- My silver developed this noise a few the years back, didn’t think much of it back then until I started searching the web and that’s when I realized what it was. I am not sure of the long term damage this may cause but I also don’t want to get preyed on by local mechanics.
You've had that tick for 4 or 5 years???? Makes me feel good then since mine just started doing that.
Turned out to be a little seal
Had mine making the noise on and off last few months, goes after after a fresh change, comes back with in 2k miles. Add oil and I don't seem to notice much. Usually when I'm at the drive thru's
How mine is now but it started ticking but once I drove back from college the ticking stopped but it came back
Yeha same noise and my cower had his doing that for 3 years mine just started
@@cressidadic980 I fixed my tick, try to use some oil treatment but the top tier kind. Drive on it for a while and the tick should go away for you I hope as it did for me.
First i’d make sure you’re only going 3k on oil changes and I’d also run some marvel mystery oil in the crankcase. The lifters can get sticky in the bores and the marvel really helps clean the engine along with regular oil changes
Mine had the same noise. I put half a quart of marvel mystery oil on every oil change. Noise went away 👍
Mine blew up 05 sierra
Called the “Ol’ 5.3 Lifter Tick”, pretty common. Throw a little oil in there, she’ll make it another 400k.
I have the same problem. Gonna do ls7 lifters, cam, DoD delete and tune. 2010 Yukon Denali.
Sounds like a lifter tick eventually it will wear the loads down on your cam and destroy the cam then it won’t run until you change, cam and lifters
Just put one quart of transmission oil in the oil and is going to clean the inside of your engine
It would be louder
It's probably not even a lifter, yr engine would've been capoots, maybe a bad spark plug
Great tut on how to destroy your 5.3
Put some MMO in it.
