- I'm so excited about the new Mandalorian show on Disney+, and I wanted to make the blaster that uses. Armed with a tiny toy version and a single photo, we're going to make an amazing Star Wars prop Mandalorian blaster.

you should try to team up with Adam Savage on one of these makes. Seems like you 2 would have all kinds of stuff to share.
I thought about Adam Savage's one day build where he made the rifle from Barbarella when Bob was working on the stock.
I thought of Adam Savage as well. I think their enthusiasm and joy for building would make for a great pairing.

Can we take a moment to appreciate that something that tiny can hold that amount of detail? He basically shrunk it, and expanded it without losing detail
That's like converting a medium sized folder to a .zip folder and decompressijg it without losing anything
The build intrigued, the fact you used the Figure as reference inspired. But the Classic 1980's Lego space man shirt sealed the deal. Amazing video.

When I was a kid, I wanted to make a wooden version of the assault rifle from Halo 1, but I had literally nothing. I had a big block of wood that was about the right size to carve it out with, but that was it. I worked on it on and off for many years, just wittling it with a tiny pocket knife, but eventually we moved, and it got thrown out. Now im kinda thinking about getting a laser cutter for other projects, but I just realized that I could use Fusion 360 like you did, and design it out and probably just cut it out in layers and stack them up. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.
That's awesome! You don't have to have the perfect tools for the job, you just need some motivation and determination.

Bandsaw, lathe, laser, table saw, 3D printing, drill press, router table, paint, stain, and even a dremel?! What a cool project! I love seeing the integration of so many tools for one end goal.
Not that I expected anything less, but this thing really looks amazing. I couldn’t help but think of the “a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, someone used Philip head screws” meme when you were putting the rivets on.
This video was instrumental in my process of making the same rifle for my dad’s Christmas present. It turned out amazingly, although I did use some different techniques from those in the video. Thanks Bob!

Haha irony. I clicked on it with the intention of building it for my dad but now I can't because I don't have the tools or materials.
I have 0 issue with using 3D printing in projects like this, but it is super fun to watch you make something like this and use a bunch of wood. 3D printers are rad and have their place in a shop, but this was a really cool change of pace

Im not sure if they had officially said what kind of rifle but given what it does it seems to be a Disruptor rifle of some kind.
It's a disruptor rifle. 1000 times worse than a firearm. It works on molecular level and destroys the bonds of the molecules that make up organic matter. The pain is so intense that it makes the brief moment between life and death seem like hundreds of years.
I am extremely impressed with this build. After having seen the whole first season of the Mando, I can't believe how good this looks basing it off of the toy. Well done!

after watching like 6 different builds this is probably my favorite
I might go with some pvc for the barrel but basswood > foam for the stock definitely
So we have the Mandalorian Rifle and the Darksaber! All we need now is some Mandalorian Beskar Armour!

He made a replica from using a software and a small toy figure of the weapon. That's impressive.

I love the mandalorian and I am a huge Star Wars fan I pretty much watch all of the Star Wars show I have seen every single movie and the mandalorian is my favourite Star Wars show of all times beside the animated clone wars

I have a wooden Hylian shield and a papercraft Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda I made some years ago. The shield has even a wooden handle and a false leather strap. I did it without any tutorial (TH-cam wasn't that popular yet), and I'm really proud of it.

Does your drill-press table swivel? I move mine to the side and use a hand-screw clamp, clamped to my table as a sort of vice.

Was going to make that suggestion as well. :)
You could also tilt the table 90% to the drill bit for a bigger area and probably more safer clamping method
Or turn the top section with the motor so that it hangs over the side of the bench, and you could clamp against the side of the bench or even put a cheap woodworking vice in that spot just for that purpose
