    I tried the free trial, and as amazing as this is for unmixing clean, well produced audio, it's still not quite there if you want to unmix, say, lower fidelity audio recorded forty years ago on a cheap cassette four track with lots of track bouncing. It can't distinguish a guitar from a keyboard or even separate vocal tracks under these conditions. I also tried acid testing it with a 78rpm recording, and as you might expect, the limited frequency range and lack of stereo space really undermines the effectiveness of the algorithms. But still, this is fantastic, and I'll definitely be watching for future releases. The improvement between versions 9 and 10 is noticeable.

    Bought spectralayers 10 ! It's awesome!!!!! I did a test, a mix song, in the "best quality" mode, of a 3.15 minute song on 3 different apple computers:
    iMac 27 late 2013 - 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core 32 gb ram , unmix time : 6.01 minutes
    MacBook Air M1 8 gb ram, time 3.53 minutes,
    MacBook Pro 16” 2019 2,3 Ghz Intel Core I9 , 16 Gb ram unmix time : 4.38 minutes

    Bravo, Hello, it is a great project, super features, it seems like it will provide a lot of work for us songwriters, you can also work on Turkish Instruments, especially Baglama, I think it will add many features to your projects!.. Scala and Depth are quite nice, loud and have a lot of effects!.. .

    On best quality, I failed to convincingly isolate a harpsichord from a harpsichord - cello duo in a clear acoustic. The Guitar track features a vague approximation of the harpsichord as from a nearby room, but sounding more like a lute. Cello mostly on Other but also intermittently on Guitar. Try out your chosen ensemble first. Very sophisticated programming but, not unnaturally, optimised for a particular subset of instruments. NOTES: adding Guitar track to Project improves presence of the previously swamped harpsichord without noticeable artifacts. And separating a trio item with cello, harpsichord and Soprano worked significantly better.

    • @mikescheibinger5191
      @mikescheibinger5191 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The key here is, the sound to be extracted needs to be louder on one of the channels. The process first analyses the difference between channels, and then that difference is applied across the spectrum-*no matter what* the sound is. The algorithm isn't looking for 'sax'-rather, it's looking for 'difference'. Once you internalize that concept, the process is super easy to understand, and you'll actually be able to predict how well it's going to work. This tool is sort of analogous to the Harmonics Tool, which reaches above (and even below) a selected harmonic to grab other harmonics that are perhaps buried in the sound.

    • @Superlead1970
      @Superlead1970 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, so if I in a stereo file have a, say, electric guitar or harmony voice that is louder in one of the two channels than in the other, SL10 would identify it and separate it onto an individual layer?

    • @mikescheibinger5191
      @mikescheibinger5191 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Superlead1970 Yes-that's the idea. I think that, the more unique the degree of separation, the better the result will be.

    Have there been any improvmeents in Touchscreen and Pen support? The Tablet/Desktop modes I've never really thought did anything, not to the extent of something like Bitwig where the interface changes to support pen and touch quite drastically. The GUI in V9 seems to get confused with multi-touch even when using a pen too which gets annoying.
