Thank you for sharing. I am about to build a shredder for plastic. I have 12 blades available. Dimentions are OD118mm and Thickness 8mm. My question is: Should I have all blades on only one axis or two axis rutning against each other?

Yes, it is a very satisfying sound.
I want to make one of these. With a hopper, a chute, and a hold-down-for-ON switch. Release to STOP and pull up to reverse. But there is going to be a point during construction when there is no hopper, no chute, no safeSwitch when there will be some "testing" to be done.
what you really have to add is an emergency stop witch close to that gearbox, if your hand gets stuck by accident.

if that thing eat some finger around that kind of the machine must have deep feed longer than human hand with locked door down if something stuck etc. and than can be safe for usage.

I have a question about the machine and especially the powerusage of it.
I had to thought if the energy that it needs to run this machine isnt as harmfull for the nature as the things you destroyed. Of course it depends of the way the energy is "produced". But I just wondered :)

Would this be strong enough to grind up waste food such as frozen foods such as banana peels, broccoli, or pumpkins? I have been looking to build a shredder to grind up my food waste for composting and this looks to be about the right size.
