- After a long bow hunt in Montana, Adam finally got a big bull elk with his bow. Archery hunting for elk is a challenge, but has its rewards. On the way home, the rack was stolen out of the back of the pickup. Thankfully, through the power of social media, the antler buyer, that bought the elk rack off the thief, recognized it and gave it back to Adam. The thief hasn't been caught at this point, and still made bank on a lot of our hunting gear, but that's replaceable, the elk rack isn't. Thank you for your support, and make sure to subscribe!!!

I had some A - hole steal my grandfathers collection of horns dating back into the 40s out of the barn.
I would like to hide them, a rope and a stiff tree branch….arg

What an up and down story! The hunt getting close but not close enough and then finally getting one to just have it taken from a truck bed! Very lucky the antler buyer had even noticed or thought about it when he got them! Congrats on the big bull and having the rack still atleast to put on the wall! Sucks about the other equipment and the rest of the hide

What a roller coaster of emotions you must have gone through during that adventure. I’m so glad you managed to get the antlers back . Sux that the scumbag removed them from the scull and recked the cape tho . And managed to get away with your hunting gear. The whole experience must have been so stressful. I hope they catch the prick that did this and he gets prosecuted to the full extent of the law .

A great Father to your adoptive children. I'm proud of you as a fellow Alaskan. I'm super grateful your stolen rack was found and able to be retrieved. It will evoke memories for years to come. Quite a hunt and a year for you.

I remember this story from IG. Such a disgrace when people are thieves. I've had my archery gear stolen in the middle of the season but that pales in comparison to some lowlife stealing an elk of a lifetime.

I have had things stolen from me and it sucks, I can’t imagine something irreplaceable like that caped out skull and all those delicious elk steaks 🥩. You guys work hard at hunting and deserve better. 🙏🏻

I always stay on a first floor hotel room when traveling back with an elk rack. We park close to a side exit of the hotel, and carry the rack to the room out of sight through that side door, and usually pretty late at night. Honestly, it smells pretty rough when we return to the room after the "continental breakfast" the next morning, like someone died in there a week earlier!
We'll leave a $20 in the room for the cleaning person, which isn't really enough to get that stank out! 😁
Lesson learned
One thing that blows my mind is first thing Adam says is "Man they're so much smaller than a moose"!!! 😳😳😳 Really??!!! I've never seen either but are moose really that much bigger than an elk?? I mean obviously I know moose are bigger but I guess I didn't realize HOW much bigger.
A good size bull elk will yield 200 lb of boned out meat. A good sized moose will yield between 5 and 600 lb of boned out meat
Great video and great bull. I feel for you. 5 years ago while heading home from a moose hunt in northern Idaho we had the same thing happen to us at a hotel in Butte. They took several thousand dollars in gear but my moose head wasn’t taken. Stoked you got your antlers back at least.

I bot my biggest bull elk several years ago and took the head to a teacher in Casper Wyoming to get a European mount , Paid him $150 and never seen it again. The story was that he moved and took several heads with him....

That sucks! You have the rack but not the rest of your stuff, not sure but insurance should pay for your stolen stuff. If you were on/near a reservation maybe a local got angry and took it but whoever stole it sucks.
We looked into it, wouldn’t have covered much unfortunately

I know years ago someone stole tools from a work truck and they were all covered, but they were in a lockable cap (made for a tool truck) also had commercial insurance so that may be the difference. Really wish the antler buyer had invested in good security cameras. If this thief did it once ... he will surely do it again. Chances are it looked like a crime of opportunity so he could be living in the area. Glad you got the meat and the antlers. Gear loss hurts for sure ... What the thief got was a pattern of behavior in his mind that will only lead him downhill.
What month where you guys hunting I was in Montana late September and didn’t hear a single bugle but saw a ton of elk.
Same time. Bugled a lot first hour, as soon as sun was up, they were shut up and bedded down.

Never did, we wanted to so bad, but we started wasting too much time after we recovered the rack. I thought for sure we were going to catch him when we got the rack back.

Check the nearest water. They probably dumped the head and kept the gear.
So much money in elk antlers. Not surprised some1 stole it. I would of slept with it if I had to just to keep it safe from theifs. So glad you at least got the antlers back. The gear is replaceable. Fucking thiefs😢
Never in a million years would I leave a elk rack or any antler or horn in the back of a truck. This year I packed mine into my hotel room in MT. Would of been easier if hide was off skull and cut off. Pretty sure you couldn’t transport that from MT to Idaho like that with cwd

@@Stuckntherut1 Keep at it, persistence pays off, look at Craig's List for gear like you lost, other venues, I don't use Facebook, but I suppose they have a vending platform, plus local forums, and the Police don't have enough resources to keep after smaller cases, so network like crazy, never give up, bring the asshole/s to justice. Maybe the Antler buyer has some skeleton's in the closet, hire an investigator to explore that, he might crack with the right pressure.

When hunting in a area of alot of hunters, take that rack out first.
It blows my mind that there are people out there, that are that bad. I know it's not murder, But what a horrible person to steal Things from someone. Don't you just hate liars and thieves? This thief would probably be the loudest rant and raver, if his stuff got stolen. Thank goodness we have a Creator that sees everything, and although we will not be able to see how we he will get his due justice. It will happen.

In the still of the night, sound can travel farther than you think and if you want to hunt the same area the following day? You should whisper in my humble opinion ✌🏼😎

I'm confused on the shot and timing. You have patterned the elk at night to this water hole. You say you're pretty exposed and 5 minutes before shooting light. The video is quite dark, which I know video recording can appear more dark. I like your videos and channel, but this has me scratching my head that the legal taking of this bull is questionable.

Sounds like a rifle shooter when I guy says hunting with a bow really sucks. Obviously doesn’t enjoy the hunt. what are you doing a bow video for if you don’t even like archery hunting.
