However - care to detail a bit? Have you used the Q3 as a wired PC VR set? Currently, I play single mostly driving games like AC, F122, Project Cars2... How do you think this compares? (yes, I am aware the rift s is a bit old now)
Regard Q3 vs Q2 - what made you decide to get the Quest 3 over - maybe - a better deal quest 2?

I've been wanting to get into VR for a ling time, but no matter which of these headsets emerge on the market, they just never seem ready for prime time and have too many drawbacks to justify the cost for me. We're up to the 3rd version of this, and still, in my opinion, it's just not ready, outside of a novelty experience or experiment. I want to dive into this bad, but am hesitant. I enjoy gaming and play on PC and PS5 but when you want something a bit different, more light hearted and fun, to be social or not, the Quest 2 is my go to and I've thoroughly enjoyed it, I still use it frequently now. The Quest 2 would be good for you to get into VR without it being too expensive (also if you have a friend, they can refer you and you can get $45 in credit to buy some games). I've played games like Onward, Contractors, POP1, Resident evil 4 (an absolute masterpiece by the way) and a few others, all countless hours of fun. Honestly you won't regret it!

For me everything abut it is pretty much perfect. However, this is also coming from someone who has been using an Oculus rift CV1 semi-regularly ever since it's release. So I love even the most basic stuff in comparison. like not having to use those annoying tracking sensors which were a pain in the ass for me and really crappy (especially compared to valve's index's but I can't afford that *sigh*) because I had mine on the ceiling corners since them being on the desk just would not work for my desk setup. controllers feel so much better, despite it's battery life it being wireless in general feels SO much better. But, I do have a PC link for longer sessions.
As for how long he describes playing, that sounds about right when it comes to more intensive games. It get tiring really fast after 30-40 mins lol. However, if you are like me and play just as much VRchat and/or roblox which are alot more on the chill/social side (sit and chat with people which can last for hours at times). You DEFINITELY want a PC link. And honestly it still does not feel that bad. I don't notice it because you're not doing crazy stuff in those games all the time. so no need for that much freedom. And then if you want to do regular games for a bit, just pop it off and get to wireless gaming ! Biggest reason why my oculus rift eventually collected dust was literally because of the need to plug in and setup every single time. I eventually stopped bothering for a whole year before I got this lol.
I give them a 10/10 compared to the CV1, and a 8/10 over all. I bought the elite strap with it, and am beyond greatful I did because I tried to default strap for a little. it is NOT it, feels really awkward and hurt my ears. It would still be nice to have longer bettery life and I might get the battery pack straps in the future, but still solid purchase and extremely good if you want an ugprade.

Totally agree. Had quest 2, reverb g2, and play both standalone and PCVR. If you want the best visuals , you need to wait for Vive to finally release a headset or get Varjo Areo, which is twice the price for the unit alone. To get VR/AR Varjo XR3 is amazing but seriously expensive, and you better have a killer PC. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be better than G2, but those lenses and also that chip make a world of difference. I don't also feel the need to connect it to PC much. I am excited to see when games are written to take advantage of the technology. Just added a BOBO headstrap and absolutely love it. It's definitely a step up from Q2 and G2.

But I also get a little tired of it after about an hour anyways like you were saying so the battery life hasn’t been really ruining it for me. Beat Saber is 3gb, Synth Riders 2.6gb, Swarm 2.3gb, the Climb 2gb, Pistol Whip 2gb, Light Brigade 1.7gb, Superhot 0.7gb. But then there are some FPS games that are like 10-20gb. Some big RPGs can be more than 20gb. Some of my biggest games are Red Matter 2 (9gb), walking dead Saints & sinners (7.4gb), Pavlov’s Shack (7gb before mod maps), Comtractors (10.5gb with no maps, but it gets to like 20gb with). I mainly use it for PC VR and even when connected via an official meta USB-C cable, the unit still drains albeit not quite as fast. Pass through is also very grainy and not what you see in reviews unless you are probably playing in a very well lit studio or outside. Controllers are improved feeling a little more premium. Overall an upgrade on the previous unit but with some annoyances. Still arguably the best headset at this price for PC VR with the added flexibility of being able to be cable free.

Well summed up. I got mine a few days after launch and have mostly been playing my old games, most of them not optimized for it. But I agree with everything you said so far in roughly the month I've owned it (minus the PCVR experience, as I don't utilize it yet). As stated in the video, I'm also more of a 20-30 minutes at a time guy and I just typically seem to be ready for a break- so the battery life hasn't been a huge issue for me- but it is noticeably poor. I really don't know who is playing these things for hours at a time, but that's not something I expect to do any time soon. So far I'm happy with it and hoping for some really cool apps to be released soon.

Hi Gr8 video. I'm having an issue with my Quest 3. Actually returned my last one because of this issue and its still a problem for me on the new one. Basically I call it the veil effect. When I look through the lenses/screen I see this very light weight net veil which is fixed in place in the real world whilst looking at the vr world behind it. It's like a noise effect which doesn't move and is imprinted onto the screen. Now this effect is subtle and it is either on the lens or the screen, but I find it extremely distracting at times to a point I can't stop seeing it and it's taking away from my VR experience as I keep focusing on it. It covers the entire screen and is more visible with higher brightness settings but still there on low setting. And more visible on flat colour areas such as the sky in the home screen as an example. If I move my head around I can see the issue.
Having owned a Q1 and Q2 this is not an issue and I have looked at those headsets again to check.
Do you have the same problem? Or am I just extremely unlucky and its some kind of manufacturing defect.

I didn't no the quest 3 came out, I saw it in gamestop I was super excited until they told me the price. I decided to pass on the quest 3 at least until it comes down in price. I have a quest 2 and a valve index so the q3 isn't a must. Price point is a hard sell when u still need a head strap, extended battery and for less money you could buy a new ps5 or Xbox.

it's impressive with much improved clarity due to the new lenses but there's just so little to do on it, same old problem with VR. I only use it for fitness apps like FitXR & Les Mills, it would be nice to have some quality AAA games as well. Comfort seems worse than the 2 as well. Dunno how you've stuck with the default strap, it makes it completely unusable for me, the elite strap is essential although still not particularly comfortable.

For me, exercise apps are the most compelling reason I'll be coming back very frequently. The Quest 3 brought me back to VR after not really using it since the Rift S.
I find it comfortable with the Elite Strap w battery, I get about 4 hours of use with the 120hz option off and the brightness about 50%, and I have a 20000 lithium battery that is very light that I can put in my pocket for another couple of hours. That is more than enough battery. I never have to lower the graphics swtting. Also I prefer the Silicon interface as it's easy to clean.
Not sure why the Pico would be recommended when they are laying off a huge amount of their staff.

I had the rift s, it was rather fun, but it collected dust a lot and most of the time I didn't like bothering even setting it up. Quest 2 was a game changer for me, rarely ever play PCVR now. Quest 3 was everything I was hoping for, passthrough liberates you so much I don't even put it off, if I have to take s short break or talk with my GF. I really like the experience and use it a couple of days each week. Most of the time just for a short 30min session. But you are right inside the game and I love that aspect. I also play completely other games than I expected, many sport or music titles, some contractors, cubism, smash rock VR, Red Matter and movies! Ton of movie watching in passthrough and especially for 3D. Was totally worth it for me, so I suggest give it a try if you have the possibility to. Only thing I'm missing: currently the ecosystem is more or less only games, really missing native Netflix etc integration

the app store is pretty poor i got bored of no decent new games and most are extremely basic much more like short mobile games rather than console or pc not to mention facebook are clearly using it to track everything you do.
Not the future i wanna live in..id wait for valve to release a better version but even then i can see it dying out like 3d tvs before it really gets adoption

The Apple Vision Pro is more of a proof of concept than anything and its goal is to carve out its own niche in the MR space. I highly doubt it's gonna run SteamVR PC titles, it's Apple after all, they're only now starting to dip their toes into serious gaming with the new iPhone. • @nathanlonghair
      @nathanlonghair 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

They haven't done a helmet because it would be a bad idea on almost all axis.
Heat would be overwhelming, you'd pay extra for the added material and design, it'd be even trickier to get to fit multiple head shapes and sizes, and cleaning would be an even bigger issue.
Meanwhile space for hardware is not really a problem - weight, heat and the price of the extra hardware is. While still not great, a backpack would be much better if you want a full portable pc.
The biggest issue with space is for battery, and some headsets solve that quite elegantly by putting it on the strap at the back, so it balances weight distribution and doesn't get heated by the other hardware.
In other words: Outside a "cool look" factor a few people want, it offers nothing but downsides.
