Stamped Concrete - Don't Bite Off More Than You Can Chew!

This was a pretty big stamped concrete patio slab for how hot the weather was out on this day. If you're going to stamp concrete, you have to know how many square feet you can stamp in a certain amount of time. If you bite off more than you can handle, your stamp pattern may not look good as you finish up the last part of the slab.
You have a small window of time from when you start stamping to when the concrete is too firm to stamp with a good impression of the stamp.
Concrete sets up quite fast in the hot summer heat, so don't bite off more than you can chew.

The fella stamping the stamps down in the speeded up video looks like one of those football players on the vibrating electric football game sets. 😂
Team work makes the dream work
Amazing teamwork.
I was feeling the stress of it when you guys started. But you're right, that looked to have gone as well as it could have!! That's an excellent feeling when the day doesn't throw a million knives at you!! A win for the concrete man!!!
Facts
Turned out great as always Mike! Big stamp job, but you all nailed it, you're right, the 36" stamps help out alot.
Another fantastic job 👏 gentleman 🎉
Definitely the extra workers were needed to keep it from setting up on you. Looks good. Never done stamping concrete but done the exposed rock in sidewalks just to match existing sidewalk when I was younger. I think that is because we used to use a lot of salt in the winter
People are getting away from that now.
I totally agree with ya wondering if you can pull it off to our satisfaction, to much help is way better than being under manned
Nice work Mike and crew! I never tried mixing the color in the release, looks to work good. It took me a while to get good at the liquid release, but so much cleaner, I pushed through the learning curve. I like the bigger Ashlar stamps also, I really think they make it a lot easier to hold your pattern, too.
you guys make stamping look easy. I would get messed up with the timing of when to start. You have a good group of guys that know the importance of timing.
Awesome job Mike
Great job as always Mike. Love the summer but working in the heat and humidity isn't enjoyable that's for sure. I could feel the relief you must have felt when you knew you were finishing up the stamping and getting all done before the real heat kicked in as the day carried on.....☀️ Nice job Mike !
Nice work, very fast. Don’t you use any tampers?
Great job Mike, really like the stamped look 👍🏼👍🏼
I’ve seen some stamp jobs go horribly wrong and the problem is not enough help and working together . You had 5 guys and no one was standing still for a minute.…couple things I always consider in the summer or hot sunny days. Avoid noontime pours. Also we try to pour from the sun to the shade if it’s an option. It gives us some breathing room if the last truck is in the shade. Truck spacing is critical in the summer too. Don’t want the mix cooking in the truck. Luckily for me I’m primarily doing sidewalks with a broom finish. Another great video Mike
Looks good Mike and Crew….. I think a broken edge face and a heavy stone 12 inch border would have looked nice but it’s not mine and what the customer wants is their choice
Looks awesome. What about the last corner? Looks like you missed some texture on it..
Pro’s don’t pound it 😆👊. They dance. A ha. Cha cha cha 🏁. Rather work w 2/3 guys that know what thier doing than 6 that don’t The big Ashlar slate Stamps the best or. Big texture Matt’s ! “Your. Work is. Top Notch !
Hey Mike, curious 🤔. Do you ever put a retarder in the first truck load and not the second to help slow it down while you pour the second truck load
How much powder release do u mix with the liquid release agent
Amazing 👍🏻 don’t scare us like that
Mike, what was your mix design? Are you using a round aggregate and a higher sand to stone ratio??
Did u use any day one to slow it down?
we never do more than 6-7 yards at a time unless it wide open
We did stamped with color at portofino Bay Orlando Florida
Powder color
Looks great
Why not use a bulll float instead of a funny float
