I went to 8 concerts in 2025, plus ProgPower in Atlanta. The concerts in order were - 1) Crypta 2) Haken 3) Journey with Toto 4) Deep Purple with Yes 5) Architects with We Came As Romans and Brutus 6) Jinjer with Hanabie and Born of Osiris 7) Iron Maiden with The Hu and 8) BabyMetal
I won't list all the bands I saw at ProgPower, but my top 10 were (in the order I saw them) - Nospun, Temperance, Leprous, Dark Tranquility, Soen, Lovebites, Amorphis, Frozen Crown, Damian Wilson, and Winger
My top 3 would be - 3) the US debut of Lovebites 2) the amazing one two punch of Hanabie and Jinjer 1) my all time favorite metal band Iron Maiden with The Hu
As far as the BabyMetal show, I totally agree with you about the opening band Scene Queen for the same reason. The crowd, especially in the balcony where i sat, had a lot of young girls, many who were dressed up. The vocalist that goes by Scene Queen should have respected the audience that came to see BabyMetal and toned it down.
I had no complaints with the sound at the BabyMetal show, but I had a big problem with the lighting. Many times while BabyMetal was performing, the stage lighting was so dark you could barely see them. By far the worst stage lighting of any show I attended last year.

I saw Lovebites in Atlanta - best show I've ever attended in my life - bar far. Faun - reminded me of my trips to the Ren Faire. It sounded like a fun song, but their music is not something I would ever pay to see. I assume there was a different energy level at the show you saw, because in this video you shared there wasn't much at all.

Babymetal and Faun are two of my all time favorite bands. However, I had “neglected” Faun for a few years. Thanks for reminding me. And by the way: good taste in music and good content.

@@multiversalsounds1590 Glad I reminded you! I appreciate your comment. All of the bands I picked were favorites in one way or another.
That is one of the main reasons I went outside strictly performance. As an example, the performance of Babymetal is amazing, but the acoustics were abysmal and their opening band, inappropriate. Both were factors that affected my overall experience. Another example, at the JP/Sabaton show, it was an arena and I had some asshat bumping into me while going back and forth to buy more beer.
Overall experience = performance + vibe + venue

Nice performance from Faun, looks like a good show to have been at.
So for 2025, Spiritbox is playing in Grand Rapids on Apr 27 at a place called 'GLC Live at 20 Monroe'.
And for any concerts you do go to this year, 🧤 😝 😂

I became a fan of Faun when they came out with "Walpurgusnacht". Albeit, after seeing the online concert in France, that pretty much cemented the fact that I wanted to see them "live". (By hook or by crook) Thank goodness for their upcoming San Francisco show. BTW, Judas Priest was my all time favorite Metal group during my High School era. Saw them live only once, with Iron Maiden. (Spectacular show!)

@@sanjuro66 Priest has been my favorite since I first heard then on Hellbent for Leather/Killing Machine. I get it. Halford is, and shall always be, the "Metal God" to me.
Some people are not getting that my choice is based upon my overall "experience" at the shows. Performance, crowd, venue, and vibe. All of the performances were fantastic and if that was the only factor involved, I doubt that I could have made a choice.
Each performance was off the charts amazing. I feel that it is also unfair to directly compare metal, rock and folk crowds.
That led me to taking the venue and overall experience into consideration. It was not easy, trust me.
If it was based upon performance alone, there is no way I could have made a choice.

Any thoughts about going to see Lovebites in Mexico at a metal venue. It is in March. I really enjoyed Faun in this reaction. My first exposure to this type of music was Blackmore's Night starting back in the late 1990s. If you have not heard of them, you would find many similarities, at least in my opinion.

Lovebites did as well at their 8000 seat Tokyo show this past fall. Everyone except the drummer came down and walked through the aisles playing, singing, and high fiving the audience during one of their songs.

Sounds like you do not have an understanding of the relationship between paganism and metal music, especially black metal. Faun's most recent album is actually called Pagan. One of my favorite bands is SAOR which is a Scottish atmospheric black/ folk metal band. They will release a new album soon. Another is HELGA which is fronted by the amazing Helga Gabriel. Not surprisingly they are both on the exceptional Season of Mist label. You should give those two bands a try. Most metal fans appreciate and enjoy hearing the roots of black metal, folk metal and, of course, pagan metal. Other metal fans, however, need to take off the blinders and expand their horizons.

Honestly, for an 'encore' performance by Faun, I can only think to describe the song as "a bridge to nowhere". The entire song sounded like a tension-filled buildup with no ultimate crescendo and strong, impactful payoff. Unfortunately, it fell disappointingly flat for me. As a lifelong musician, I was sincerely hoping to really like it, though. However, obviously, they're all great musicians and vocalists in their own right.
