  • Multi-platinum producer ‪@iankirkpatrick‬ took Reason's new Player Chord Sequencer for its first spin to see what ideas it might inspire. In just a few minutes, he had a new idea going. Watch as Ian let's us in on his creative process to see how he develops from chords into a song-idea ready for an artist collaboration.
    ----- HOW TO GET CHORD SEQUENCER -----
    Chord Sequencer can be used in the Reason DAW or in any other DAW using the Reason Rack Plugin (VST3/AU/AAX).
    Chord Sequencer is included as part of a Reason+ subscription which you can sign up for at www.reasonstud.... You can get your first month for just $1.
    If you already own Reason and would like to buy a Chord Sequencer license, you can do that too ($69 USD) at www.reasonstud....

    Such a great demo of the painless fun of Reason! I wish he had shown some more of hitting the dark chords for a change of direction. If you've ever struggled with writing a bridge for your song, the dark chords are fantastic inspiration for that.

      What are dark chords? sus chords?

    • @Kaitain
      @Kaitain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@josh27ofto The chords the player colours as dark/black are ones that are not a common next chord from the chord that you're currently on. They are still perfectly "correct", but they do mostly sound like a change in direction for the sequence.

    Love the video and I relate so much to @Ian Kirkpatrick, in that I am more rhythmically inclined being a drummer first. That is also why I love the Chord Sequencer so much. It has changed the way I write in so many ways. I'm also a long, long, long time Reason and Propellerheads fan. I remember using ReBirth back in the day and even used it in live gigs in the late 90's. Keep'em coming Reason Studios!

    Like him, I’m a drummer with a modicum of music theory and keyboard basics. I do just what he’s done here - come up with a nice vibe that’s just a loop. Chord Sequencer is really helpful for creating a lot more interesting 8-bar patterns that I’ll still be unlikely to turn into anything. I always just noodle until I lose interest it seems.

    This man is a good reason user- not better than me but just different- we been doing reason for 20 years and it’s great to get to see someone else geeking out! Nerds are what makes reason so wonderful- anything I can do better Someone figures out so much way cooler things to do inside reason.
    I must say I love the tiny twerks he does to all those beautiful little knobs that take the song from a negative 39 on good scale and make it 150% HiT!
    On malstrum- worst stupidest lamest tin can sound you can ever hear- shrill device- I thought that for my first ten years and then Thor too- but I swear to you- malstrum is 3000 times GReATER than you can even imagine in sound quality and those little knobs are what takes you to heaven with that device and the presets are just a really crappy way it will sound- it can really help inspire you to go somewhere different and supreme- but it’s supposed to sound like a tin pan crap as just an influence and open world of things to come sonically- trust me- malstrum is powerful. Thor is probably good too- but malstrum- changes my music for the better-
    This dude just rocked it though. Im a chord genius and the chord player is definitely the best and only way to out do a jazz musician- but some of us like the lady ping pong player and me we know those inversions and chords and number charts with accidentals and all that jazz- lol- the chord player is simply not as cool as having the brain knowledge and coordination to get the job done manually - so it is good they had a drummer do this demo- lol- he got favorably good results with his production! In real time which is what impressed me!
