Great presentation and Amazing work Chris. Legendary. I never thought I'd care for any top producer or a plugin designer's name, but I admire Chris for this great discovery. I should no longer have to spend hours on vocals and leaving the studio wondering if the mix is better or if my ears are just tired.
Tony Maserati, Gregg Wells, JJP, others all say the CLA plugins are great. It's funny because you could make a hardware version of that exact plugin and everyone would think its magical.
im using garageband. how do you separate drum instruments into snare, kick, toms, overheads, room and cowbell in order to use CLA drums? i managed to convert to drum wave form into midi but the drum midi notes are not labelled into its different parts. its labelled in musical notes from C0 to C3
You can just seperate the midi between multiple channels. Like for instance creating a new instrument channel and dragging only the midi of the kick into it, another drums channel and drag only the midi of the snare into it and so forth. I'm not sure if there's any alternative way to achieve this in GB.
@@andyleigh2784 i seperated drum track into 5 midi tracks and garageband started getting system overload messages. seems midi tracks tax the CPU and RAM. had to freeze other tracks to continue mixing without overloading system. here is song done with CLA plugins: th-cam.com/video/nks_pU0WD0I/w-d-xo.html
has anyone used this plugin on a "complete" drum track...such as compressed looped drums where one cannot separate the drum components? Is the overhead preset substantial in a finished mix drum mix? Sort of how BBEs overhead would work on overhead preset...
Isn't Logic drummer like a virtual drum machine? If so, this might help you mix them better. It's not a virtual instrument but rather a set of tools for mixing drums easily (eq, compression, etc.).
Ok hoping I can get this answered . I just finished the webinar with the man himself. I wanted to ask if I have the cla drums vox bass, etc. Do i still want the cla comps the ask console, eq etc.or do i have all that under the hood in the cla signature bundle
Overheads usually refers to cymbals and such (usually 1 or 2 mics placed over the top of the drumset), Room refers to the actual room - when you're recording drums (or any acoustic instrument for that matter), there are a lot of times when you would also want to record the reflections of the room and when you then mix it with the actual source, it can make it sound more natural as you're basically adding the reverberation of the room in which the source was recorded, but it depends on the source material and the sound of the room of course.
@@rabinrai5203 You're right, it says it can be used for this purpose but overheads is more of the correct term and choosing this mode will probably yield the better results in most cases. Cowbell is mostly for well... I would guess - cowbell.
its the emulation of his SSL board, in other words, its just the "hiss" and tonality of the electronics within the SSL desk, to give your track the sound as if it was running through an SSL, it emulates it quite closely as well, so im told! ;-)
He really mixes using all analog gear.. he himself said that. He doesn't mix with plugins. He's made these plugins with waves for professional people n also for people who cant afford to buy all the analog gear that they want but still they can get really great sound with these plugins
this and CLA BASS...i love.
This is such a great vid. Thank you CLA and WAVES!!!

oh peak again... 👍 red one more time.
Great video, this guy is good. Chris Lord is straight up motivation
05:06 thats what made me buy his signature plugins. A nice starting point, just as plugin is in default.
this guys good at whatever this is.
wow...that was unreal
16:15 What a tip! what a genius.
16:15 👍
Great Video Lovely
wtf waves couldnt figure out how to run audio from that session so we didnt have to listen through a camera mic. WE'RE AUDIO ENGINEERS........ USELESS
Waves plugins are industry standard. You don't know what you are talking about. Don't embarrass yourself. Pfft

It doesn't matter what equipment you have. It's how you use it. just saying
@@dncviorel ok boomer.
LOL, I came here from their website to make that exact comment
I think I need this since I'm a drummer,less menu diving.🤖⚡
Good sounds
I love this plugin.
CLA is such a diva :D "Stop it. Play that. Play this. Solo. Unsolo!"
y do videos about mixing and mastering always have terrible audio that can't be heard
OMG so right, never thought i doing something like that!
This video would had been worth something, if the sound was recorded through the soundcard, not the horrible camera microphone through loudspeakers.
dadobi2 Haha, agreed!
So the plug in does the phase flip automatically? I didn’t get that part ..

don't do that. Will sound like trash and the plugin isn't designed for that
Nyakz 2 year old question i wonder if he realized this before 2 weeks ago lol
Sorry I didn't have time to fully watch - Is positioning the compression slider below 0 now set the plug-in to work as an expander?
Do people use these on Midi drums (or is it mainly used for real, live drums?)
Both work. I've used on both and it sounds great.
lol cowbell. love it.
Can anyone tell me if this can be used on the drum aux or should it be used on the individual tracks?
It's intended for individual tracks I think, but I don't see why you couldn't use it on an aux/bus to get a blend between wet/dry signals.
use it on the violins if you want
I‘ve got it too, but rarely use it as I only use the Logic drums ... or do you think that you should the plugin there too?

Kyle Patterson just do whatever sounds good to your ears, he's used everything on everything, he has said that himself.
Every track is different.
what are overheads and room effects mean in CLA drums? are they sounds of clapping, tambourine, etc?
Overheads usually refers to cymbals and such (usually 1 or 2 mics placed over the top of the drumset), Room refers to the actual room - when you're recording drums (or any acoustic instrument for that matter), there are a lot of times when you would also want to record the reflections of the room and when you then mix it with the actual source, it can make it sound more natural as you're basically adding the reverberation of the room in which the source was recorded, but it depends on the source material and the sound of the room of course.
@@curtiscole9151 isn’t cowbells for cymbals? It’s stated in user guide

And how pan hi hat, toms and cymbals? : /
The way he holding that pen is actually great stick technique lmao
drums sound good before use the plug in
Why does this plug in change a mono track into a stereo track? Makes panning more tricky.
Jim hardiman Doesn't it come with a mono version of the plugin aswell like many other waves plugs?
No it doesn't.
Jim hardiman it does...
Dharma Rat perhaps the mono version only comes with a bigger bundle?
nope, i purchased it on its own last night and have both
what is zuul?

it's a scene from ghostbusters, thas what I was trying to figure out
The only question is: Would CLA use this plugin on a commercial track? I bet no.
He actually has said that he does use it from time to time, as it does things that his analog gear can't.
He really mixes using all analog gear.. he himself said that. He doesn't mix with plugins. He's made these plugins with waves for professional people n also for people who cant afford to buy all the analog gear that they want but still they can get really great sound with these plugins
He was getting mad at whoever was manning protools
you can tell this dude has ego like kanye lol
Damn, this guy could talk the legs off a donkey.
The CLA bootlegs!
I used CLA plugins on this mix. They worked fantastic!

funny dude!
Really fantastic
sorry but this sounds horrible
defo doesn't... It is great for hip hop and RnB. Can make dead drum sound great
Sorry, but you must be deaf
