@@normalguydoesitall i am doing one of these in my garden so its good to learn from others.what are the measurments for the roof peices ?ive got cement for free and the pallets for free and im up to 27 so far but havent built it yet.why are you putting planks inbetween them ?
I just love this barn idea. I thought of this idea before but wasn't sure if it would be doable for structured reasons. But your build has changed my mind. I did have a question on the green paint on the bottom of your 2x4s is it a protective barrier of some kind?
Thank you! of course this idea works I have had this barn for over three years and everything is still in good condition. This green liquid is a wood preservative, it protects the wood from moisture and rotting.
Super project. Stylish and awesome. Appreciate your skill to adjust the pallets which are mostly not so perfect for easy assembling the rectangular construction. I wonder how you had made such a correct planning of the concrete belt to fit the future pallet perimeter, keeping in mind the size differences. Even small. Great vision and proper hands!!! Nothing but the great respect! Do not ming the bloody stupid useless haters! During pandemia the wood went up 4 times even in Russia. And the project that size would cost a fortune. Rough indication at 15 KEuro (based on you latest video). So your idea encourages me a lot for the same doing. For my garage and sauna buildings. All the best for Estonia. Had a good friend Kaido from Tallinn in Soviet Army times...
Hey, thank you for your comment i really enjoy such comments from all over the world. The pallets that I use are good and I get them through a friend and I have already laid the foundation according to their dimensions. I don't notice the haters, i have thick skin ;) In Estonia, too, the prices of wood and other construction materials have increased several times. It's nice to hear that you have a friend in Tallinn, it's like the saying "the world is small" Please watch my other videos too, there are more videos from this barn build, this barn is almost ready and the animals are already using it. Thank you again and I wish you all the best, greetings from Estonia ;)
Thank you! Yes we had a building permit for this building, and the building is on the building register. Please watch other videos as well, there are more of them and the barn is ready by now. Thanks again!
I am very interested to do the same but two things aren't very clear to me : I can see there is a kind of rail onto which the first pallets are placed. Is it made of wood planks ? And how is it fixed on the concrete below ? If the rails are made out of wood isn't there a risk of them rotting? Thank you very much for sharing your project with us. Now I look forward to watching the other related videos!
Hey, the answer is also in the video description: Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor, and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. the impregnated beams do not rot as soon as they are also covered so that water does not reach them and are also above the ground. Thank you and all the best to you!
Thank you. I used screws to connect pallets together. The amount of screws on one pallet could be about 15 pcs, and the length of the screws was about 120cm (about 5 inches)
Ok i will try to answer. in English and then google translation. Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor , and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. I hope this helped.

Hello very impressive idea creativity I'm also going to make pallets only from the garage what is the dimension of these vertical boards between the pallets greetings from Poland
Thank you! the beams between the pallets are 5x15cm. I'm also currently building a garage, there are already four videos about it on my channel, go and see. Thank you!
I can't say the victory of time, but the victory of money is big because I have received a lot of material for free, because they are someone's leftovers.
Very cute and I love the floor but I’m wondering: Won’t the slatted pallets allow pretty much every type of weather to blow right through? Doesn’t look like much protection for the horses from cold wind, rain and snow. Also, the pallet wood is not particularly thick. Couldn’t a horse easily kick through them and injure itself when its leg is pulled back through? And what type of trees were used for the pallet wood? Here where I live it’s nearly all cottonwood and after about a year in the elements, they don’t rot, they disintegrate!
Hey again, have you watched other videos of this build? then you know that the pallets are strong, the outer walls are boarded up, the roof is on and the doors are in place. I will start interior work soon and I will also put plywood on the interior walls, so so that neither the wind nor any weather can enter. Thank you!
Glad you put some upright through studs between some of the stacked pallets. They should have been between every pair of pallets and doubled at the corners. Also I wouldn’t have used those weak slat and block style pallets instead of the stronger slat on stringer type
Thank you! yes the upright beams are necessary to make the walls stronger. You may have misunderstood, but these are not weak pallets, these are the strongest pallets ever available here. The blocks are made of wood and not sawdust, and the boarding is made of strong thick boards. These pallets are designed to transport four 200L oil barrels ;) Thank you, see the following videos as well.
That load is on the top slats which is how the forks lift it. On end they aren’t load bearing. I would have doubled your top plate to lap the corners and long laps for the intermediate butt joints to strengthen the ‘beam’ between uprights. you know like a regular stud wall.
Thank you so much showing your barn project *Genious; like to try for application on my country manor. Your back-ground music interesting - last I heard Dekades back in Africa-Kongo by Katanga Gendarms ,,, repeating repeating songs - like falling in trance - after drinking Banana-Beer. Soooo awesome. I love this. Thank you. I have the opportunity to get my hands on some used, only used once or just made pallets and they’re heat treated. Are those ok to use after being heat treated? I thought it was better that they are rather then not? I’ve always wondered how strong they are if I were to build something like this? Hopefully it’s going well and serves its purpose. Turned out exactly how I imagined it should be “in my mind lol when thinking of gathering pallets and building something”. I think that everything turned out great. I just found your channel and absolutely had to subscribe. I can’t wait to start watching all of the videos you’ve made. I’ll have to get caught up. Maybe binge watch videos till I’m caught up lol. Thank you again for the inspiration!
Hey, Thank you for your very kind words! Heat treated pallets are good. The most important thing is that the pallets are made of strong material and that they are all the same size ;) I get my pallets from a motor oil reseller, all pallets are strong and all are the same sizes. Certainly watch my channel's other videos as well, there you will find a variety of construction, build and other videos, the channel is as the name says "Normal guy does it all" Thank you again!
Very nice build but only if your local council allows a Pallet build - some will not. What are you going to use for Cladding? More pallet wood? Or don't you need cladding? You could actually make very nice sheds from Pallets also and I've even made post and rail fences from recycling Red Gum fence posts and many pallets from a local roof tiling Manufacturer and most Fencing contractors just dump - along with the old Fencing palings - in Tips or land fills - which is such a waste of wood. Most new fences are replaced with treated pine fencing these days - but even the old hardwood palings that aren't too badly rotted where they are nailed to the railings - can still be recycled also. I've already used some Treated pine fence palings as Cladding for a shed and some of that can be found at new home building sites as either surplus or mistakes made by the fencing guys at times - but also, since the treated pine posts buckle and warp more often than not - even some newer fences need to be replaced sooner than the older Hard wood ones do. I'm recently considering using the old hardwood fence palings that I currently get from a local fencing contractor to mostly burn as firewood for my wood heater - that he is actually grateful for me taking away from his home as he normally just pays tip fees and dumps trailer loads of old fencing in land fills. I could either use the old Hardwood fence palings as Cladding or more recently, have considered those hardwood palings as possible use for Decking purposes at my bush property - for a deck between the existing single garage size shed and the caravan on that camping block. They are too thin to use as single decking and of course a little weaker where there is some slight rotting where they were nailed to the fence rails but overall not too bad - IF they were doubled up and overlapped to double thickness. I'm going to try that anyway - since the [free] palings are normally dumped or in my case have previously been firewood - I think doubled up they'd serve pretty well as decking. I was considering Pallet wood Decking but that being untreated pine - when separated from the Pallet itself - also warps and twists a little whereas the Hardwood fencing - no matter how old it is - seems to remain fairly straight. The older the Hardwood palings the more Brittle they seem to be but Doubled up could still be used as Decking I think, and, incidentally they could still be used as cladding also. The main advantage is cost effectiveness if you are on a budget. [ Free - but does take time to de-nail them, pallets and/or fence palings] In the case of Pallets though - IF you don't have a modern stapler or nail gun - you do get several barrels worth of reasonably still usable and most often only slightly rusty - nails. [ Yeah, takes time to straighten them out also - but what the Heck] If you are retired then time is not a problem - but Health can be.;) I use recycled auto sump oil [ diesel is best ] to preserve the straightened and slightly rusty nails if I'm going to keep them for any length of time for future use - since I only possess a conventional claw hammer - or two to three actually. ;) Needless to say I use the Sump oil for preserving the wood also and relatively recently made a front pallet wood Picket fence for my daughter in-law's place that is standing up to time much better than some of newer picket pine fences done by professionals in my neighbourhood area. ;) Australian weather conditions are not kind to some pine picket fences. ;) Incidentally, I decided to add a little non carpenters tip to any considering using Pallet wood as a Picket fence - I used the free Red gum fence posts [ once you cut off the rotted part that was in the ground] and would just place them 4 feet apart [ the length of a pallet roughly] and didn't need the conventional rails as I used Pallet wood rails top and bottom on Both sides of the Fence post sections and nailed the 3 inch nails on a roughly 45 degree angle from both sides of that top and bottom pallet wood rails and thus the fence hasn't warped because the nails can't pull out as easily as nailing them straight on - because the angled nails hold those two double rails to the pickets top and bottom - almost good as if you'd screwed them in place. But because the Red gum posts were so old and hard - needed to add an extra length of pallet wood to each side of the red gum posts - to nail the picket sections to and had to drill pilot holes for the nails through the extra 'add on' side lengths into the red gum posts - to stop my reused/recovered secondhand nails from incessantly bending. ;)
Nice, Thank you. Yes we are allowed to build like this because it is still a wooden frame, the house is licensed and registered. And now it is not visible that the house was built from pallets ;) because the inside is OSB, and the outside is boarded up. Please also see my other videos on this build there are more of them, and the barn is almost ready. Thank you! I wish you a happy new year and all the best to you!

@@normalguydoesitall i am doing one of these in my garden so its good to learn from others.what are the measurments for the roof peices ?ive got cement for free and the pallets for free and im up to 27 so far but havent built it yet.why are you putting planks inbetween them ?
@@bigs31uk Hey, Thanks. roof pieces are 2,5m X 1,25m. My construction was needed 32 pallets. Planks are needed to gain more strength to the building.
Awesome job! What was the size of the foundation? Do you have a video for that?
Many thanks!!!
Hey, sorry but no video forthe foundation. the size is 5.3m x 7.2m
Thank you!
That's awesome did you have too permit anything
Thank you! Yes we had a building permit for this building, and the building is on the building register. Please watch other videos as well, there are more of them and the barn is ready by now. Thanks again!
What’s the exact size of these pallets? They look to be the same as the pallets I can get from my job and I’m about to attempt building a shed
Pallet size is 1.2m X1.2m and they are 15 cm thick.
Nice build
Thank you!
Gracias muy ingenioso con poco dinero hacer un hogar .
Thank you!
Hey, the answer is also in the video description:
Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor, and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. the impregnated beams do not rot as soon as they are also covered so that water does not reach them and are also above the ground.
Thank you and all the best to you!
@@normalguydoesitall Thank you, I didn't think about looking the video description. Great project!
Those pallets look new, which is an advantage
Hey, almost new yes only used once. Thank you!
Nice build. Can you tell me how you joined the pallets? Have you used nails or screws, what size, how many per pallet?
Thank you. I used screws to connect pallets together. The amount of screws on one pallet could be about 15 pcs, and the length of the screws was about 120cm (about 5 inches)
First time found your channel
Sub like saved and looking forward to building a pallet barn for fun
Thank you for sharing the experience

Thank you!🙏😊
como anclas el primer pallet al piso y la misma consulta para el pilar de madera ...como lo haces??
Ok i will try to answer. in English and then google translation. Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor , and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. I hope this helped.
What is the m2 of this barn? And measurements of the wooden beams that go in between the pallets? Love the simplicity.
Hey, Pallets are 1.2m X 1.2m barn is 7.2m X 5.2m, so 37 m2 beams are 5cm X 15 cm (2inch X 6inch)
Thank you!
Very Good!!!
Thank you!
I could relate to that camera dropping on its face. I've done that several times after doing Harvey Wall Bangers
Thanks for leaving the camera blow over in the edit. LOL Perfect

Why landscape pavers for the floor?
Hey, Because they are very common in making a stable floor, and I already had those stones ;)
Thank you!
Looking good
Thank you!
Nice.
Thank you!
Agreed
Nice work. Any idea how much money and time was saved?
I can't say the victory of time, but the victory of money is big because I have received a lot of material for free, because they are someone's leftovers.
Love it i put a small one up for my wood
Thanks! nice to have someone else use the pallets for construction.
Excelente... Solo faltó mostrar los detalles de las uniones.
Thanks!
Excellent
Thank you!
Please see all parts of this build on my channel ;)
Hey again, have you watched other videos of this build? then you know that the pallets are strong, the outer walls are boarded up, the roof is on and the doors are in place. I will start interior work soon and I will also put plywood on the interior walls, so so that neither the wind nor any weather can enter. Thank you!
Besides an awesome build, the background music I want to learn. May I ask who that is?
Hey, thank you! Used music: Beasts. Maxx LL.
@@normalguydoesitall Thank You! Loved the video too.
@@theonesickman Thank you, see the other videos on my channel about his build as well. Thank you!
This is awesome! Do you have a list of all the materials you used? Also how big did the barn end up being once done?
Hey, barn is 5.2m X 7.2m, sorry but unfortunately, I don't have a list of materials.
Thank you!
Can you discribe the material used to build the horse house?
Hey, Pallets, beams, screws, and OSB boards, pallets are a size of 1.2mx1.2m
So how did you secure the pallets to the concrete 🤔
Hey, this information is a video description box, but in short, I anchored them. Thank you
Glad you put some upright through studs between some of the stacked pallets.
I would have
doubled your top plate to lap the corners and long laps for the intermediate butt joints to strengthen the ‘beam’ between uprights. you know like a regular stud wall.
Nice job!
Thank you!
Thank you so much showing your barn project *Genious; like to try for

Thank you ! for myself, I really like this music, Banana-Beer, interesting. All the best to you!
How many pallets did you need to Build that barn and will you please tell the exact amount
hey, exact amount pallets in this build is 32 pieces. pallet size is 1,2m x 1,2m. Thank you!
Hello! Good video!!!
How big are the pallets? how many pieces did you need?
Thank you!
Pallets are 1.2m X 1.2m i used 32 pallet in the outer walls and 7 pallets in the inner walls.
Thank again!
Would you need a permit to do this. Amazing idea.
Hey, yes In Estonia, all buildings must be registered, and such a small building also needs a building permit!
[ Yeah, takes time to straighten them out also - but what the Heck]
If you are retired then time is not a problem - but Health can be.;) I use recycled auto sump oil [ diesel is best ] to preserve the straightened and slightly rusty nails if I'm going to keep them for any length of time for future use - since I only possess a conventional claw hammer - or two to three actually. ;)
Needless to say I use the Sump oil for preserving the wood also and relatively recently made a front pallet wood Picket fence for my daughter in-law's place that is standing up to time much better than some of newer picket pine fences done by professionals in my neighbourhood area. ;)
Australian weather conditions are not kind to some pine picket fences. ;)
Incidentally, I decided to add a little non carpenters tip to any considering using Pallet wood as a Picket fence - I used the free Red gum fence posts [ once you cut off the rotted part that was in the ground] and would just place them 4 feet apart [ the length of a pallet roughly] and didn't need the conventional rails as I used Pallet wood rails top and bottom on Both sides of the Fence post sections and nailed the 3 inch nails on a roughly 45 degree angle from both sides of that top and bottom pallet wood rails and thus the fence hasn't warped because the nails can't pull out as easily as nailing them straight on - because the angled nails hold those two double rails to the pickets top and bottom - almost good as if you'd screwed them in place.
I am wondering what is going to happen when the first good wind storm hits it broadside or the roof gets loaded up with wet snow.

What type of materials are used for the floor
Really Cool. Thanks for sharing. Quick question How is the structure anchored to the foundation?
Thank you! Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete, and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. hope that was helpful.

It's so funny to see people guess at ridge height/roof pitch dimensions and just mark it with a pencil. It works, don't get me wrong, but it's so much easier to just work out some math with a napkin and a piece of charcoal. Great build though...the sturdiest I've ever seen with pallets.
