He never technically specifies the planet he's referencing for each day, so it could be that he's forgetting to note it's a day as defined by a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy.
@@schaddalton I mean, if he picks Venus, then he can spend like half a year or two thirds of a year on a One Day Build. It also depends on your definition of "day". Is it synodic day or sidereal day? Cause on Earth, that's a difference of about 4 minutes. But for Venus, it's a difference of like 127 days. Venus' synodic rotation period is 116 earth days, while it's sidereal is 243. Can get real tricky that way.

This right here! If everything you did worked perfectly and you never ran into any issues, I definitely feel that you lose out on a lot of the satisfaction of actually completing it!
It’d be a really cool project to see you take all of the leftover and inaccurate parts from all of the weapon replicas to put together into a new creation of your own design. I think it would be cool to see the kitbashing of all of your different work into a completely original piece!
Adam a few things with 3D printing. The Formlabs software is pretty basic considering how expensive the printers are but other software like Chitubox and Lychee can actually hollow prints which will save resin but you have to add drain holes and cure the inside and outside of the print. If you leave the inside uncured it'll crack over time, sticking a couple of UV LEDs in the drain holes is the best way to cure the inside. Remove the supports right after you wash and before you cure, it makes life much easier with clean up because they'll normally pop off without doing any damage (providing your settings are dialled in), you can also use flush cutters to really make your processing work much easier as well. When sanding resin please for the love of god wear a mask or wet sand, this dust isn't something you want to breathe in, the particles are small enough to get stuck in the walls of your lungs and your body wont be able to expel them easily if at all. Not to mention all printer resin is damn toxic.
I love the editing when Adam goes one about a process for several seconds / minutes and the immediate next shot is him doing it exactly the opposite of what he just told you
He is young enough that the distance and the difference between, say, hand drawn art and digital art are much less intimidating. I am an excellent artist, but i completely choked and hemmed and hawed, and absolutely HATED the product of my digital effort. Luckily, there was a young man that had gone to school with my son that was stoked to buy the setup that i had foolishly assumed would do as i insisted. I am no slouch on a pc: i can make visual music with prints of things i’ve drawn or painted and then enhanced or altered. And when i am bashing something out of a chunk of basalt with a hammer and chisel, there’s no keystroke on a keyboard that can replicate how the stone feels in hand. And thats cool. I can’t do math. But i can let a dragon out of a slab of granite.
To a gunsmith, the process of cutting into the wood stock and fitting it precisely to the metal components is known as "inletting". A simple and concise term which describes precisely the task.
Watching you come up with a fix for drilling all the way through took me back to my youth. My Father told me long ago, while working on a from scratch Kentucky style flintlock long rifle for a bicentennial re-enactment, "Master craftsmen are very good at fixing mistakes, and also very quiet about it". 😉 He finished in time and did the Oriskany re-enactment march in 1977.
I am in awe of the builds you complete on this channel. I don't even feel like I just sat through an hour and a half long video. I love that you show your mistakes and even accept the smaller ones sometimes. It's great to see even the greats can sometimes live with "good enough" and include the errors in the stories being told through the props. As always - great video and amazing prop!
The fact that he still finds joy in these builds like true happiness and expresses it to the audience in an unfiltered way is beyond words. You are the GOAT in my book good sir. Thank you!
One of the reasons I love and have always looked up to Adam is because his personality is like a mixture of cool uncle and mad scientist. I’m forever on awe of him
I LOVE these long ODB videos. When I need to get something done, I really enjoy throwing one of these on and feeling like I'm working along with Adam, even if I'm making something completely different out of wildly different materials.
Having purchased a filament 3D printer about 3 years ago and having to learn how to use it and manufacturer parts I needed in my designs I have a better understanding on what Adam is going through. His skill level is amazing, if I can only learn 10% of what he has showed us in this video I will be happy. The part on the trigger is fantastic! He’s happy and I’m happy for him!
Two things always really impressed me about Adam. 1) You ever notice almost all his major tools in the shop have his shorthand for how to use it taped on them or nearby (take a look at the back of the 3d printer during the close)? 2) Adam strikes me as a person who studies and researches how to use his tools but considering how meticulous he is about his measurements I am impressed he mastered the 3d software seemingly so quickly. Honestly, even just as a graphic designer and sometimes product designer, it's a real goal to be able to transition to those new goggles as he put so easily from project to project. Sidenote: Anyone reading this far who feels comfortable could you recommend some maker projects or niches (I'm not sure if there are any or if a niche is the right word) for a designer to dip his toes into?

@@mstickler68 It's obviously a great move from Formlabs. Still, I was hoping Adam would finally get access to a propper resin printer. It's made for the job he does.

Oh my god man. I was watching this trying to distract myself from frustration over a troublesome project. That "paint it blue" trick is exactly what I needed to learn. Thank you!
For anyone curious those "threaded inserts" are actually referred to as "Heli-Coil" there are other threaded inserts that are suited for wood specifically and they act more like one of those screw in drywall anchors.
Threaded inserts for wood usually are brass, have large coarse threads on outside and a machine screw thread on inside. Used where repeated disassembly of wood is needed, also the insert usually glued into the wood. Knurled threaded inserts are usually used in sheet metal and are either press fit into a hole or come as a pop rivet design. Again used for repeated disassembly. A helicoil is a thread repair device used in thick metal.
The fact that Adam manages to screw up pretty much every episode is pretty gratifying. If someone with his skill and experience can build the wrong scope and then immediately build the right scope, wrong, it makes me feel a lot better about all the stupid crap I do on my models 😅.
To Gunther Kirsch: Your editing on this is amazing! Firstoff, the funny subtitles/editor's note at the beginning. Secondly, the really nice cut at 9:34ish of Adam reaching into the bin to wipe off the platter, cutting to a similar motion of him reaching his hand into the bin to get the parts. Mm, that's some good editing. Great work!
That helicoil is not the preferred type of threaded insert to use in wood. There are flanged and unflanged tapping threaded inserts that are much better for wood, and have more holding/pull-out strength. Not super critical for this application, but it's good to be aware of what's out there.
Hey guys I'm really loving this long format versions of one day builds, it allows me to get fully immersed in the project! And in the beginning Adam's hair was going crazy so I sent a tweet of my mom just before she got a haircut after 11 months of not going to the hairdresser!! #whatsafetylookslike

Adam, what you do is amazing 👏 but my OCD and Anxiety shoot through the roof whenever I watch one of your build videos. My fingers are still twitching onnthen2nd time of watching this video
I just wanna say I'm watching this while playing KOTOR and man is it just weird to me that I'm watching the man who made some of my favorite things from star wars create more, while playing star wars ❤ Adam is one of my film idols that I'd love to meet
I'm really curious how he'd have done the octagonal barrel prior to 3D printing. I did one manually with a Dremmel turning a schedule 80 threaded PVC pipe into a 2.5 foot octagonal barrel and it was nightmarishly tedious. I also got a slight twist in the barrel due to mistakes I made along the length.
Adam, you are awesome man, you portray who you really are in such a care free manner. You are brilliant and truly unique in the best of ways, never change.

Knurled threaded inserts are usually used in sheet metal and are either press fit into a hole or come as a pop rivet design. Again used for repeated disassembly.
A helicoil is a thread repair device used in thick metal.
Nope, even it's a year ago.
Helicoils are inserts for damaged threads.
Oh MY GOD! I’m making a Mandalorean suit for comic con. This is a godsend!
Great work!
Cool project. I made one of these rifles too, except it was a slingshot rifle version.
Thank you so much Adam, I'm watching this on a Saturday evening and it's exactly what I needed. Take care of yourself and stay safe.
That helicoil is not the preferred type of threaded insert to use in wood. There are flanged and unflanged tapping threaded inserts that are much better for wood, and have more holding/pull-out strength. Not super critical for this application, but it's good to be aware of what's out there.
The amount of knowledge I’ve gained watching you has only expanded my knowledge of things I’ll never build. Thank you Uncle Savage
Hey guys I'm really loving this long format versions of one day builds, it allows me to get fully immersed in the project! And in the beginning Adam's hair was going crazy so I sent a tweet of my mom just before she got a haircut after 11 months of not going to the hairdresser!! #whatsafetylookslike
wow wow wow , the fifth element prop miniature . love it
This is my rifle, this is gun, this one is for fighting and this one for fun.
I would love to just spend a day with Adam in his shop. What an experience!
“Yeah, let’s send it” one of my most frequent used statements!
Yeah, it really bothers me personally. I wish Adam would SHUT UP and just MAKE WHAT HE’S TOLD. He shouldn’t be allowed to speak.

Everyday I just watch Adam savage, even episodes I’ve already watched. Can never get tired of his pure enthusiasm and love of making. One of my biggest role models, I’d love to meet him and make props with him one day🤞
Adam, what you do is amazing 👏 but my OCD and Anxiety shoot through the roof whenever I watch one of your build videos.
Make square plastic or metal stock to length and then use a 45 degree block and mill the corners
Adam, you are awesome man, you portray who you really are in such a care free manner. You are brilliant and truly unique in the best of ways, never change.
"Right, and we're going to do that on the mill" *Cuts to him hand-holding a drill* Yeah, totally an Adam move.
I love boxes of semi accurate parts, they are great for kit bashing.
The slack-jawed 1000 yard stare of the bandsaw at 27:44 - "Dude, I've seen some sh*t!"
Shouldn't that be "Dude, I saw some sh*t!" :)
