hey guys, Singaporean here. Please, as far as possible, eat hawker food! The food culture in Southeast Asia is amazing and Singapore is no exception. Try national foods for really low prices while supporting our lovely uncles and aunties. I had friends here on exchange eat at restaurants that they complained were pricey and didn’t really try hawker food, which i think is a total shame. Almost everybody speaks English, if the person serving you is an old person who doesn’t really speak english, just ask a local to help - they’d be pretty happy to.
Some points to note - public transport is charged by total distance for the trip regardless of bus company or MRT, for up to about 5 changes if you use the travel card (Ezlink etc). Chewing gum is not illegal. Sale of chewing gum is. So you can bring it in for your own consumption, just dispose of it responsibly. Tipping is not discouraged, just not practiced. Clarke Quay is one of the main night entertainment areas (pre Covid). Orchard is where the shopping is albeit, personally speaking, more upper end. Remember to take note of any GST refunds you can get as tourist on some of our purchases. These can be done at the shops (selected) or at the airport just before departure. The bird park is scheduled to be moved in 2022 to Mandai (next to the Zoo), creating a centralised wildlife and nature district. Hope to see you all soon here once this madness is over
This is by FAR the best informational/guide video i’ve seen. You covered literally everything a first-time visitor needs to know. Also loved the graphics and editing. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼
I love Singapore having been there 3 times. I've always been in February but you will see a bit of rain but it is generally sunny in this particular month. It is quite expensive though compared to Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia
yes, just want to agree with everybody about how good this video is. Going to Singapore for three days this month. I used to live there when I was a kid. About 50 years ago LOL. I know it’s changed but so looking forward to checking it out. thanks for the video. Well done!
The Merlion statute situated in the Merlion park, with the body of a fish and head of a lion is the symbol of Singapore, ensconced on the banks of the Singapore river, near the historic Fullerton Hotel giving a spectacular view,
Sir Stamford Raffles wasn't the founder of Singapore. He was the father of British colonisers in Singapore (not saying it's good or bad, but just stating a fact). He came, struck a deal with the representative of the Sultan of the declining Malay Johor-Riau empire (with the backing of armed British ships), and made Singapore a British trading post that caused an influx of immigrants that built modern Singapore, such as Chinese and Indian merchants, traders and coolies into Singapore (amongst others).
Bro, I am from India,,, can you please make such plans which are convenient for Indian,, some of travel companies are just looting who are not aware of this magnificent city
Hi, thank you for the video and do we still require to do a PCR test 48 hours before our flight to Singapore? Please kindly let me know and thank you 😊
From April 26 onwards, passengers will not have to do a pre departure test. However, they have require at least 2 covid shots and must submit the health declaration form before flight.
Buttttt, I'm here in Singapore right now and the CV19 requirement is lifted this Sunday to get out and not required to get in for the USA. However, they heavily enforce masks indoors and DO NOT violate their laws. There's a reason there is little to no crime here.
the quoted price for food and hotels were far outdated. Currently prices has gone up, at least 30% - 100%, especially apartment accomodation cost amd eating at cheap + middle class eatery spots
Not sure where you're eating but we (two people) have eaten in many restaurants for around 40 SGD in Little India, Chinatown, Marina Bay Sands, and more. In fact I'm eating at a small restaurant next to Suntec City with my wife for 38.50 SGD. I really don't recommend the Hawker places except for tasting the "Satay". The rest of the food, including the famous Chinese rice was inedible. Sorry but cold boiled chicken with sticky dried out rice is not my idea of good food.
Pre-Covid, yes there are direct flights from certain Indonesian cities to Singapore. You can check with your travel agent, airline or online for more details

that's because Singapore is a higher income country compared to the ones you mention. So cost of living there is higher.
