It’s cool being just a layman bystander to the mod/DIY gaming scene. Learning about the cool stuff that people are doing and seeing the finished thing is super neat!
Oh my, the paracord mod is something I've thought about for a while now, but this definitely inspires a more complete mod!! Thanks for showing us the process and the hiccups, Uncle Marisa, you're the best! Oh, and your controller came out beautiful
That's amazing!!! Your own GameCube Controller. It isn't easy, but our Uncle Marisa did it and enjoyed it!! Thanks for sharing with us. Greetings and now, win Super Smash Bros for all of your nephews!!!! :8)
Very cool. Great video. For for whatever reason your gb pocket color video inspired me to start up projects I’ve shelved for years after a big life change that derailed everything and sent me back to the Stone Age. Time heals, feels good to be happy again. Hang on there everyone, and spend time with good hearted people try new things have fun
I knew way more people with a PS2 and Xbox, and while I loved my GameCube when I finally got one, I played way more PS2 games at the time. No one I knew really cared about the GameCube. So it's wild to get old and see just how many people look back at the GameCube fondly.
I honestly can't tell why it wasn't popular other than the mini-discs being weird to make games for? I know I wanted a PS2 because of Kingdom Hearts, so I'm a terrible example there.
Looks like the new transparent shell needed self-tapping screws. iirc the OEM gamecube controller screws dont have the pointy tip required to dig into the plastic pegs
Awesome video! I've got a standard controller and a Wave Bird I'm thinking about customizing. I learned a lot watching this! Something that may help with paint chipping is using a plastic adhesion promoter before adding the primer. Duplicolor makes one that's used for painting car bumpers. It works great for stuff that gets handled a lot.
If you modded your wii to install the homebrew channel you probably have bootmii installed, in which case you can hold reset while starting the wii to start into bootmii. What's great about that is that you can control bootmii with a gamecube controller, start homebrew channel, and control many homebrews with a gcc! If you're playing gamecube controller compatible (or gamecube games) you never need to plug the IR sensor and prepare wiimotes again :) With some portable wii mods it's even possible to remap most wii game to gcc inputs (albeit some won't feel as good because they weren't designed that way)
Your description of the gamecube from someone who most likely used to ps2 was whimsical / imaginative :). Thank you for the heads up on the Swiss App. I myself too prefer disc. At least I will prefer disc until I get my hand on a FlippyDrive. I am still on the Xeno chip for now.
Haven't watched yet... Promise I will, but COOL controller! I recently completed my gamecube controller set: a black one like my console, a blue indigo, a silver one, and finally a gray wavebird that I de-yellowed and cleaned. 😎
Creeping up on that 10K and everyone’s fave uncle still hearts everyone 😁 The controller came out beautiful but calibrating without a guide would have drove me mad, haha. Awesome stuff as usual - but I’ve been wondering, is there a cool story to the little tiger (cross stitch?) because I feel like at this point it’s your cohost 😅
Thank you! It's an ornamental rug from an Internet friend. She retired from rug making but I had to buy this from her last batch because it's my colors! I have some froggy rugs hanging in our room from her too 🥰
I was so close to getting a spice orange GC on ebay the other night. You should definitely try the HDMI mod if you don't have one (the picoboot and laserbear ports too while you're in there). The QSB makes it super easy! Edit: Oh man I gotta get some of those replacement sticks you showed.
I’ve had a few cheap Chinese Xbox 360 controller clear shells, you need to gently tap or slightly drill out the screw posts to fit OEM screws with those, I assume GameCube is similar.
Lmao the wii set up process 🤣. Thanks for your suffering! Great vid! Im now going to try to make one for my lady, after learning how to soldering "competently"!
I just did a paracord mod and I ended up just giving up on the copper wire and taking it off, it really is way easier to sleeve it without it. Hopefully it won’t lead to any issues.
@@yourcoolunclemarisa I'm sure Zapdos has to be electric flying now right? I havent been able to get into any pokemon game since the GBA so I don't know stuff.
A modded wii that goes straight into the homebrew channel when you boot up, is way easier to do this on. That's how my wii is setup and I just only use gamecube controllers with mine. BUT that's my personal preferences :)
What's a good paint to use for a controller if anyone has any suggestions haha I'm just playing it's in the video but one time I spray painted an original Xbox and it just feels so weird to touch it haha

Babe wake up, new uncle Marisa vid dropped
Geez, Uncle Marisa, that controller looks so cool! I want one now.
Gonna have to make one >: )
@@yourcoolunclemarisa 😫 these clumsy fingers will only make a mess 😂

Thanks for walking us through your latest custom project! It was great to see your process :)
Thank you for watching!
31:23 final result. And it looks amazing, great job!
Thank you!
I hadn't heard of Elecrow before, and its AWESOME! Thanks for the great video, and the tip on where to find some good stuff for future projects!
Thank you for watching!

I like that you're testing stuff and letting us know what is better in your own tests. It's almost like a briefing lol.
Thank you! I like that phrasing since my videos aren't exactly tutorials but not entirely just show-offs either :')

You are correct! I wish for that reason they either sent screws or offered you an option to add-on screws :S

your videos are so unique and by far my favorite in the genre. Your presence is so calming :P

Thank you for sharing this. Gamecube stuff is what I love the most.

Day saved. Uncle posted
this was a great project and the result is really good! always happy to see new vid from you!
the Wii deserves more respect.
Such a cute controller, i wish i was able to experience gamecube when i was younger. Great and intriguing vid to watch as usual 🎉
Honestly, that's exactly the sentiment that got me into the hobby - wasn't able to experience much of it as a kid :')
As a massive disliker of the Gamecube controller, but a massive fan of cool uncles, this brings me joy.
Also, that top is too cod bam stylish 😍
Thank you!!!
Perfect just got home to another video from my favorite Uncle!🤩
Just got a GameCube with Gameboy player. I have been having a lot of fun with it so far.
The perfect combo ~
BRB, buying one of those transparent shells and some Rit dye.
I just recently customized my own gamecube controller. I love a good clicky Z button and cellphone rumble.

Doesn't play melee, makes baller controller...Interesting
I heard you mention paracord is difficult to cut. I recommend trama shears. Cheers

oh wow this one was some real work nice soldering!
3rd party shells and controllers often use smaller than OG screws. It's definitely something to watch out for.
Such a great video! could you share the information on the tools you use? flux, solder, and what not.
Nothing crazy. Leaded rosin core solder and no clean flux paste from chipquik
@@yourcoolunclemarisa Thank you so much for this!

I imagine it shouldn't, but that's definitely why I'll go with the liquid cable mod next time, fewer copper wires in the bin 🥲
@@yourcoolunclemarisa yeah, the liquid cable mod looks pretty cool. If anything goes wrong with mine that’s definitely something I’ll look into.
Great guide! Im still shocked I cant find that electric green shell. Hopefully someday I can have the GC controller of my dreams.

Orange Dreamsicle, nice.
I really love the paracord color you chose. Where did you get it from?
Paracord Planet!
@ i scoured and couldn’t find anything like it! Which color??
Intro story genuinely made me laugh out loud.
The colours look absolutely lovely, but gosh, the process looks and sounds like such a pain >w>';
The callibration on the console seems troublesome, os there a USB version (or conversion) for this board?
I don't believe there is an official mod.
How is "Elecrow" not an electric type corvid Pokemon?
I was about to say "electric-flying type? How novel!" But apparently I am super out of the loop with new pokemon ;_;

Thank u, I can retire happy now 🌈
Oddly, I wish it were cake.
I get that. My gf said it looked like a Fisher Price toy which I also took as a compliment~
Yeah that is one edible looking controller. 👌🏽
You are so freaking cool!
You are cooler for being here!
That color scheme reminds of very specific things, but I can't recall what
So far we've got fisher price toy and cake, if that helps.
Can I ask where you got the “Nintendo GameCube” script for your aftermarket shell?
I printed it myself on waterslide paper :)
