    Hey Warren, May God Bless You for the life you provide for these dogs. You have a unique gig going there where you can have the professional life which from the outside looking and long for. I am a now retired professional mechanic for my entire working career first out of Tech College 2yrs went to work at Metro Transit, a very big agency to the north of you with over 1200 coaches. Great job but got tired of it after 12yrs and finished my wrenching 2 years ago on the Seattle Waterfront working foreman on STS container cranes. Otherwise known as a longshore mechanic where I loved the benefits etc but absolutely got tired of all the internal politics going on between the greedy group of drug addicts. I always mourned to go out in the field and be on my own, the scenery and variety is unmatched. Anyways sorry people, this is not the place for this just putting my feelings out there after 38yrs playing around on heavy equipment. Still love tinkering and will NEVER quit building and playing with older automotive Chevy Engines. We ;love your work Warren....keep up the great entertainment

    That's way to much! The one thing I like with the cummins programing is there ECM's will compensate for leakage better then most common rail's. Which makes it a little harder to troubleshoot. They will run were others won't. Awesome troubleshooting Warren. Thats how you gitter done.

    Cool Test to show people how to pinpoint an common rail fuel issue. This may piss some people off, but oh well. I’ve haven’t yet replaced all six injectors in the 5.9L or the 6.7. The cummins manuals are very specific that a tech needs to pin point which injector/s are contributing excessive fuel to the return path. I couldn’t tell but it seemed this truck was just barely at 106k miles? I’d bet the issue was with a single defective injector vs all six, but you already knew that. I’ve worked in fleet my whole life except for a year at a dealer. In fleet maintenance the game is to keep your cost per mile low by repairing only the defective/worn components. Since the customer requested all six, I would have just taken his order as well. If this was my truck however, I’d spend the extra hour to pinpoint which injector solenoid or ball seat was defective. Really cool video nonetheless!

  • @miguelrodriguez7253
    @miguelrodriguez7253 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Greatly appreciate this video, I will do this test tomorrow on my 04.5 and I bet I’m bypassing at one of the adapter tubes. I was wondering why my fuel tank was so damn warm and when I would fuel up I’d have visible fumes coming out of the fill tube. Funny thing my number 3 rail line had much less pulse vibration than the other 5 rail lines. Damn.

    How does tightening the injector lines affect return flow?

    • @jeremyb2907
      @jeremyb2907 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're referring to injector connection tube. It will return fuel if it's not to torqued to spec. Reason is because the the tube does not seat in the injector with the proper torque. So if it's not tight enough it will not go in the injector because of the fuel pressure so it will just return the fuel.

    I figure if your having an injector or injectors returning too much fuel, like the truck owner says, good idea to replace all 6 injectors. Who knows when another will fail due to wear. And good idea to run better fuel filtration, like a Cat UHE with water separator 4161225 or Cat UHE 3190844 . They both filter at 4 microns or less using the new test standards. They are better filters than 1R0750 or 1R0749. and can swap as they have same thread 1-14

    • @schwartztekllc
      @schwartztekllc ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to try one of those filters on my Fass pump. Only thing I noticed about the 1R-0750...it feels like it bottoms out before compressing the oring as much as I'd like. Doesn't seem to be leaking though. I had to replace my '03 injectors at 110k and had the Fass pump for half those miles.

    • @scottdowney4318
      @scottdowney4318 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schwartztekllc UHE 3190844 won't seal to a typical filter head, would have to use a special cut rubber sheet, found that out after buying one. I did buy a UHE 4161225 and it does fit in place of the 1R0750, it is a couple inches longer.

    • @Dansyoung
      @Dansyoung 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      9012a and two lengths of 5/16” hose is all you need. You put the 9012a into the rear banjo port of the fuel filter housing. The 9012a line than goes to a large collection chamber as this will be return flow from your high pressure pump. Than you disconnect the quick coupler for the fuel return line and run a 5/16” hose From the return To a separate container.

      I know a good friend who has a 1991 Freightliner FLD tractor that he built a dump bed for a nd a custom hydraulic setup. He bought it used in 1993 for his farm (hauling mulch, compost, etc.) It has an L10 Cummins and a 7 speed Eaton and he's driven her all over creation. He loves the thing and he said he's always kept up on his maintenance and it serves with zero issues. Do with that information what you will.

      @@ejsayler1 Glad to be of service. Cummins makes a good product and I've always felt that way. The old oil burners are pretty reliable and as long as you keep that overhead in check and keep up on your regular preventative maintenance (changing oil and coolant and such at the proper times) you're pretty much good as long as you don't have a ton of mileage or hours without ever having been rebuilt. As for the rest of the truck make sure there's no apparent water in the hubs, diffs, or transmission, make sure P/S fluid looks ok and you're not pouring any fluids everywhere, make sure the hydraulic oil looks and smells ok, make sure filters have been changed recently, check for excessive wear on tires, look for streaking rust and see where it's coming from, no pops in the front end or shakes and shimmies while driving. Listen and feel for drivetrain hums and vibrations, check brake adjustment and air leaks, brake lining wear, lips and grooves in the brake drums, make sure the machine looks like it's been greased lately. The usual.

      In a single axle its okay tandem its a gutless wonder, decent engine, not big on power good for 300hp. It sounds like this is a converted single axle tractor being a 9000 and single axle. Have a good muffler on it the L10 has a loud bark with the jake.

    How many miles on this cummins ? Looks like a new truck 🤔 Injectors are becoming spark plugs these days !! 80,000miles time to change 😡
    As far as the rude commenters. You know they have not been following you long because we know how much you love your dogs. Not to mention in most of your videos you are telling them to stay away from the road and they listen !! Trouble was still a pup and doing what young dogs do.It was bad timing for him. One way to slow down drivers is to place cones or obstacles in their way. If it is your property stager a few trucks are tractors in front of the shop and make it hard for them to get by. Works great !!
