      Never chain your dogs outside,that's big gator country.Youll come back to a broken chain.
      Dogs, absolutely any size,are like candy bars to gators.And,never walk anywhere close to waters edge.You won't even see them.
      They are unbelievably fast.
      I've heard them pull full grown cattle into river.
      I've seen huge ones in wild.
      Old fisherman.Trust me on that.

    I haven’t cleaned my solar panels in three years on the road. They work the same as they ever did. I run the engine to get extra amps when I need them. A necessary drag.

    • @KimannChessa
      @KimannChessa  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think cleaning them may help but I didn't have much sun. So, it didn't help me. My trailer 7 prong plug only gives a trickle charge, I think about 4 amps, to the battery. It wouldn't have been enough of a charge for me to stay off-grid. My dc refrigerator uses too much power. Thanks for watching!

    Hello from a fellow Floridian truck camper! I've enjoyed the same exact spot and it was very peaceful. While you most certainly need to get your DC to DC charger working correctly, your setup should be fine as is. If you want to increase your backup power, give the EcoFlow systems a look. Going with a Delta Max or Delta Pro would allow you one more charging option, their dual fuel generator. This would allow you to not have to worry about carrying gas because you could use your onboard propane. I am enjoying your travels so keep the journey going!

      Great idea! I'll look into it. One thing that kept me from getting a generator was carrying the gas. I hate the smell and don't know where to store it. I never thought about using propane! Oh, phooey! Sorry that boondocking spot didn't work out. Darn batteries/solar. Definitely a two N/A beer trip. Do your camper batteries charge from driving? Twenty years ago, when I was full time in my little RV, I generally plugged in at campgrounds. But when I did boondock, I know I could spend two nights for sure on the battery charge from driving. Thank goodness, cuz I didn't know anything; just drove it. Didn't have solar 20 years ago ;) I love your little cooking segments. Gonna try the chipotle tacos... with the buffalo sauce ;)

      It sounds like you have good memories from living in your little RV. I have a better system now, and the DC-to-DC charger works. So, my truck does charge the battery when I am driving. I think the trailer light cord does a trickle charge, but it wasn't enough to keep up with my refrigerator. I also have three solar batteries, but it is an effort to keep them charged with portable solar panels when boondocking. There is a lot to learn. I appreciate you watching my videos! 😊🤗🙏

    Have you had any luck with dry camping in a city?

    • @KimannChessa
      @KimannChessa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally, not really. I always drive out of the city or get a campsite when possible (bigger cities might not have any). It also depends on your rig. Vans do better on city streets or parking lots. My truck camper sticks out too much. I also don't take chances in questionable overnight parking areas. I got the knock once and it's stressful moving in the middle of the night. When I was in a van I got away with staying in hotel parking lots - not so much in the camper.

    We have hiked in the Everglades. We came, I should say our Morkie, came across a 4’ python it tried to get her. I always carry a 6” lock blade knife. Just as it bit and coiled around I grabbed it just behind the head a stuck the knife between it and the dog and cut its head off. It still was constricting, so I unwrapped it from Sydney. She recovered pretty quickly, and gave me tons of kisses as I held her. We took her to the vet to check out the bite wound. They gave her antibiotics and some medicine for any pain. It was pretty intense, but always carry a knife for protection if your dogs but also yourself. If they have a gun and your not next to them do not pull your knife. If they are on top of you then pull it. Jab, Side of the neck, front if neck, either armpit or right between the genitals and the leg on each side. Those are where the arteries are. You hit one, their body will shutdown trying to protect itself.

    Old mechanic,owner of big motorhomes + trailers.
    For all y'all new campers+ Glampers,solar is very weak, unreliable high Amperage ,steady output..
    You're finding that out,even in deep S.Florida.
    Get a small inverter ( if worried about noise) or open frame gas or dual fuel real generator.
    You want something at least 1,200 Running Watts.Thats 10 Amps of steady power.They are pretty quiet.
    The average microwave or RV electric water heater,or a portable electric heater,are 1,200 Watts of steady operation draw.
    So,the above small generator will run one of those at a time.
    They are considered "High draw" home appliances.
    For a gas generator,that has a RV plug for standard 30 Amp service,you want a bigger, 3,500 Running Watts generator. Champion makes very dependable lower cost generators,than say a Honda generator.
    Bass Pro Shops ( formerly Cabela's) or places like Tractor Supply, carry them in store.
    To find available Amperage,divide Running Watts by 120 (120 Volts) ,which is standard line voltage. 120 Watts equals approx 1 Amp.

    • @KimannChessa
      @KimannChessa  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the tips! I will look into the Champion. If I had one, I wouldn't have had any problem staying. I appreciate your help and explanation!

    • @Bubba24-ne4zp
      @Bubba24-ne4zp 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad to help ! It's tough watching people struggle with solar.
      I saw one of the bigger Champions ,4450 Starting Watts/ 3550 Running Watts,for $339.
      That will plug right into your camper+ has outlets to run other things.
      I've got same size I bought few yrs ago,but mine has electric start,that one doesn't,but not hard to pull start+ they start right up.
      Always let a generator warm up for few minutes,to let internal temps equalize,before plugging anything in.Dont start cold,with load applied.
      Change oil after first 5 hours of operation,then change according to instructions.Usually take just less of 1 quart of oil.

    • @Bubba24-ne4zp
      @Bubba24-ne4zp 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of the smallest I described,will fit on floor behind front seat of truck.
      A dual fuel with propane, eliminates any gas inside vehicle.Most gas powered are kept in bed of trucks.

    • @Bubba24-ne4zp
      @Bubba24-ne4zp 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thinking about a solution to transport of generator ( gasoline especially) with a truck top camper,get a rack that fits into 2 inch receiver in back.
      That way,with rack locked,and generator chained down,simple to roll it off,little ramps,,or just carry a small generator,a safe distance away for exhaust when running.
      Always chain generators,they have a way of disappearing.

    • @KimannChessa

      Most new campers are all switching to 12V as absorption refrigerators are going to be going away very soon. Besides, ammonia absorption units didn't do that good a job anyway as they seemed to always struggle to keep things cold especially in the hot weather A small generator or a working DC to DC charger would have had everything charged in no time with no need to be searching for a campground with hook ups. 😳 The new Cirrus 920 is an all electric coach, 12V refrigerator with an induction cook top along with a 12 V AC unit and 12V heating with a propane backup. The lithium and solar combo along with a DC to DC charger as standard equipment is designed to keep things powered up and running...

    • @SpykersB
      @SpykersB 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@roberts.1400 I’m well aware thx. Here’s my issue with these 12v…
      Most new RVs that come with a 12v fridge do so only now because they r cheaper to make. And most RV’s coming with these 12v fridges don’t come with a lithium battery bank, solar panels, a gen n dc to dc charger either. And yes that new cirrus is one of very few that does, i love it myself but it’s to heavy imo, but it also comes with a big price tag. My point is choice of having a 3 way fridge run on 12v, propane &/or shore power is far more superior still today, for the choices it offers. We can all talk about the future, but it’s not reality yet, and these 12v fridges force people to have to use a serviced campground until they save up enough bucks to sustain the stupid fridge for boondocking. Im on my 4th rv, with a 6-7cu ft propane/electric absorption fridges n never had a problem keeping icecream in any of em. The 12-18cuft absorption fridges are the ones that suck. I had one of those too lol. Love my 6.3cu current 3-way fridge, im never stressing about how i’m gonna be running it or draining my batteries, and it’s unlikely both my 12v system or propane system become an issue at the same time.

She’s not an idiot. 🍻

      @@SpykersB Depends on your needs if your really desperate or not. Apparently you don't know how helpful/ giving campers are. All you have to do is ask. I wouldn't have a problem if someone came to me asking if they could use my post to charge their portable generator. They would be able to leave it there for a few hours if need be. Take that stick out of your butt.

      @bertkelly7650 That's a good idea, and most people are kind, but all the sites were primitive - no water, electric, or sewer.
