As a data analyst I compared dozens of cars and I have found that this particular vehicle is in a top three category with BMW and Lexus for this year make model and style of vehicle. I can guarantee you the CVT engine is nothing to worry about it boasts more than enough power and saves a generous amount on fuel
One of the best looking SUV. Very stylish, not overly aggressive, but very dynamic look. Before I bought my RDX, I tried QX50 exactly because of that look. But...I am not ready to buy SUV with cvt...
Nice review! If Infiniti wanted to expand the market for this, they should of avoided the CVT. The QX60 already has a CVT. Scares me that they could potentially think of putting a CVT in the Q50.
I just sat in one and REALLY liked the layout and space. I'm tall and it is one of the few vehicles that puts the steering wheel in just the right spot. I currently drive a 2016 Q503.0T AWD and would not buy another one. It is a great Swiss Army knife solution (eco mode 28mpg and sport mode 17mpg) IMO. My wife doesn't mind driving it as much as she did the G37x. It just doesn't put a smile on my face like the G37X I had before it did. Especially when you start a G37x and the car shakes. Back to Lexus I go!
the upper screen is matte screen which make less reflective of the light~ that's how simple why they are not use one big screen. why you guys can not understand that?
At the beginning I'm like "how tall is this guy, 7 feet tall?" as he stood next to this. These small crossovers sometimes look more and more like hatchbacks with plastic moulding.
Gorgeous exterior and interior. I just got the majestic white 2020 QX50 Sensory FWD with Apple Car play and Android Auto and the interior finish is top notch. The CVT will take some getting use to specially coming from my previous car (2017 Q60 Red Sport), acceleration is slower in QX50 but has a smooth and quieter ride which I preferred to Q60 Red Sport stiffer ride. I'm not doing spirited driving, racing or taking this car to the track or bombing in the canyon road. I got this car because of the good deal I got from Infiniti with huge discount and incentives. The safety features of this car is really good and it drive itself and the looks. Infotainment looks dated, and not stopping my decision to get this car.
The interior is nice, the exterior is nice, but that powertrain really doesn't match the price tag. It matches the new Altima just fine, and Nissan agrees as they've put it in there, but this engine and CVT should not have been in the new QX50. What a let down, seeing as how good looking it is inside & out.
@@NONARCS You're clearly mistaken as, for example, the Lexus RX with its predator face is and has been the #1 selling luxury crossover in America. Real people are out there voting with their wallets, instead of with their keyboard like you. Nice try though.
@@NONARCS The infotainment is fine. No Apple car play, but we use Sirius anyway. The CVT is a great and simple in design. If it holds up long term that will be the question and so far so good with ours. Best looking cross over in the mix IMO. Regular maintenance will assure longevity.
@@xorbitman Yep, and it's a personal choice. The Infiniti's interior feels like a touch above Acura. At least we have choices: want more performance - Acura; want more comfort and still some power, QX50. Of course, I'd wait to see which holds up better; Honda 10-speed, or Nissan CVT.
Review on this is too late.... Amazing car though, drives perfectly.. I came from an Audi and chose this over the Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC (GLC was the worst). Audi technology is great - BUT the steering, comfort and space is beating Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
We have a 2017 qx50 and its amazing. So fast, tons of power. This new one is slow and boring though. I was looking forward to another one. But I think my wife now wants the qx80 😂.
Definitely not slow by any means. But your response is catered to making the older model drivers feel better about not having the updated model. I get it....
@@l.lyn.5914 definitely not, the new look on the outside is nice. But the duel screen is garbage. New isn't better. Unfortunately they dropped the ball on this one. The CVT doesn't deliver power. And it's slow. It's basically an over priced pathfinder now. I guess we all like different things in the end. Some people just have lower standards on what good is. I get it...
Sorry but look get better informed next time. The BMW X3 is the benchmark in this class. Consumer Reports rated the BMW X3 the highest in it's class. 81 points and recommended vs 67 points and NOT recommended. Not even in the same league! LOL!
Their CVTs are fine as long as you take care of them and change the fluids every year. The things that are holding me back on buying one of these is the new engine style which is the first of its kind in a production vehicle and usually when manufacturers try out new engine styles the almost always never work. The other thing is the infotainment which is awful.
They ruined it with that second screen. And what a waste of an engine. Just keep the 3.7L and make it turbo. I want 380hp in that bad boy. I definitely won't be buying a qx50 again.
This vehicle falls short vs a BMW X1 even. The infotainment system in this Infiniti is 10 year old technology that shouldn't even be in a vehicle this expensive. The rest of the vehicle falls flat in every detail against BMW. Too much road noise and the handling is mushy and the ride is choppy. Sorry Infiniti.... I have a 2012 Infiniti 37xS coupe (Red) with lots of customization both inside and out and I can honestly say that this model is not up to the standards of other vehicles that they build.
@@benlisi2540 Why are you insulting me. What kind of credibility do you think you now have calling a car junk? Car and Driver just named the BMW X1 Best Premium medium sized x over (SUV). I own a beautiful 2012 G37xS Coupe in Red; It's my hobby sports car. Before that I used to own a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE and a 2005 Nissan Maxima SE. My 05 and my G are modified especially my G inside and out. They should've used the same transmission as the Q50 or an automatic like other luxury brands. If you look at the BMW 8 speed automatic transmission is one of the best out there, and this is not coming from me, look again at the reviews of the 2018 model which is a big improvement over the 2017. I have the optional 8.8" touch screen with the new system 6 software and It is truly remarkable. No t bad infinity makes some real nice cars these days. And they getting really popular

Why?
VCT (engine) , not CVT(transmission) .

Infiniti, is so close. Clean up the lines, fit and finish and uniform materials. Acura's new RDX is banging.
