    I just completed your FREE Beginner Course, and I must say you do an incredible job walking through the build step-by-step... this is so incredibly helpful! I have taken other courses online, and completed several exercises on YT, but you by far do the best at explaining Plasticity and your approach for each object as you model. I cant thank you enough for putting the time into these videos, it really shows! And I look forward to completing your other courses!

    This is a great video, but I wonder how you would use this to create an actual part as opposed to something that just looks like a product. How do you get precision in this process?

    Plasticity seems to me like the result if Blender and SketchUp had a child. It seems - from this brief introduction - to have the best features of both programs.

    Very nice! You know, I have tried many times freeaCAD.. And struggled to understand strange (for me) construction mode, so I said for myself, for hobbyist, for create something small, what was broken at home, I have no solution.. Solution are expensive or on cloud.. But this seems to be intuitive.. And I have checked prices, reasonable, one time payment, not squeezing money from customer, hobbyist, who is not use it for business.. Please, is it possible to enter measurement? Also I have seen, that is not parametric, ok, for my purpose is still enough to have undo.. Thank you for video! 👍

    I'd love to see some videos on how to model with precise dimensions. I model in Fusion 360 and the 2 things keeping me from using Placticity is the lack of dimension tools and threads.
    Thoughts? But great videos - I've seen several of yours and they are very helpful.

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Platicity is not really intended for precise, manufacturing modeling etc... Therefore are other software like Fusion360, Solidworks etc.
      Plasticity is explicitly for artists, concepts and a more creative workflow.
      That's why I like to use it. And that's what I am using it for. For creating fast, creative concepts, design etc.
      I am just not interested in precise modeling and I never needed it.

    • @magicrules516
      @magicrules516 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nikita.kapustin I'd love something that can do precision work this simply....... this looks awesome as a "simpler" blender. Since it is a much more focused software, it can do a lot of things a lot easier than blender, which has a billion functions.

    • @KCBender
      @KCBender ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would be great if we could have dimension tools. This program looks fantastic, but there are times when I just need to model something attractive, and in other cases I want to model an item that must precisely fit somewhere. I see when, for example sketching a rectangle the dimensions are shown - now if they could just be input with a keyboard and edited that would be fantastic. I come from using Solidworks and it is just difficult to imagine working without being able to precisely change a dimension easily.

    • @designstudie
      @designstudie ปีที่แล้ว

      that is exactly my concern. I like the precise workflow in fusion, even though it is sometimes slow. I watched some tutorials about plasticity, but i am not sure if i can for instance build a booth with exact dimensions or a product.

    I installed it on a laptop and can’t move the grid around like you are. I’m using a touchpad. Do I need a mouse? Also, how do you change the units? It’s set to meters and everything I’ll be designing is better suited to millimeters or inches. Thanks for your great videos.

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely buy a mouse. A 10$ mouse will be 2Million times better already then using a touch pad for modeling.
      Regarding units:
      Top left settings -> Grids & UNits

    • @Demosophist
      @Demosophist ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't even find the grid. There's just a blue line the end of which keeps scrolling down off the page with the mouse wheel. Clicking the grid icon just moves the line. I turned on "snap to grid" but without a grid it's sort of useless.

    I don't understand one thing. Once you have a solid, you can't modify points? At least, I can't find a way to move points on a solid.

  • @asd-fw7yb
    @asd-fw7yb ปีที่แล้ว

    Nikita, I have a request, can you explain what is the difference between SOLID and SHEET . I made a solid and it looks like a solid (all walls are closed) but it shows me that it is a SHEET. Why ?

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Solid:
      - Represents a three-dimensional object with volume.
      - Has mass and can be measured in terms of volume.
      - Fully enclosed; no gaps or holes.
      Sheet:
      - Represents a thin, flat, two-dimensional surface in a 3D space.
      - Does not have volume like a solid, but can exist in a 3D model.
      - Like a piece of paper in the 3D world.
      If you "think" it's a solid but it shows you a sheet. Select that sheet. Press "F" search for "Find boundary edges" and look out for those edges. Close them and you should have a solid!:)

    Is a STL Support comming in Plasticity?

  • @MrSunamo
    @MrSunamo ปีที่แล้ว

    This program has such great potential, but it seems like there isn't full GPU support. My system handles Blender just fine, but everything is janky in Plasticity. Navigation around an object feels awkward, with no smooth motion at all. Hopefully it is improved in future versions.

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hearing the first time, that Plasticity feels janky. It should work absolutely smoothly on any system. Maybe reinstall it or write to the support.
      Also if I am not wrong, it runs mostly entirely on CPU.

    is it possible to cover error correction, like lets say the inner object created is too big and want to reduce the size. do i delete everything and start again or is there a way to use scales or some other function. another eg is lets say i find the bevels too think and want to correct that, would there be a way to do it non destructively?

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. If you want to correct the size of the inner object you can select the body and press "S" "S" ans scale it.
      Or you go into face mode "3" and select all the faces you want to make smaller. WHen you will select the faces you will get this control to drag/adjsut the size.
      2. The same for fillets. Go into face mode "3" and select the bevel. Than you will get the drag / control and you can adjust the size of it

    Great- The only minor confusion that the outer part did not fuse in the course of boolean operation.

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  ปีที่แล้ว

      What exactly do you mean? Did you selected both and pressed Q Q?

    • @johannesgreiner2690
      @johannesgreiner2690 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean the most outer part. In your (by the way very nice) tutorial you have selected 3 parts in preparation for a boolean union. But only 2 parts were fused. This is visible in your video, directly after the boolean operation you are going on to move the resulting new solid along a axis, but the most outer part was not fused and as a result did not move. I am relatively new to 3D desgin, but my conclusion is that the boolean operation will succed only when all parts are intersecting each other. Since you did a cut between most outer part and the contained part inside, the intersectio requirement was not met. Only my observation- kindly correct me if I am wrong on this.

    Yeah, but after deleting the cube I can't find the grid or the shape I made. Also, scrolling the zoom doesn't reveal anything. Creating objects in invisible space reminds me of the Mad Hatter's tea party. WTF?

    • @Demosophist
      @Demosophist ปีที่แล้ว

      I restarted and now there's just a blue vertical line. No grid.

    • @Demosophist
      @Demosophist ปีที่แล้ว

      Found I can adjust the navigation so it's like blender. I did finally get a grid created but I'm not sure how I did it. For awhile there was just a Z axis definition. That was apparently the blue line. At some point the grid showed up with the proper increments, so I just extended it in preferences.
      I needed to make a parallelogram solid with specific angles. I can move an edge to make the parallelograph, but I don't know how to make it a specific amount. Just moving the arrow on the axis doesn't allow precision, so how do you do that?
