting by your ear prolly when ypur mond says to but actually starts throwing halfway down.. Thx for making austin finally get credit where it shudda been due 40 years ago. Inwish austin had putn videos
I am suffering from the arm hands sawing motion. I actually have to stall at square to get the head released and then it caused an "unable to complete the swing with shaft across or behind head". I think it has to do with my grip or shoulder plan. Tried weak neutral strong grip. Holding more in fingers in palm. Tried long thump short thump . nothing work so far. Some people are just gifted i guess, like Steve. But i am not giving it up. My quest for 230 yds flying still going strong. Keep 'em coming Steve. thanks.
Steve, thank you for your quick response to my question on your other video. I have the same question here too. I assume the drill/feeling in this video also applies to both drivers and irons correct?
My instructor was trying to get me to do this, except he explained it in a different way. He wanted me to try and straighten my arms on the downswing in order to help hit up on the ball. I didn't stay with it cause i hit it far enough not trying to do this. I carry the ball around 260 and can get 30 yards or roll. But I don't get 290-300 yards of carry which is what I want. :-)
I went to the range today. The setup and getting my shoulders through the ball with the club worked EXTREMELY well. I’m still working on the unloading the club part. Need some suggestions on wedges and this system
Hi Steve- this is really fascinating material...can't wait to try it out. Just one thing, if I may. There's no doubt you really launch yourself at the ball. As a senior 72 yr old golfer don't somehow see myself doing the same. Or could I still make this work but maybe more gently? Many thanks....
I am 72 and swing this way with my driver. I would only add that at the top I wait to really feel the clubhead and then I throw it at the ball as I rotate my body. I routinely drive the ball 260-275 and everyone says it looks like I am swinging at 80%. I find it easy with the driver but more difficult with irons.
Steve Pratt Golf Steve, my driver speed is about 97 but my seven iron speed is only low 70’s so although, with roll, I drive the ball consistently at 260 my seven irons only fly 135. Any suggestion? I hit my irons straight but they just do not go as far as I would expect.
Thx Steve, I swear I’ve never hit more solid shots than I did after watching this explanation, mostly straight with my bad shot hooking left, something to work on, thank you, Pete Murphy
How should we think about this Out Throw technique vs the hit the ball and keep both your arms straight for as long as possible technique? Its recommended by golftec and many teachers and seem incompatible with this. The drill I'm thinking of is about keeping both arms straight through about parallel the ground on the throughswing, keeping the clubface pointed up-ish, and not rotating the forearms at all
The left arm should start folding immediately after 30 inches past the ball. Trying to keep it straight longer is both injurious to the shoulder and would act as a brake.
This is a great video and so different from what everyone else teaches. It's been very helpful in increasing club head speed. One question, does the throw happen immediately from the top or do you start with a shallowing move to get the club on plane and then throw? Thanks
Hello Steve ,just saw your video with Eric Cogorno, im 50 ,low 90s driver just subd your channel ,when the course opens I will get you a video for a lesson , I live in Puerto Vallarta Mexico so you are a little out of the way for me , one question as I am working on this feel indoors due to the lockdown here , would you say the throw happens first ? or the pivot ? I have a slicer in the 2 years since I picked up golf ,my path was left and OTT ,just before the lockdown working with a local pro he got my path was right about 3 to 4 degrees , but I started pushing due to a open face .would you say the throw happens first ? or the pivot ?
thanks for some of the best instruction available! All the blah blah blah about lag, and it's this simple? Golf instruction oughtta be ashamed. You know many times I tried to keep the clubhead BACK while downswinging, trying to 'create' lag??? Thanks so much!
You have a good rotation lag and good swing path which allows you to throw you can’t give that to somebody outside path and steep like the majority of the golfing world that we teach
440 yard up hill par 4 last night, Driver then 152 yard Nine iron to eight feet. Made the Birdie putt… I am 62 years old… 6’ 185 lbs. Steve Pratt’s concepts learned from Mike Austin simply work. (As long as you are willing to practice them…)
This has been my natural swing since I've been playing golf (25 years) and have been told I'm releasing/casting the club way too soon (so I had to change it to not rotating the forearms), plus I, like yourself take the club inside under the plane on the backswing so I had to change that as well and guess what I've lost a ton of distance! Just for the record you do have a lot of lag on the downswing (@11:03 probably more than you think) AND your shaft matches up perfectly with your right forearm.
I would start with using video from down the line examining the measurement from your thighs to the butt of the club at address and then at impact. Chances are good the shaft is taller and further away than you started.
For all You Tube golf instructors: Use more Slo-Motion video during a swing demonstration. Greatly helps the viewer more easily see what you’re doing! Next- So many instructors don’t use the best view when driving home their point-A down the line view when a face on view might be better! Thanks Enjoy your work!
Hi Steve. This is great instruction but i just have one question. At the start of the downswing do you feel you are throwing the club head directly at the ball or away from your right shoulder? Awesome golf swing mate!
@@paulbarrett2756 I was doing the same thing at first but try to keep your chest over the ball. It’s a weird feeling at first but once you get it down it’s amazing
Hi Steve are you a still a great believer in the old Mike Austin release the rolling hand action or the one he worked on with dan shauger the under throw release. Which do you prefer or teach to your students, would be nice to here your opinion on this just to clarify my reading on the Mike Austin methods. Thanks 😊
Hi Mike Austin changed his release after he had is stroke working with dan shauger they come across a different release pattern which MA approved of. You are know to teach the original MA rolling hand action release. Can you please tell us what were the differences between the two, as its very misleading. And the one you teach your students today please. Thank you 🏌️👍
@@marcussheldon9220 I worked with Dan and he showed me his hand action personally. I'm not a big fan and I don't think he understood what Mike Austin wanted. Mike almost came off his hospital bed to strangle Dan when Dan presented him his first book manuscript..."That's NOT my swing!!!"
Hi , are your in favor of the roll release ? Also I read the reason why Mike and Dan fell out was Dan wrote the Book and Mike was going around saying he wrote it ! Is that true?
@@marcussheldon9220 I don't know about that. Look...the forearms MUST roll AFTER impact or you are doing it wrong....no matter what technique you're using. You would be intentionally blocking it and decelerating the clubhead. You've got to throw that crap out of your lexicon! :)
this works so well... the sooner I out throw the club... the better and longer my shots go. But are you advocating a rotation of the forearms as in your demo? I out throw my club like an underhanded throw with my wrists and NO rotation of the forearms....requires too much timing. My forearms are passive ( no rotation) , but my wrists unhinge like a underhanded toss as fast as I can, like an underhanded fastball or hockey shot....ball takes off and goes for miles. But I like your instruction of throwing out the clubhead from the top. Wish all instructors would teach their students to throw the clubhead from the top....they teach just the opposite.
Great video Steve. Makes sense what Mike was teaching yet I can't seem to actually generate more speed with the method. To uncoordinated I guess) Take care
I’ve been a scratch golfer for 30 years ! My short game is spot on ! I’m a talented putter ! My problem has always been distance off the tee as I average maybe 100mph ! I’ve always attempted to “ hold the lag .. lol ... the more I hold the shorter I am ! It’s embarrassing! My swing looks labored and slow even though I am swinging hard !
Damn.. Just to think I've been searching for a guy who tells the truth (and know the secret) for a long time. Finally found one. Thousand salutes SIR! and Yes I am subscribing.
Hey Steve how are you doing, I would like to ask you a few more questions about the way you teach I have entered for lomg drive and would like to ask you if you could help me get faster and more efficient I am already swinging 131mph
Hi Aaron! Presently 131 won't get you past the regionals unless you are super efficient and catch a break. So yes you're looking to push for at least 140 Feel free to email me at Steve@hititlonger.com
All clubs can be swung like this. Just take a more narrow stance and move the ball position so the low point is in front of the ball by the left instep.
I’m a little confused Steve. When you are swinging the swoosh up against the pole you are flipping/rolling your wrists. I thought you advocated flapping the wrists to maintain a more constant face angle.??
I am speechless. At 70 years young I have regained the distance I had at 50. The only thing that is weird is that after hitting the ball, I feel the urge to run to first base.
Anyway I played today Shot 76 but I noticed unlike my 50/50 either inside or outside swing path I didn't have any outside in swing today Thats not a coincidence. It was Simulator 18 holes btw.
@@Inmotion70 Would that cause any problems with early release/extension? I have heard that you want your hands, wrist and forearm to be about parallel at impact. It seems like extending your hands near your shoulder would release all that energy before you get to impact.
@@LivinBilly As long as you are pivoting/turning, you can never be too early. It will time out beautifully! The only way you will CAST or let go the energy too soon is if your lower body is passive.
@@Inmotion70 So the lower body rotation puts you in position so that the release is closer to impact? Specifically, the release of the hands should always happen between club parallel (hands near right hip pocket) and impact, but an active lower body allows you to rotate your right shoulder closer to the ball. This makes the release closer to the shoulder but still in that "hip to impact" release zone? Harder to type that to demonstrate, but are you suggesting the release point is higher than the hip or that your shoulder is rotated closer to that hip release area?
@@LivinBilly In ALL good swings, the peak force of the hands uncocking the club occurs when the club is still SHOULDER high. This is no longer up for debate. You might see the response from hip to ball, but the force is already diving to zero at that point, or freewheeling.
@ STEVE, Hi have followed Mike and now your info for a bit. One thing concerns me about this "hand whip" move is that it could become very inconsistent because if your timing is out, at impact your face could end up too closed or open with obvious results. Lots are advocating as little hand rotation as possible for more consistency. Its a very diffucult thing to time such hand rotation correctly, Would like to hear your thoughts.

I think more of tossing a ball underhanded as fast as I can ...keeps the club head stable thru the complete forward swing. Think of a hockey flap shot or an underhanded fastball...it's underhanded.... forearms don't rotate.
wow - I need to try this! I've been working on 'holding my lag' for a while now, and my driver distance has not really improved. question - does this work for the iron swing as well? btw - I'm 55, 6'0", 255 lbs and fairly athletic. my best driver hits carry about 210 and roll out another 20 or so yards... if I could get another 30 yards, that would be awesome... my handicap is 10.9
You actually explain that key move far better than the maestro himself. Well done.
Keep 'em coming Steve. thanks.
There are some recent videos covering the sawing /pulling motion.
@@Inmotion70 thanks Steve. Been looking at you recent videos.
Question: The uncoking action is really fantastic to get more speed. is it the same action with irons?
Do you use an interlocking grip with the pinky? It doesn’t look like it in this video
I overlap.
Steve, thank you for your quick response to my question on your other video. I have the same question here too. I assume the drill/feeling in this video also applies to both drivers and irons correct?
Yes, absolutely
Thank you!
Finally someone explains it correctly! Thank you...
Great video Steve, that really puts Austin's release in a much more easy to understand explanation. Thank you!
Steve how does one stop coming over the top doing this even with rotation? My path is a little out to in with this throwing at the top.
The club should shallow from a good pivot and less arms.
I went to the range today. The setup and getting my shoulders through the ball with the club worked EXTREMELY well. I’m still working on the unloading the club part. Need some suggestions on wedges and this system
Same motion just change stance width, ball position, and forward lean at address.
I love the look of the driving range... Nice...
Is it wrists uncocking /throwing or right arm straightening or combo of both?
Hi Steve- this is really fascinating material...can't wait to try it out. Just one thing, if I may. There's no doubt you really launch yourself at the ball. As a senior 72 yr old golfer don't somehow see myself doing the same. Or could I still make this work but maybe more gently? Many thanks....
Yes absolutely. I have 2 72 year old students currently. One has a long drive of 267 and the other 273. Neither one swings overly hard.
@@josephmarolla3438 The higher you get your max speed, the higher your cruising speed.
Steve Pratt Golf Steve, my driver speed is about 97 but my seven iron speed is only low 70’s so although, with roll, I drive the ball consistently at 260 my seven irons only fly 135. Any suggestion? I hit my irons straight but they just do not go as far as I would expect.
@@josephmarolla3438 Hmm you're right that doesn't match. That's good distance for that speed with a 7 though. Hard to tell without seeing your swing.
Thanks
Good question. The shallowing move and the out throw are happening simultaneously.
@@Inmotion70 Thanks
Step and throw.
Great instructional video Steve can not wait to try it for myself Charlie from Kentucky
Come back and update us Charlie!
(As long as you are willing to practice them…)
That's a hell of a birdie! Hope you won some skins!
Had a A-ha moment here... thanks Steve! Great video and demo.
REALLY great MA instruction Steve. got to try that exercise with the tent pole, and that was 'really killing it man" Thank you
Cheers Michael! Let us know the results...
A lot of people used to laugh at Dalton MacCrary when he taught this move 20 years ago.
Nice. How does your swing differ from Mike Malaska's?
I hear that a lot. I don't know as I haven't watched much of his, but knowing what a great teacher he is, I take it as a huge compliment. Cheers Kurt!
Hi Steve. Great article. Does it work only with the driver or basically all irons as well. With the possible exception short irons? Thanks!
Ball position and stance width will allow the same throwing action. There are modifications for different trajectories.
I appear to be lagging but I'm throwing away the lag with active hands at that point! :)
Steve Pratt Golf j
Do you throw the club in the same way irons as well.
Yes! Just change stance width and ball position.
Great video . This is kinda what the tour striker Planemate premise is of that aid
Like it. Would you say that move is the way to go even with irons?
Could you please kindly advise what wrong in my out throw that cause me hit at driver heel all the times.
Point taken Robert! Look for more coming up!
@ Robert P You can slow it down yourself to 75%, 50% or 25% by clicking on the settings on the bottom right of the video
Hi Steve. This is great instruction but i just have one question. At the start of the downswing do you feel you are throwing the club head directly at the ball or away from your right shoulder? Awesome golf swing mate!
I tried it and was toping the ball any suggestions?
@@paulbarrett2756 I was doing the same thing at first but try to keep your chest over the ball. It’s a weird feeling at first but once you get it down it’s amazing
Wow!!!! I like that out throw...thanks
Hi Steve are you a still a great believer in the old Mike Austin release the rolling hand action or the one he worked on with dan shauger the under throw release. Which do you prefer or teach to your students, would be nice to here your opinion on this just to clarify my reading on the Mike Austin methods. Thanks 😊
There's no such thing as an under release. Unless you're trying to slice it around a tree.
Do u use this technique for irons?
Steve would this be "casting" if you stop or slow your turning/pivoting.
is this the same for irons
would this thought carry over to irons?
this works so well... the sooner I out throw the club... the better and longer my shots go.
When you blend in the pivot with that move you'll see there's very little forearm roll needed if the hand path is good.
Does this apply to irons too? Pitch shots?
How do I order a ladies Speed Whoosh from your site. I do not find a link.
Good balance when going after it. Great video!
Cheers!
Great video Steve. Makes sense what Mike was teaching yet I can't seem to actually generate more speed with the method. To uncoordinated I guess) Take care
Those drives were BOMBED!!
I'm about 25-30 yards shorter than when I was playing but I did hit several over the 300 yard driving range fence recently...into the onion fields.
100 is more than average for a scratch golfer. However, that hold idea may have you relegated to higher spinning heel tendencies.
Damn.. Just to think I've been searching for a guy who tells the truth (and know the secret) for a long time. Finally found one. Thousand salutes SIR! and Yes I am subscribing.
Thanks for watching!
Lovely course…
Many so called "professionals" telling us different things what we should do and feel just adds more confusion. Thank you!
Key is finding one that works for you ;-)
Hey Steve how are you doing, I would like to ask you a few more questions about the way you teach I have entered for lomg drive and would like to ask you if you could help me get faster and more efficient I am already swinging 131mph
Hi Aaron! Presently 131 won't get you past the regionals unless you are super efficient and catch a break. So yes you're looking to push for at least 140 Feel free to email me at Steve@hititlonger.com
Great tip
great just tried it in my net, its a very simple swing thought and boy it creates way more club head speed, thank mate keep up the good work
Cheers!
Should this method be used with all clubs or just the driver
All clubs can be swung like this. Just take a more narrow stance and move the ball position so the low point is in front of the ball by the left instep.
I’m a little confused Steve. When you are swinging the swoosh up against the pole you are flipping/rolling your wrists. I thought you advocated flapping the wrists to maintain a more constant face angle.??
I wish I saw this video 20 years ago!
I am speechless. At 70 years young I have regained the distance I had at 50. The only thing that is weird is that after hitting the ball, I feel the urge to run to first base.
Hey it it will help....
Does this apply to all your irons and fairway woods?
Yes. Just make sure you are pivoting and turning out in front in correct sequence.
Is this true for irons as well?
Would this be the same for an iron swing?
Yes.
Anyway I played today
Shot 76 but I noticed unlike my 50/50 either inside or outside swing path I didn't have any outside in swing today
Thats not a coincidence. It was Simulator 18 holes btw.
When do you suggest throwing the head of the club: at the start of the downswing or closer to impact?
From near the top just after you step down onto the left heel. This is what all good players ACTUALLY do.
It's exactly the opposite actually. The freer your hand action gets, the more you control the clubface if you are making an efficient hand action.
I believe that the rolling of the hands are a results of the throwing.
where is this range?
