This was such a great video and gave so much detail on how everything works, really glad you like it and stuck with us through the updates! Side note, most of the revisions you suggested did make their way in, very few people were as vocal with actual, helpful, suggestions so it made a huge difference! On your little speaker, sadly if you get transparent builds they are sprayed with a clear varnish which makes everything a little bit tighter! On the aluminium my speaker held itself in the space with just pressure but I wanted a louder one so exactly as you said, used the switch speaker behind the screen 😁 Tactile switches - I so wanted to make this work with GBC buttons because there are SOOOO many more available, but I haven’t gotten there yet, maybe in an alternative version in the future when I’m done with my current list - or maybe even DS buttons… 🤔
Thank you, Joseph!! That makes sense about the resin varnish - I think I was a wee bit relieved to not cover up Psyduck further too haha. GBC buttons would be so cool and chunky 🍏 I hope that one day rolls around hehe ALSO I have no clue where the start/select replacement came to be if not you, then loll. I'm out here making people pay an extra $2 for more membranes 😂

Its wild to me that people criticize small *free* community run projects like this. I'm cursed with big hands and know that the Gacha SP isn't for me, but projects like this advance community growth and innovation in exciting new ways. How can you not support and encourage it?? Excited for more videos covering mods outside of my wheelhouse!
Thank you Joseph, Marisa, and everyone else who has contributed to this project! I am super excited to make one of these once I figure out what I want from PCBWay :)
honestly i gotta commend your audio quality, most videos about DIY stuff have distracting sounds that make paying attention to the building process harder :P
Honestly, I don't know how make these project, but when I saw your video, I felt a lot of peace and calm. Thanks dear uncle. Greetings and my heart was broken when you didn't show Pokemon Emerald, but it's ok. :8)
I don't remember you referencing those emulation handhelds before... I'm quite interested in one, but it's not high-priority at the moment, and even when I get one, I'm still keeping my proper handhelds~ Good to know about the battery issue on the 35XXSP though...
I have a video on the Miyoo Mini Plus...kinda 🙈 I'd recommend retro game corps' and taki udon's videos if you want to narrow down options. But also use your head - rgc does teardowns and he kinda glossed over the battery sitting on the CPU, but to me that is a huge red flag and liability in a product. Turns out I was right to think so 💀
I dig it. It's not for me, mostly because of the size, but I like how people are getting away from trying emulate the original case to add some choice to the mods. The one thing I would like to see more of is things like the FPGBC only so we don't have to scrap more old units and take them out of circulation.
I'd love to see more of that too, especially spanning GBA carts at least. I don't think mods cause units to go to 'scrap'. Most are non-destructive to the PCBs and you can always put it back OEM style if you're so inclined. FPGBC / Analogue Pocket style devices are moreso helpful for combating rising prices - especially if the competition on those consoles increases enough to drive their prices down. I'm excited for @TakiUdon 's competitor too.
@yourcoolunclemarisa likewise. The more FPGA, the better. It's nice that hardware options are nearing the number of emulation options. Us nerds are doing well these days.
I’ve been waiting for a premium modernized/upgraded clamshell product for ages! 35xxsp looked awesome at first but yeah the clicky LR buttons were what turned me off to it for suuure. Good to know about the exploding battery situation though, that kinda reinforces my decision to wait for a improved model 😂 thanks 😊
@yourcoolunclemarisa truuuuu Or... or.., hear me out. Assuming it works, use the bottom of a metal boxy pixel shell and pair it with the cnc gacha front. Ofcourse I *gotta* source another SP and what not at this point. 👀😅

Oh like I said at the end, this is absolutely not a replacement for an SP! It's an addition :) Also good luck with your wii portable project - those are soo cool!!
Love the videos. I don't know if you do, but I would not recommend wearing your contacts while soldering. Exposure to fumes can be problematic over time.
Thank you! I only wear my contacts when I'm on camera at home; the cat hair irritates them enough, would absolutely hate to get solder fumes under them to boot 🥲
Hey! It can be resin but I recommend aluminum. You can see why and find links on my latest Gacha video. If you don't mind waiting, I'll make a tutorial video on ordering from fabricators as a couple of others requested this as well.
Not sure what I did or didn't do but I ordered the pcb without changing anything and the button soldering points are so close together that I'm gonna need mini button for this build😢 was I supposed to change something???

Is it not possible to harvest the switches from the sp? (Sorry if this is a total n00b question) The switches are the only thing holding me back

I just don’t know if I can let go of the form factor of my SP. But I would like to in the future if I get another damaged SP

It seems contain every possible mod.
I'm hesitant because I haven't seen any reviews.
Unfortunately I don't know much about the game gear (yet?) but I have had good experiences with Console5 as a site.
