Infiniti had a renaissance in 2007 with the introduction of the updated G37. All the "experts" were putting it at the head of it's class, and it really was. They definitely gave you the most bang for your buck back then, and the interior was on par with it's competitors at the time. Add that with the upcoming coupe version, the larger M series, and the futuristic FX crossovers, and Infiniti looked like a potent competitor to Lexus and the German rivals. But sadly, Infiniti never built upon their resurgence and they let their interiors become outdated and stale. A real shame, but it seems that Genesis has picked up where Infiniti had left off. They just need their own stand alone dealerships to distance themselves from their Hyundai counterparts.

Infiniti cars are built off of GTR DNA so as far as I recall, up until 2018, nothing on the road was faster in ICE configuration. The only car at that time which could give it a run was a Tesla... Infiniti stayed fresh until electric began to take over... they didn't have to change cuz for those who knew they were reliable and exceptional.

I also have owned a Lexus RX. Was wildly unreliable. Constant oil leaks, burned coolant like crazy, random evap codes. Horrible knock sensor glitch that wouldn’t let overdrive kick in. Also just a terrible engine layout always in these cars with the drive belt pressed up towards the wheel and the intake manifold covering the entire back half of the engine bay. Horrible layout for maintenance.

Nissan's V6s feel alive. Toyata's engines feel like "just getting by". They usually feel lackluster/bland. The Lexus & Infiniti brands are definitely a step up in luxury. Just keep away from the Nissan/Infiniti CVT if you want reliability. The problem is there are too many of these cars on the road (along with Acuras & Hondas), and that gets boring. It's the same thing in Europe when you see mostly BMWs, Mercedes, Audis and Porsches. It's nice to look at them, of course, but it quickly get old to see a sea of them... and these brands use to have more prestige to them, but they've become common cars out there which means little anymore. Even in the ghettos here in the States they're driving around in Cadillacs and Mercedes, etc., so basically any schmuck can get his hands on one.
That's one of the reasons why my wife drives a Genesis G80 (1st-gen.) since it's a great all-around car. It's a little luxurious (but not so grandioso in a flashy way); very reliable so far with nearly 100k on it; it has a 311hp NA V6 with AWD; and the best part is that there aren't too many of them on the road which is nice. Between the mundane and the conspicuous out there, it fits right in as a more subtle luxury brand... although the new models now seem more avant-garde in styling and appear more Aston Martin-ish.
Any way, for a CPO from the last 3 years, I think they're one of the best bangs for the buck.

I don't need a car to last me a lifetime. You can easily get at least 10 years out of an Infiniti with proper maintenance.

I have had an IS350 2007 and I currently own an IS350c 2011. The issue I had which was major was transmission issues. In my IS350 2007 I never changed my transmission fluid, and it failed. My current is350c I just got a transmission flush and it runs great. No engine issues whatsoever. Cad Converters failed on my 2007, but they are still good on my 2011 is350c. I love my car it is quick and nice.

Thanks for sharing and yes, there have been the odd transmission issue through the years.

What was the mileage of the car with the transmission issue? I’m thinking of changing mine @140k miles. Is it a good idea?

@@Romeingtv Mine was at roughly 188k miles when it failed. I was told that in this model it is advised to get flushed every 30k miles. Since it is a sealed system you should get it done by a Lexus certified professional. I did it recently just in case. I had never got one and did not want to go through same trouble.

@stolenelection You should do some more extensive research. I have seen mixed feelings. What makes sense to me is that things fail after a certain point. Do you ever change your oil regularly? Why do you? Oil get dirty. You should chage oils and fluids. The Lexus has a closed sealed system and some weird positioning when inserting fluid. Most of the time a mechanic will only do a 20% change. However I have heard that it is recommended a lot despite having a lifetime transmission fluid rating.
Plus mine crapped out at around 188k so you may be good.

2013 G37xS owner here. As far as repairs, with the exception of owner's errors and dealers screw up, I have zero out of pocket repairs. This thing is solid.
I also like the material used on the lower part of the door and the center tunnel. It is one of those soft plastic (mold injected). I prefer that over the hard plastic Lexus uses.
Yes, it is not as prestigious as a Lexus, but it is good enough for this guy;)

A hundred bucks more a yr on average to run an Infiniti vs a Lexus? If that level of penny pinching is what determines which brand you purchase you should be looking at a bicycle not cars much less premium ones.
