Highly enjoyable. I find myself looking forward more and more to each new episode. Pretty much how I approach my boat renovations and modifications. All the best from South Australia.
I would have liked to see the inside plywood coated with epoxy before applying the outer skin. If you don't think water will get in 'it will', that's what in Oz we call Murphy's Law.
These will be well encapsulated with fiberglass. If water gets into the middle I have much bigger problems. Do understand your thinking though, you aren't wrong.
You make what is a daunting task to me seem simple in your straight forward approach and solutions. I can see where those coaming are going to be strong and lasting. I never would have thought of the approach you took to accomplishing them. Fascinating!
I’m totally addicted! I want more! Thank you for a deeply personal, informative and fun video. I’ve always wanted to do what you are doing. I retire soon, maybe a can on a smaller scale. Thank you so much! It’s wonderful and inspiring.
This is looking so amazing, I can't wait to see it all completed. The music is getting better, if that is possible, fiddles and steel guitars! I would love to see your music catalog.
Some of us will recognize the masking tape as band-aid hack. Be careful so you don't have to go to the halloween store to get a new finger to glass on. Besides that I"m curious why you used a hollow core type design for the combings instead of say three layers of plywood. Seems like just extra work.
Always careful. Only had it taped for a day when the blood blisters popped. All healed now. I did that to save some ply and epoxy, and I dont think it was much extra work. I was able to use up a lot of scrap ply to make those strips. The budget is tight, so I have to find areas to work with that.
Im enjoying your content more with each episode(tho I've fallen a bit behind). Keep em coming and thank you so much for taking the time and effort to share your journey with us!
Yes. One small step at a time and the dream will become reality. Absolutely love what you are doing here Rhode Soda. It was a dream of mine to do myself what you are doing but for very serious reasons, will never have the chance... Looking forward for the next episode. @@rohdesoda1152
Over 7k subscribers!!! You're a pretty good craftsman.. are you going to make the well or floor of the cockpit larger?? Also I'm curious to see how you blend the back with the sides.. your ol boat is really coming along nicely and I think you're going to be happier with your purchase than spending 37k on a new empty hull.. you put some money and alot of work into this sailboat and you can enjoy it and perhaps sell it to someone else who doesn't have the craftsman skills that you do and you can find you either another fixer upper or buy yourself that brand new hull.. I'm just getting into sailing, was brought up around some ridiculously fast powerboats. I'm interested in some of these quality built ferrocement sailboats.. hopefully in a year or so I will be able to find me a decent used sailboat.. I'm really into the old style classic ship or wood interior.. much like the Formosa sailboats
Thank you! The cockpit well will get a little larger in every direction. At the moment, I plan on leaving the aft end open. I can always add something later, but I think I prefer leaving as much deck space clean as I can. Glad youre enjoying the videos!
I'm not sure from where the boat was steered before. Was he just standing on the deck holding on to the tiller? There doesn't appear to have been a c/p leg well. Since the c/p coaming is only supported at one end, is it really sturdy enough to be supporting someone pushing against it while heeled over. (Maybe a junk rig won't heel?)
Lovingly done as previously 🥰 It’s a joy to watch, I noticed the up arrow is that because you flipped the entrance ? It’s a good tip, I’ll adopt that . Love and hugs as always from Denmark 🇩🇰 Ps I’m patron no 15
Thank you Kimberly! The arrow was just so I knew which way to glue it, if we're thinking of the same arrow 😆. Thank you so much! I see your sign-up on Patreon, but it shows that it hasn't gone through, or isn't completed? Either way, much, much appreciated!
Thank you. All I know is that it’s a Horstman. The owner built it and doesn’t plan on getting rid of it. Lots of projects like that out there though, scour the internet!

@rohdesoda1152 That tune sounds very similar to traditional Irish music too, possibly a fiddle and from ancestral emigration. Keep up the great videos Rohde, I just gave you a shout out in my latest episode too referring to you as the epoxy master 😁
I really love those tunes. Thank you so much man, that’s very kind of you. I wouldn’t consider myself an expert, but I checked out that video… one note… Always sand cured epoxy before painting or applying more epoxy. As epoxy cures a waxy substance rises to the surface, amine blush. You want to sand or thoroughly wash that off to get a good bond going forward. I may have missed something in your video, but I think you may have been dealing with some of that when you had the chalkiness from the humidity. You have a ton of videos! Unfortunately I dont have the time to really get caught up on your project but really enjoyed that video. Looks like a cool boat. Subscribed and will keep an eye out! Also what a beautiful spot to work! Cheers
Really satisfying to watch. Your skills and fast pace has quickly made this one of my favourite channels!
Love to hear it! Thank you, and thanks for watching!

Brilliant work Mike. She’s coming along very nicely. Can’t wait for the next video.
Thank you! Me neither, haha

Thank you. I have a tendency to over complicate things and we can’t afford that here, so I’m doing my best. Glad you’re enjoying!
I've been a craftsman for longer than you've been alive but I keep learning cool stuff from you.
Thats high praise, thank you!
sick episode as always, can't afford to financially support you but very glad for you that people can. Keep up the good work Mike !
No worries at all. I appreciate all the support, there's more to it than money. Glad youre enjoying. Likes and comments go a long way!
Now that’s a nice cockpit, pretty spacious, your design and execution was impressive!
Thank you! Happy with how its coming along

Doing what I can with what ive got! Thanks for watching!

In due time! Thank you, winging the music as I go, it can be tough with copywriting, etc

Glad to hear, thank you! and will do!
Had doubts at first, but I enjoy watching your skills, keep up the good work.
I dont think youre alone in that. Much appreciated!
Great vid! love that things are moving along and we finally get to see some major changes to the boat. See you nxt episode.
Thank you! It definitely feels good!
I love the way you clip your microphone to random objects 😂 …
Im... opportunistic
Small steps forward get you to the finish line, brother.
Steady progress towards worthy goals 🙌🏼
I look forward to the episodes and your creativity.

She looks great thank you for sharing your project with us John and marie the Staples family
My pleasure, thank you!
@12:20 reminded me of the Old Yankee Workshop on PBS.
Haha, love to hear it!
Another good one, Mike! Enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you! Glad to hear
nice work Mike, things are coming along just great by the looks of things. cheers, from the great white north up in Ontario Canada.
Awesome as usual,a joy to watch.
Thank you, glad youre enjoying!
Loving the project and presentation, but….. knee pads brother. 29 years from now you’ll be glad you did 🤙
Thanks Robert! My knees dont bother me a bit and Ive always hated wearing knee pads. Do appreciate the concern though.
Finish it before you launch it! It will be a constant pain in the arse otherwise.
It will never be "finished". This yard is full of boats that tried that and simply never launched. You can always haul a boat out again...
You could really move into a small town along the water where you rebuild and repair sailboats..
I dont hate the idea...
Looks good man ! Keep on trucking!
Thank you, will do!
love the pencil trick
Pretty handy! Thanks for watching
good job greetings from holland.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Progress!
Innit a beautiful thing?
Impressive skills as always!
Thank you!
Badass!
Yeeeee!
Great progress brother
Thank you! We're getting there...
Looking great
Thank you!
Super cool episode as every time. Love the work!! It is slowly starting to take shape and it is looking spectacular. Cannot wait for the next episode.

I'm sorry for the remark, but you need to take care of your hands. use gloves
dont put your hand in front of air gun
Appreciate your concern, but there is always risk in doing this work. I have to hold the piece somehow...
