Ian Kirkpatrick is one of the best producers out there. Yes, because he's talented, but also because he's so forward with his information. Thank you, Sol State and Ian.
This was unbelievable. A huuuuuuuge amount of deep knowledge from not only a successful producer, but someone having SO MUCH FUN! So infectious and so creative! Thank you Sol State and thank you Ian Kirkpatrick!
I love Ian's streams but I also love the way you manage to "condense" it. There are really no excuses to inhale this insane knowledge and tips now - Thank you so much!
One of the best thing about Ian Kirkpatrick is that he's not only the king of songwriting/producing, but also the king of sharing. And this is shocking great! thanks!!!!!
man when @ian kirkpatrick talks about how the subconscious will notice, that is such a gem. I went back and worked on a bunch of my tracks and added things that seem almost inaudible (which I stopped doing a long time ago since I thought it didn't make a difference) and wow it makes SUCH a difference. The feeling of progression vs a song feel a bit stale , truly grateful for this video, the editing and Ian's knowledge
The first time I heard this song on headphones my mind was blown. So much detail. It's cool to see what went down behind the scenes after being a fan of this song for a while now!
what is great about these videos is how it doesn't feel like a chore watching. It does not feel like a tutorial video (which feels exhausting to find the right one and watch), but I am learning a lot more than from tutorials. Just a simple straight forward and streamlined analysis of an existing project with insight on the creative flow. experientially rich.
I used to listen to this on speaker in my living room, and one day waiting in the car for my girlfriend getting groceries, I listened to the entire album and noticed all the frigging details. It's an incredible journey
I had to stop the video to say: Found this song in the middle of the lockdown in mexico searching music for DJ sets we had to do for the restaurante i was working for (It was closed, big corporation, 35 units total), and said, ok, i'm an electronic and metal head and i love this pop song, it's amazingly produced. Showed this to all my friends and all agreed, some puristic musicians, that is a great great great production. Glad to find there's an instrumental version so i can play guitar on top of it. And more amazed that i can see how you made this sound like this. Thank's 4 the sharing, lot's of love man!
@@levondarratt787 "plat" is Platinum, like hits that are created by Ian Kirkpatrick that are certified Platinum and Gold all around the world. And I wouldn't consider him a newb since he's been working at this since 2005 and was good enough to write, produce, and mix for Disney and their label since 2008 and since then has worked with almost every major label and several a-list artists. This is all from one quick Google search so if you gonna insult somebody, it's better if it's actually true.
I always loved in this song the tempo change cause it sounds like the hook is gonna be that tempo but then you’re right back to the OG tempo, it’s sick.
The tempo edit is such a small thing but does biig things. Creates such a subtle but yet, in the context, a LOT of suspense before the energy is again released in the chorus. So great!
3:50 Good point about the bouncing down and committing. Obviously it needs to be decent, but yeah. You get this kind of rough feel that you can then treat like a sample you got somewhere else, if you know what I mean. Good thing to do, but takes confidence.
That is truly amazing, pretty please is one of my favorite songs from dua lipa and I would've never thought that a video like this would come out. Ian's working with big stars like dua lipa and he still seems to be very down to earth, working with him must be really enjoyable and fun! :D
you're the literal goat for making this channel exist, i have terrible internet and struggle bad trying to watch streams, i almost never can, but this lets me get the info in an amazingly practical way, thank you so much!
I love that Ian realises the power of OTT ,and what it actually does! First expansion, then compression over the top! Also, LFO tool is getting forgotten these days, while it actually has everything you need! Time control, volume, filters
it's really cool how the different layers take a simple phrase/idea and makes it sound really interesting! I'm falling more and more in love with layering every day haha
The moment I heard this song for the first time I absolutely fell in love with how it was arranged produced. I LOVED the idea of slowing down before the chorus.absolutely brilliant. Thanks for this video. That was soooo fricking interesting
Awesome Track Man!!! I fell in Love with this Song emediatly! I noticed the great Production right away! So satisfying when I hear a Track so creative and well done! Its perfect!
Dude, sick tempo modulation. fuck yeah. SICK LAYERING. LOVE THIS. tryina teach my baby to not be affraid of this layering. Overproduction LEGIT. but sometimes you GOTTA LAYER IT UP. thank you! haha
Great. It's also about the things you don't play. Leave room for groove and vibe. And it's about not hard quantizing every note. Let fight the different timings with each other. That gives the special tension and goove.
Thanks so much for doing this. I've watched this so many times because it's so helpful. I already liked the video, and I don't think that sufficiently shows my appreciation, so I figured I'd show some love in the comments 😊
3:28 No shit! 10ish years ago at festivals, I would find myself in fucking awe w/ Noisas production. It sounded 100x better / louder than the other DJs that played the same stage. I was never a fan of that genre of music but they were clearly doing something significantly better than the competition.

5400 likes versus 24 dislikes is a huge ratio.... this is a great song. Dua's whole album "Future Nostalgia" is just perfect, not a weak song...
