The noise pulse, the Flume synth, the Timbaland chops! Who else feels inspired after watching this?! 🎥Need more Ian in your life? th-cam.com/channels/Cgvl_leixwjgtG83h05iaw.html 🤣 Ian's hilarious but helpful explanation of compression - th-cam.com/video/oPSBLf-HpTI/w-d-xo.html Much love ;)
It's something I've picked out in so many songs but wasn't 100% sure of myself if that's what was really happening, this was honestly such an amazing song breakdown, so sauced up.
Love his energy. One of today's top producers for sure. No question about it. The amount of detail and love he puts into every single choice is admirable.
Ian - you are an absolute boss of a producer. And props to Sol State, which is for sure one of the best channels out there for seeing actual producers doing their thing!
I would like to thank you that you cut his rumbling to a 12 min video. This man is a genius but he is so chaotic that he is probably wearing his underwear backwards.
This is what it’s all about for me. When you have that much fun doing the production (while reinforcing the core of the song), it’s gonna sound inspired and dope! 100% ott why not if it works, fck the ”rules”.
I don't know if anyone else on here has heard about Stacy Clark, but I just wanted to say I loved Ian's work on her debut album back in 2007. Finding out he has since collaborated with such big hitters blew my mind. His work on Dua, Britney, and now Charli's recent stuff is pristine. It's really cool to see him share a little about his process. You can tell he put in a ton of work by the way he goes over these layers and layers of production.
Thanks Ian and Sol State for yet another fun, informative and inspiring video! You both are doing alot for the producer community and I appreciate it alot. 💯
I'm going to be honest here. I have never heard this track before or know anything at all about Ian. I thought for the first 1/3rd of this video that he was breaking down someone else's track. 😆 Thank you Sol State for broadening my musical production knowledge and music exposure generally. 😀👍❤
Charli’s music has healed so many of us and to hear @iankirkpatrick talk about how much fun and how delicate he has been with her lyrics and ideas is phenomenal. Someday I hope to produce music as well as him.
Nothing better than watching the stream and than getting a sol state video of it to watch the highlights again ❤️🦦 I am just sooo happy this symbiosis exists!
Ian, you are one crazy dude but I love it. Always enjoy watching your breakdowns and when you often thread of the path for a while with fun side stories. Also that you give credits where credits are due. Don't change!
Sol state, thanks so much for these edits. We appreciate you! I have a video idea that I feel only you are equipped to pull off. All the essentials of a pop production from drums to bass, dives and throws to ear candy. You could use plenty of Ian’s work as examples. It could even be a series, starting with drums and working your way ‘up’. A really deep dive into how to build a professorpop production Thanks again for your work
@@charlibratfammanfanstan I mean to me, it was really the only song that went close to any of the expirementation charli's known for, plus it stayed closer to the more eclectic side of hyperpop, rather then the trap dominated maximalist brostep sound that has been pushed down our throats in the 2020s.
Awesome vid. Was wondering when an artist comes to perform live with a band, how much of the track/steams would they use? and would the subtle parts be lost in a large arena environment? Thanks.
Especially loved the sample tip. If it sounds good it sounds good! Like literally nobody else will know its a sample except other producers which in the end they arent the market were even shooting for.
Hey bro!!! Been a long minute.. Glad to see you still on the grind.. 100k followers!!! Love to see it, keep doing it for hte comunity broski.. Rooting for you!!

hiding synths in vocal is a dope sauce
Si mamang kesbor mainnya kesini juga ternyata

she tends to have production sounds mimic her vocal textures and yes! its amazing !
i love you mardial
This is literally a 3 day Masterclass compressed into 12 minutes...
Love his energy. One of today's top producers for sure. No question about it. The amount of detail and love he puts into every single choice is admirable.
Reminds me a lot of Disclosure with all his attention to detail. Pattern?
This track is the only flop on that record.
Wannabe producers like it, not actual people.
DUDE. He showcased so many gems and little techniques but you edited and presented it so well. Thank you thank you thank you!
"Don't worry - Sol State's gonna edit this"
so much sauce, condensed into a highly consumable 12 min, with time markers - ugh, thank you SO MUCH SOL STATE AND IAN
Thanks bud, hope you're music is coming along well
this felt like 3 minutes

Thanks for the good vibes ;)
Amazing edit once again!
Thanks again Roomie!
Charli is such a queen. Thanks so much for your work on this track it was definitely a stand out on the record and such a blast to hear live!
One of my all-time favorite Charli tracks, honestly top 3 of her discography. Loved watching this breakdown!
This is what music is suppose to convey.. Emotions .. Thankyou Ian
I would like to thank you that you cut his rumbling to a 12 min video. This man is a genius but he is so chaotic that he is probably wearing his underwear backwards.
He just had to cut a notch at 450Hz and the rumbling was gone!
Hahah. At the same time, the chaos/humor is one of the best parts about Ian.
@@SolStateMusic On the contrary. When you tune into a livestream most people look for a clear and concise way of teaching not a spaced out ramble.
@@georgew.douche26yearsago65 I hope Ian never changes, his streams are just as entertaining as they are educational
@@adamjones7701 That's because I'm not twelve and not interested in trap beats.
P.S: Fuck you for deleting my comment.
Such a great job editing this. Thank you, Sol State, for your hard work!
splice loops aren't the problem, using them uncreatively is the problem

Same same! All hail SOL STATE!!
Damn this is sick. Had no idea he did a track on there. Loved the whole album. didn’t hear a lot of this stuff on casual listens.
Man these tips are absolutely golden, and I love his way of explaining and the editing. THANK YOU
One of my faves from the album

Just obsessed with every edit you make bout Ian's streams!
OMG I LOVE YOU! ❤️
Thanks! Ian's humor helps a lot :)
One of my favorite songs!
So, if ian is producing for chainsmokers, what are chain smokers doing?? /s
chain smoking ;)
he is actually just CO-produced songs on their latest albums, Drew by himself produced their biggest hits
@@ClydeFellonMusic Yup! Ian does different amounts of production for different artists.
Ya know...
awesome video, great explanation, love the editing too. thanks
Much appreciated!
Lmaoo bro so true about pride and using loops. Sometimes loops go perfect with what you trynna do and sometimes you gotta tweak them a lil
This was incredible to watch, so many useful tips and he seems like such a fun passionate and loving guy. Awesome video
Ah man such a good point about having some messed up idea of pride getting in the way, dam ego can be a sneaky one! 💜
Ian is like some kind of mad scientist, in the best possible way!
Perfect description!
omfg i just realized YOU are on the credits of the song presence of GREATNESS, i am in , yas gawddd 😵💚💚💚💚
I'm very happy that sol state edited this
I'm workin on a 70 bpm track rn. Love the idea of adding 'tempo' via non-drum sounds
The beat driving feel is too good!
this is the coolest beat ive ever heard

Damn, loved the idea of doubling vocals with synth stabs. Never thought about that.
Very informative! I'll definitely be trying a few tips he mentioned. The OTT on atmospherics tip is a great one
Thanks. Try OTT on wet synth after reverb too
@@SolStateMusic will definitely try this, thank you

This was seriously mind blowing 💖🔥
How can i make cubase look like ian kickpatrick's grey theme?
How do you know when it’s overproducing/spending to much time on minimal details, rather than being simple?
Lot of good stuff to try!

Just two clicks and it s perfect 🔥
