@@unknowncomic4107 Dude, “The Company” is executive management put in place by the parent company Hasbro. WOTC’s unethical behavior, its dishonesty, and its abuse, can be blamed on the company leadership, but at the end of the day it’s still WOTC. Chris Cao isn’t a loose cannon or rogue executive acting on his own initiative and without approval from higher ups. He is doing the bidding of the people who hired him. This is WHY they hired him.
It’s really dumb to scapegoat one person and give the rest of the executive leadership a pass. And as far as rank and file employees go, they have a grace period to find new jobs if they value ethics and honesty over a paycheck. Not everyone can just jump ship at a moments notice, but they better be making plans to get off it at the earliest opportunity. Don’t be dumb and blame one person. And while we are not going to harass rank-and-file employees, they are not off the hook, either.

It already sounded so much like someone who can't see when they're wrong, they didn't have to make any changes.
It's like when you tell a child to say sorry without them listen to why. They're saying it but, unfortunately, without them understanding why we're not going to get any real changes.

What really speaks the truth is how content creators are whipping the community into a frenzy over a seemingly normal - albeit shittily handled - business decision. And that really only affects the content creators, not the community of people just running a home game and going about their every day lives.

@@GoingRogue ya know what, for years Dungeons and Dragons has been a generic name for Fantasy Role Playing Games among the general public and even some of us nerds in our lazier moments. Y’all know what happens when a trademark becomes a generic descriptor? The trademark owner could lose their right to the trademark. And if WOTC loses the Dungeons and Dragons trademark, it’s game over. They will have to compete with everyone else on a level playing field.
I think we can make this happen.

I lost it at “MILF’s” acid arrow. I never made that pun in my head. I’m not sure what MILF’s acid arrow is, but I feel I must be punished now.
It's actually Melf's Acid Arrow. There are quite a few spells in D&D that bear their creator's name, like Bigby's Hand. If I remember correctly, Melf and Bigby were the player characters of the early designers, or something like that, who got forever preserved in the lore of D&D.
It is corrupted, tainted and will never sound the same ever again, and I love it 😂😜🤫🤭

True, but don't forget that "just doing my job" or "I don't want to get fired" is not a valid excuse for destroying the game. See WW2 Germany for similar examples.
The self pep talk at the end was amazing. So accurate in it's depiction of the OGL issue - it's not the people that are making the content, it's the clueless corpos that make decisions and have never actually played the game...or possibly any game.

This is really well done. It would've made me chuckle if I didn't know every word in this video was basically how Hasbro and WOtC execs view D&D verbatim.
It’s wild how 15 years ago a recurring joke about the CEO not knowing *anything* about the product the company sells would have been immersion-breaking.
Today it’s a prerequisite to showing you’ve been following the story.
"So how is that different." Gosh, this hits so hard at the top level people.
In my future TTRPG games I will always look for oppertunities to say somthing like "They might have thought that they won and we lost. But actually, we are all winners!" :)

Can’t agree more with the ending statement. From what I have heard from credible sources and WotC insiders, the two people who are really at fault for any of this is Cynthia Williams and Chris Cao. You actually got their characterization spot on as both have backgrounds from micro transaction heavy companies and neither have ever once touched anything related to actually playing a D&D game.
What's extra funny is "sent to the pit" is actually the literal highest promotion you can get as a devil in hell. Its how you become a pit fiend! (If Asmodeous doesnt supposedly bleed you into life first)

Now historically, they were the foremost members of Charlemagne’s court, although many of their famous exploits are largely fictitious, representing Christian martial superiority over the Saracen hordes.
If WotC put this out instead of their initial response, it probably would have been better for them.
