Being Sticky-Fingered

  • The plaintiffs gave the defendant money to hold onto for safekeeping while their bedroom was being painted. The defendant then told the plaintiffs the money was stolen by a thief, but the plaintiffs don’t believe her, so they’re suing. The defendant insists a robber did steal the money, and she even filed a police report.

    Iv known thieves only take some of the money ,its usually someone that knows you. They will leave a chunk of cash so if you look in there you think its still there ,or they assume you don't know how much is there in the first place. It's a stupid way of stealing and thinking they won't realise. But always and I mean 100% of the time someone does this they know you. A robber breaking into your house will take it all. So it's either someone the defendant knew or the defendant thought she could steal some and the plaintiff wouldn't realise.

      You're absolutely right. A real robber will ransack the place, looking in every little nook and cranny for things. They're not going to know exactly where a key is to a drawer, even if the key is in the adjacent drawer. It's almost like you would have to be so smart to know that your victim is so stupid as to put their key right next to the lock. Whoever took this money knew exactly what they were doing.

    I worked in an office building my position was building maintenance. I received a call one night that there was a break into a tenant suite. I arrived onsite to find someone ATTEMPTED to prier open the desk drawer. The tenant said he had 7k in an envelope and that the janitors stole 5K of it. He called the police. I said my janitors would not break into the one desk drawer that had the money in it, leave a mess, and locked the front door behind them. Not to mention next to his desk there is a 2' X 3' safe on the floor. I spent the next few hours waiting on law enforcement. He called again at 1Am and they told him someone will be out the following day. Because the front door wasn't broken into they didn't consider it an immediate emergency. That following day I get a call from that tenant to report missing computers. We were in his office for hours with not one mention of anything else stolen. I don't know the final outcome of this but I do know he tried to get the company that I worked for to reimburse him for the missing money and computers. These people are out there!

    Since the whole case and all 3 litigants wreak of complete stupidity, it should have been 50/50 responsibility. 50% responsibility goes to the plaintiff's for not having a safe place to put the money up, like a bank account, & 50% responsibility from the defendant for ever even agreeing to hold that much money for someone, only to place the key in plain sight. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @albertol9654
      @albertol9654 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree.. Also there was no contract stating if the money is lost, she has to pay them back. I think it should of been $0 for the plaintiff for allowing herself to be in that position without a contract neither. Judge Milian always preaches contracts on toilet paper and crayons but not on this one. 🤦‍♂️

    Ok to be honest the plaintiff sounded shady and I feel bad for the defendant. But let’s be real, if anyone really understands how banking works, why question why “some” people would not trust banks with their money. If the recent bank collapses doesn’t prove the point that you can’t trust banks I don’t know what will. Those people who had their money in those banks were out of luck. The ones that were able to recoup anything still has to wait for a lengthy process. So let’s not all act like people who choose to keep their money out of banks are just weird. They are actually ahead of the game.
