you are spot on correct. Probably less than 1% of riders/racers are capable of riding motocross bikes to their fullest potential even bikes 40 years old
I really like how you keep bringing up these old bikes and making them look fun again that's cool dude I have some old bikes myself I have a 97 KX 125 and it's still so much fun to ride
Finally a video i actually enjoyed. This video really showed exactly as stated you dint need a brand new bike, but i think more than the other videos ive watched the old mans still got fight in em.
he did really well on a tough track, it looked horrible to ride, it just shows there ain't much difference between new and old, plus he can ride well, love the vid max.
Thanks for watching David and taking the time to comment :-) There was a big storm the day before which make the track very deep and tricky, we were lucky to go racing really it was almost underwater just a few hours before this! You're right though, in the right hands there's truly not much difference between old and new
Great video Max, Shawn did a hell of a job on the RM , old 2strokes are relevant you're top videos show us that,31 years old and can still push modern 4strokes. keep the top quality videos rolling Max.
Wow, another great video 999. Just love it. And you're right, "you can listen to those 2 STROKES all day long". Thanks and keep it coming. Stay safe man.
JUST WATCHED THIS AGAIN AND WHAT CAN I SAY THANKYOU 60YEARS OLD BEEN RIDING 56YEARS STILL MIXIN GAS AND TRYING TO KICK SOME ASS TRIED A COUPLE OF 4 STROKES YEAR'S AGO BUT TO EXPENSIVE TO KEEP RUNNING SO 2STROKE'S FOR LIFE CAN'T BEAT THE SOUND AND SMELL AND THE SIMPLICITY THAT YOU CAN DO ALL YOUR SELF SELF FOR A FEW HUNDRED QUID RATHER THAN SENDING YOUR ENGINE OUT WAITING 2 OR 3WEEKS AND 3 GRAND LIGHTER.
I grew up on 2 strokes, in late 70's had an XR 75 4 stroke Honda. That was the last 4 stroke I've ridden. To be honest I cannot get myself to ride anything but 2 strokes it's in my blood!! Saving up now for a YZ 250 2 stroke one of the only companies making them
That 1991 RM is a lot closer to a 2023 mx bike than to a 1974 bike from just 15 years earlier. It has all the modern features. Long travel suspension, single rear shock, USD front forks, water cooled engine and disk brakes. Add an aftermarket hydraulic clutch and you are up to snuff!
@@999lazer cheers Max, yes, but ive fell out with the over 50s Champ here.- 'Whats wrong with with you British?'-Nev laughed when told him! Lol. CR has not exploded yet. New 4T snapped its chain. 'Leccy bike 2nd drive belt/4 rear tyres. 2T- Still Shynes! (For now)👍👍👍
I like your video a lot! Thanks for that but just a suggestion here, I think you’re said rm125 a least 55 times in the description…. That’s a lot! We can say that we know now! Thanks for your great work.
Go for a Kawi. While the CR was just as good as ever, it has abysmal suspension compated to the Green Machine that year. Allthough that is my personal favorite graphics package from Team Honda.
Hi 😊 max guys 😁😁😁 another brilliant vlog great riding from shawn Mx is in are blood are soul forever lovely track to 😁 look forward to more wicked vlogs have great day max Shawn to vromm brapp
Doesn’t look like a 91, I owned one. They had Showa suspension, different fork guards, the stickers were different and they had a camp yellow/tan seat and yellow frame. This is a 1990 model.
To all the people who were surprised that the old RM took 3rd against the newer bikes, I shall quote the great Nate Díaz… “I ain’t surprised MFR’s!” Hahshahaha I never had a doubt!!!!!
I'm sure he know what year bike he owns... the 91 rm 125 was definitely better than 89 90 92...in 91 they had that frame sorted Maybe he wants it to look older the 91 rm was stunning bike to ride good all rounder.. but it was ugly looking bike with stupid colours seat cover and decals mad 90s... back in day I think we all went back to 1990 oem standard decal kits much nicer carnt beat blue yellow rm look.. I which I never sold my 91 rm 125 never been able to find mint one since.. but I'm lucky enough to have mint 2006 rm 250 and 2008 rm 125.. Just need to find stunning rm 85 and nice fully restored 91 rm 125 then I'll be happy with full 2 stroke collection 😉
you need a young fast rider, no an old fart, old bike young fast gun , not a slow old fart that cant keep it wide open, he even missed the start, slow to dump the clutch, WHERES HIS WALKING FRAME, you need fast reaction times, not a slow old man, hes even taking the slow wrong lines, need a young fast gun,
I sold my last mx bike in 2004, every time I watch this channel I end up on Ebay afterwards...
So many people around the world overestimates the importance of the bike and underestimates the impact the rider haves. Great fun video!
well said, thanks for watching

My son's first 2 bikes were a crf110f and a crf125f. I bought hima kx112 for his birthday and he is now addicted to 2smokers!
There is a reason this generation RM125 was so successful!!! Great ride by Shawn in both motos!!!
thanks buddy, Sean always gives it 100%
think a 90s kx 125 woukd do better
@@tommodobbo3475 😂
Says alot about the man riding the 31 year old machine. I'd say both are still quite impressive.
Thanks Hanky, Seans like a fine wine. He gets better with age :)

Great to see these local races because there is always good battles hidden away in the pack if you look, cheers for the upload 👍
I had one. Great bike.
very impressive👍 in the end its all about the rider!
Agreed 100%, lucky for us Sean puts in maximum effort no matter what bike he's riding. Thanks for watching as always dude
Great bike, love the old rm’s so easy to ride back in the day 👍
And they just sound so, so nice! Thanks for watching Charlie
Brilliant race, Sean! Great job! Thanks for posting this vid, Max! Cheers!
Hey Max, what a knarly track, such a great video once again, Smith had that Sazook just a singing, great to get on the box....nice job Max
Thanks Darren, it was as rutty as it gets out there. Sean did an awesome job. Thanks for watching :)
Yes! More 999lazer action!
This stuff never gets old!
It just becomes cooler!

Get a husky tx300.
epic!!!!!! that's what mx is all about . that's a podium 1st in my book for determination on a 125 ! brilliant. Great video max 👍

You better be someone like Shaun Smith to be competitive on a 1991 Rm 125. Darn good video . Thanks !
I’m trying to message!
Beautiful track!
Great riding, Sean!
Epic coverage, Max!
❤️
Thank you sir! Glad you enjoyed it! :-D
@@999lazer so the other comment about a bike give away is rubbish?
Sean, that was a great ride..... sorry to see you step off - glad you are ok.
thanks for watching :)
I could ride hard for another lifetime and be lucky to ride as fast as Sean Smith. He's a serious racer.
so well filmed, you can actually feel the race
Nice video love the Rm 125s they are super slept on, i had a cr 250 few yeats ago and always wanted me a Rm 125.. looking for a 99-2000 model
The young lads walking behind on the start gate looking at the RM thinking "what the hell is that😮,its cool". Great ride and vid 👌
Thanks Ben.
haha what a tuff s.o.b. my hats off to him. He was having a blast out there & me watching him👏👏👊
Thanks for watching. The older Sean gets the more he wants to ride :)
In the 80's there never had been bikes like them back then. A 1978 and the 1980 bikes are whole new bikes because of the suspension and brakes.
Looking cool and having fun what it’s all about love the old bikes 👌🏻
Thanks for watching Johno! I totally agree this is what MX should really be all about :D
All respect to Sean! And the little Beauty of an RM from when I had all my own teeth!👍👍👍

Hella ride on a rough track on a awesome vintage 2stroke 🤙🏻🤙🏻
The way to win on a 125 is the same way you make love to a woman- keep her screamin! 😄
lol
1991 was a good year for motocross, also same year I was born! Id love a 500 2 stroke from that year.
Which colour would you go for though? Green? Thanks for watching dude

May have been third but he was #1 in style and coolness !
This would be a good bike to send of to the 2 stroke wizard and see if you can make more power then a new 125 2t
Nice rides Shawn - Hello from the States.
jolie pilotage, 👌👌😍😍👍👍✌✌le é temps est pas mort.
Fair play to the old boy he can make it sing
he certainly does. it was a tough track too after the rain. Thanks for watching

I think if that Suzuki was piloted by a pro or semi-pro the 4 strokes would have gotten smoked (pun intended LOL)
2 stroke all day long
You can’t race 125cc against 250cc and call it fair!!!
Unless Bubba Stewart or Ricky Carmichael is on the 125!!!
