This plugin is like adding a sample to you drum sounds! It’s freaking easy, and awesome!

In my opinion (and this is coming from a guy who likes to do things the old fashioned way where everybody plays in the same room and record live in the studio), the only instance where I would use this plugin is when I am recording a “singing drummer” (a la Phil Collins) who is recording his or her vocals and playing the drums simultaneously. In order for me to do that, I would place a Kaotica 7B over an RE20 mic (for maximum isolation) for the singing drummer to record his or her vocals into, and I would then close mic each and every drum and cymbal, but then also record my overheads in stereo (with both panned LR) - the trick here is to listen for the LR placement of each close mic within the overheads, and then pan the close mics to exactly where you can hear them in the overheads! Then eliminate the overhead mics, and route ALL of the close drum/cymbal mics to an aux stereo mic, slap the CLA Drums plugin on it, and then you can go to town from there - add reverb, delay, crazy stereo FX, etc!
The rest of the time when the drummer isn’t singing and playing at the same time, I won’t bother with the plugin - simple “companding” techniques are all you need on your overhead/room mics!

This is great. I know you're showing the plugins which necessitates some soloing. The CLA method of mixing is (virtually) never solo anything - mix everything together at the same time, make no space for anything - fight aggression with aggression

Does this plugin have any latency? I’m wanting to use it in a live stream setting. Is this possible?

Great playing on the drums, James! This thing is pretty impressive and looks fast. Would you typically start processing your drums on solo like this and then come back for more detailed work in context of mix? Curious about your workflow

Sounds daft but I would normally get a rough idea of tone (using CLA Drums) or my console depending on how I was working, some solo'ed, some in the context of the track. I then might add a Drum Master Bus processor so I can mix into a Bus Comp. Then if anything needs fixing then dive in and tweak. Does that help at all? J

The cla collection was the first set of plug-ins I bought 6 years ago after watching Chris L A demonstrate how to recreate the Boulevard of Broken Dreams vocal chain using CLA Vocals

I find the cla drums is very over the top sounding . I find the toms part way too scooped sounding like it’s Way too much processing . But like he said they don’t work on all styles .
