I've got an 06 with the 3.5 and the 4 speed. 95k on it. Bought it for 4k and so far I've put pads and rotors, both front wheel bearings, unplugged the mode door so it's permanently in recirc mode and paid to have the oil filter adapter gasket replaced as it was leaking. I've got a small leak from the oil pan but not a large enough leak to worry about it. All in all its a solid little car. Pushrod v6 is hard to kill and it's comfortable to ride around in

I have the same car. Mine is the 06 Chevy Impala LTZ. It almost has 120,000 miles on it.
I have that same Oil leak problem.
It has a small leak. So I will have to check the oil every 3 weeks to a month. To see how much it needs.
I only use Synthetic Oil in the Engine.
Car runs smooth and engine purrs.

@@4mikeydYeah, the 3.9 liter sounds really nice when it's in good working order. You can't beat an old pushrod V6.

A big thing with these cars too are the flex pipe on your exhaust. The part leading from the manifold to the down pipe. Also plays a part because the engine mounts go bad on these cars notoriously.

I got the v6 and got no leaks, driven 90k so far too. Forgot to mention the ABS can be bad on the wire connection from the vehicle, not just the hub assembly

    I have a real Impala....
    A 1971 Impala.
400 small block and a turbo hydramatic transmission.

I had the previous generation 2005 Impala 3800.....Car became a money pit .....Had to replace transmission, went through three catalytic converters, intake manifold gaskets, power mirrors stopped working, gauges stopped working, rocker panels completely rusted away.
The worst issue is that it developed a random parasitic electric draw.....The battery would randomly go dead on it.
I could drive it for months with no problems and then one day I would go out and battery would be dead....I would jump start it and it would be fine for anywhere from a few days to months when it would go dead again.
New alternator and batteries made no difference.
I ended up carrying a booster jump pack in the trunk and had to use it on several occasions when battery would randomly go dead.
I bought a 9th Gen 2017 Impala which has been a much better car so far than my 2005 was.

Leaks? Yes! Oil filter adapter gasket. Crankshaft pulley oil seal. Transmission fluid line fittings. Don’t forget to change the cabin air filter!

I got a free 2006 impala 3.5L with 201k miles on it😭. Only problems my friends dad said it had is that the oil pressure sensor is bad so it constantly says no oil pressure but the mechanic confirmed it does have pressure so thats good. The AC does not work and i do hear clicking from the climate control actuator, the one controlled by the knob that changes which vent the air comes out of, that will be a pain in the ass, but thats about it. i havent really inspected for leaks from any fluid, but i didnt see anything on the ground and he didnt mention anything about leaks. The car was free which will help with spending money to fix these little issues but i do think the engines oil has been changed regularly. Only things ill do for now, is replace the oil pressure sensor, that climate control vent actuator, the gas cap, and change all the fluids. If the transmission oil doesnt look completely black or smell to bad ill drop the pan or plug or whatever and change that too. I’ll also inspect the brakes, and everything i can. Impala is a pretty solid car, rides comfortable for its age and mileage ill give it that

To fix the AC is not that hard. once i located and got the new actuator, removing and replacing only took about 10 minutes.

    • @SushiXVII

I just replaced my oil pressure sensor and actuator today. No more dash beeping at me constantly. The actuator wasn’t too bad, took me bout a little more than half an hour. Most annoying thing was trying to move the wire harnesses out the way, trying to get the clips in a tight uncomfortable space lmaoo. For the AC, when i push the button it flashes 6 times and turns off. It wont let me engage the AC compressor. Most likely it just leaked all the refrigerant out somewhere, disabling the AC system so it doesn’t damage itself. so ill charge it up with some UV dye.

I've had to replace the Oil Pressure Switch multiple times during the past 3.5 years.
An "oil pressure low, stop engine" warning displays and a beeping doesn't stop when the switch doesn't work.
