This is the best. I spent over an hour trying to figure this out a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t get it. Finally had time to watch this again and followed step by step. Bingo!
I know this is an older video but am now converting to manual from electric and this was extremely helpful. I've enjoyed all your other K5 videos as well!
Thanks very much! I'm replacing the electric motor with a manual crank on an 89 Suburban and could NOT figure out how it went together with the spring and pawl. Even after watching it took me a bit. I was not getting the pawl to go in far enough with my thumb, had to get a screwdriver to really press it all the way in. Well done though and thanks again.
Just so you know its a universal key for the lock cylinders. Bought the new cylinder and tried the keys to the new one on the old one and guess what? I spent $35 on a new set of keys
It's easy to do at least! Obviously you'll have to disassemble some things in the tailgate to get to the crank though. Being that these trucks are so old, in many cases it is fortunate when anything works! Thanks for watching!
Great video. Hubs has a 1984 Blazer M1009 and needs to remove the crank. Do you have to remove the window to do this? He can get to one of the screws on the crank after removing the panel but not the other. So any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
For anyone struggling with this if you look closely his tumbler is gutted. There is a feature on the tumbler that retracts when a key is inserted that allows it to rotate. I had to drill mine out in the end.. the new key wouldn't retract that feature.
Saved me so much time. I fiddled with it and could not figure it out. Thank you for doing the step by step. 💪

Wow. A local locksmith was gonna charge me $300 to install this for me. Thank you 🙏

Never even thought of replacing that. I figured I was lucky enough for it to roll up and down lol.

You need a manual window regulator and the crank assembly
thanks!
