Almost nothing he talked about like linking with other travelers works and you just get errors the whole time. The only thing that works on the app is showing you the restaurants and at which gate they’re at. His app is basically just a food directory for the airport.

He’s never been knocked down before and always been told “you’re the greatest” .. I hope the best for him, but this is something he needed. The world is cruel and you’re not always gonna be the winner. Re-evaluate yourself and your ideas and sharpen them. You’re just pitching a seed that could be a giant tree of ideas.
In life at least he'll know he's the greatest to his Mom. There's nothing wrong with that. I fact, that is a beautiful gift for there will come a day when his mother will no longer be this side of heaven and on one of his hardest days he'll hear her voice whisper, "You're the greatest." One thing is for sure there is nothing in this world quite like having a loving mother. At the end of the day, she's still believing in her son while they passed him by. Loving parents are a priceless treasure. Perhaps that's the best reality check yet. People come and go throughout our lives but loving parents and family are priceless gifts and treasures. ❤️
I used to work in an airport... this was never an issue... passengers would actually ask me and other workers where the best food was... we simply told them which gate or terminal to go to... this isnt like Waze or google maps, where if you get lost, you end up in another state... haha
This was possibly the best thing that could have happened to him. God knows he needed that. To be honest, I think they were very nice to him especially with such a lack of self awareness, accountability and lack of real product substance. They could have fed his ego and sent him off for failure but they chose to help him with real valuable advice. Get a grip mate lol and good luck.
yep, that whole interaction with his mom wasn't the greatest look either. She does it out of love but the whole "you're so smart and brilliant" schtick is not helping him.
I don't think weeping, being dramatic with over-the-top gestures, blaming your issues on a lack of a rich uncle and viscerally embarrassing yourself in front of millions of people was the best thing that could have happened to him.
I also agree with the fact that the app has no competitive advantage. Google literally does the same exact thing. He even said he used Google’s coding patterns (Or something like, I’m not into CS and coding). The fact that with his app, he’s trying to “connect” travelers is not enough to dominate the market and completely run over google.
His app communicates with the Google maps API which means it can only get publicly available info that Google already shows in their own maps. That’s part of why they drilled him about getting better info via deals with the airports.
I agree. Also, the food places are always situated near the terminals and also noone stresses over food choices prior to a flight. They'll go to Starbucks.
I really hope Ryan learned a lot from this experience. I wouldn't exactly call his actions playing 'victim', but his expectations did not align with reality, which brings a natural feeling of 'unfairness' and hurt. In truth, there aren't any rules being broken at his expense, just his expectations were out of line, and he needs to adjust with the advice he's been given.
No, he'll sink more time into the product and further into depression when he realises he turned down facebook/ google, got publicly humilated and having his brother manually input all the information paid off for nothing. I reckon if you met him on the street he'd say "They were wrong!!" while pouting like a baby looking upset again.
He needed the reality check way earlier. He's the epitome of what being sheltered, told he was the best at everything, and his emotions are the most important thing. This is the future of America and it shows how doomed we are.
I still don’t understand why he didn’t take the 9-5 at google or Facebook and just work on his product whenever he has time yes he would have less time to work on it but at least he’s able to sustain himself.
He didn’t say thank you because the new generation believes in shutting out the person and going into shut down and breakdown mode. I blame the public school 🏫 system.
Cuban is a savage man....love that guy. It was rough to watch this kids dream crumble in front of him but he's not listening to people who have been there and done it.
This episode of Shark Tank should be a prerequisite for students studying Business Management, or individuals who are looking to start their own businesses.
the way he walked in shame showed his business experience. theres 1000 let downs in business and the sharks were 100% right about how that will either amp you up to fix the problem, or make you quit.
Wasn’t until I finished colllege and got a job and entered the “real world” that I realized people do this every day with many more struggles than me. Kids, daycare, mortgage, rent, insurance, aging parents, divorce, marriage, etc… at that age, you don’t realize that your struggle is no different from others’
People are allowed to be human. You think none of the sharks ever had a moment like this in their lives either? You could tell he was hurting, but you can tell that he also had that passion, that fire driven behind him. The sharks were definitely right to tell him what he NEEDED to hear, and they weren't doing it out of malice. Here's to hoping he learns from their wisdom and comes back fighting with an actual product.
Hmm? Bro put google API, menu from some restaurants in airport, and MANUALLY update the data and call it app. Its like an app made by beginner, but to make a product out of this? Its horrible. None of the feature work. The only thing that works is an OUTDATED restaurant menu. Im not kidding you when i say third year at my Uni can code better than him
The problem is not countless effort on "something thats not useful" The problem is his "effort" to code only shows hes bad at it. I can understand lack of usefulness the app. What trully irritates me are his spaghetti code
@@nomad640 oh man. Yeah I just downloaded the app and it would probably take a day or 2 to get all of the basic functionality of the application working. Another day or 2 for the UI/UX. It doesn’t even work at the moment lol. Looks like he gave up on it.
It was Good for the sharks to give him some tough love and a reality check. I believe he is currently a partner with base ventures so he hasn’t had time to update the app but I’m sure he will soon.
this guy was me in my 20s. I struggled in several different ways and thought it was so unfair that I was the only one who seemed to struggle. I'm glad my realization of this wasn't captured on national television and immortalized on TH-cam.
His story would be so much better, to the point of becoming an entrepreneur, if only the product he was pitching was actually solving something great. These apps are everywhere already, it takes huge amounts to fight the giants who’re already doing this.
yup, and folks like Ryan won't be able to get his hands on Data/Cookie/Cache information sold to Google which is the main reason why Googles API is superior and cannot be competed against.
His “product” is nothing special, just because he thought that he had put in hours and hours into it, he thinks he would achieve something. It’s amazing how naive he is, for all that education he has apparently received!
He's too computer science focused to see that his business is not ready. Depending on how optimized his app is, I would use it when I travel for business. He's right about how confusing airports are to see what's available. I fly out of DFW and something like Trippie would be clutch.
Most places have live maps you can use to navigate now and given that he's just working off information he gathers from websites, all I see the app doing is basically saving you a google search.
His business lacks from innovation. He’s using Google Map’s API, which would make Trippie a subset of Google Maps. Trippie would be great for a college project but it is by no means progressive.
@Betta Warrior now I am beginning to realize that the reactions under this video is not really about the product but just hate. Which could be sentimentally or racially motivated.
If he had just held back the tears until after the doors closed, I would have said that he did great! Doing his "after shark tank moment video" if he wanted to breakout a few tears while promoting his businss and never gonna give up, it would have worked in his favor much better than doing it in front of the sharks.
