There isn't much more that can bring such a smile to a man's face than having an axe at the ready! I like the idea of using the wood that broke the handle to replace the handle.
Shirley’s handle being made from the wood that broke it is so poetic! 😅 please show us how you do some of the wood wizardry we’d love to learn from your expertise, so interesting!
Hello ☺. I love this oh so gentle vlog. You two are lovely. Lost my beloved husband after a short illness back in December. I'm very up and down at the moment but I'm just taking some pleasure from your adventures. Wish they were a bit longer ☺. My husband was a wood worker, give him a piece of wood and he could make anything. Have you tried a maul for chopping your wood? Take care of each other. Sending love, light and Full Snow Moon Blessings this weekend xx
Hello ♥️ thank you for this beautiful message and for sharing with us. We are both so sorry to hear about your husband. Sending so much love to you and wishing you strength and comfort. Stuart has tried a neighbour's maul and it was good, though large! Take care x x
Great job on carving the axe handle. As for porridge, try apple sultana and half tsp cinnamon with a pinch of mixed spice, put in pot with your favourite milk and cook slowly, it taste like apple strudel 😊💚
Boop. Enjoyed your vlog today. Thanks for sharing. Good job with the axe, looks as though it will work with a bit of practice!!! Take care and stay safe.

I'm still rubbish at splitting wood, but I enjoy it! Yeah, it feels fitting to use the same wood for the handle! Thank you for watching. ♥️
The porridge looked like sunshine in a bowl 💛
That's very kind of you! 🥰
Boop and a big welcome to Shirley. I now have the Billy Bragg song stuck in my head and will be humming this all day.

Oooh thank you! 😊 That sounds good!
Beautiful looking axe 🪓 handle, Stu! Be careful not to get any splinters in your fingers…😮
Thank you! It has been thoroughly sanded and finished so hopefully no splinters! 🤞
Okay, I will be watching more of your videos
Thank you! ☺️
Always leave your axe in a bucket of water the wood will swell making it really secure
Thank you! Stuart says he considered this but was worried about future shrinkage and moisture content.

Thank you! 😊♥️ Yes! The axe works much better without holding a phone in one hand trying to film! X
Great video again love the axle see you soon 😊
Thank you! 😊 X x
I can relate to your cooking skills! Gave up a long time ago. Enjoyed the video
Haha 😂 I win some, I lose some! I'm still trying with the cooking ☺️ happy you enjoyed the video x
Did you call the axe Shirley because it's got a knot in it? 😁
Ha! No, I wish that was the reason. I mostly called it that because it seemed like a good creepy name for an axe.
@@bobbing_along It is! 😁
I’m new to your vlogs what do you need a new axe? Let me know I will be glad to help
Thanks for the offer, we're all good though! The hand made handle is working well!
What was the waltz that you played for the banana porridge section, please?
Hello! It's 'magical dirt' by sir cubworth
Super! Thank you. 😊
Shirley you jest?
Shirley not!
