Frequently Asked Questions:
😇 How old are you? 23
📝 What are you studying? I am set to start my MA in English Literature at Oxford this autumn.
📚What are your favourite books? • 200 book recommendatio...
📚 Do you have a book club? Yes! You can join it here for free: fable.co/club/...
📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!
🎃 Do you have merch? I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. These are all designed with students in mind and follow models which I've used when planning my studying. Our products are printed in pastel colours on recycled paper: bit.ly/3wgsR85
🍵 What's your favourite tea? That's a REALLY hard one, but I think I'd have to say the B&B Chocolate Digestive Tea: bird-and-blend-tea-co.sjv.io/youwilllovethisone (affiliate link)
Ruby is what the actual definition of an influencer should be. Someone who actually enjoys using their brain and challenging themselves. 👏 you do you and you seem so happy, please don’t ever change! Love your channel. I hope you are so proud of everything you’ve achieved and everything you are. Hats off to you! 🎩
Oh that’s really lovely of you. I’m so pleased my videos can resonate like that… honestly, there is nothing more valuable than letting yourself learn and see the world anew 🥰
True❤❤❤She is amazing!!!!!

“Life is too short to have a bad edition of a book.” Quoting you in notion dashboard, those are wise words to live by 🙊
I’ve made it to the notion dashboard!!! The highest honour 😁
There is something really nice about having a library to yourself.
Isn’t there just!
Dear Ruby, I am so much enjoying your Oxford adventures! My first term there was 1973, 50 years ago. You bring back so many wonderful memories for me, especially the late afternoon sunlight on mellow stones. Thank you.
You're amazing ❤
📚🤍 good luck on your assessments !!
Oh my goodness thank you!
I'm currently in a masters program studying to be an archivist and I love what you said about archivists and librarians being valuable resources! I'm also in the part of term where so many assignments are due and this video is inspiring me to prioritize my time
Truly, I’m so glad… your role is so so important. We need to keep our archives running and active 🤍
Archivists and Librarians are key, it's a highly undervalued role, we most definitely need more of.
About to finish my masters of information studies ❤ thanks for the shout out ruby
You all matter so much that on my acknowledgement page for my not yet written thesis, I included the librarians at my uni and local library because they have already been helping me so much!
Love to hear from other people in the archiving space! I am in corporate information management (so not quite the same), but my career started in digitising historic records! We need the past so we can learn about the future
Ruby, I've been a long-time subscriber who has always enjoyed your videos, but I have to say that the Oxford ones have been, thus far, unparalleled in how wonderful and special they are. Your joy and excitement are palpable, and it carries through to the viewer. Selfishly hoping that you stay to do a Ph.D. and share this Oxford magic with us for as long as possible!
I couldn't agree more!
I wholeheartedly agree! I ❤️ these videos. You are so passionate about literature, and Oxford is very lucky to have you in its midst. The libraries look so beautiful too.
This is so true! As an NHS librarian I always encourage staff and students on placement to get in touch with us if they need help with systematic reviews or a literature search on topics that can support clinical decision making. We offer database searching and bulletins. We are trying hard to publicise our services, but it’s true, not many students know we can support them and love to help encourage positive learning experiences 😊
please don't stress about editing! your degree comes first, and we'll all still be here for you even if you take a month or more off in between videos
I just want to say that though I am much older than you, you are inspiring me to rediscover my love for physical books and learning!
Her voice is so relaxing and I absolutely adore her enthusiasm! She is so adorable, love her ♥
I am 67 years old and I adore your videos! It brings back memories of my college days in New York. Your beautiful college and London streets are so architechturally beautiful. You do do much studying and yet you find time to make videos and write! Wow!
It’s Oxford
truly admirable how you are able to film, edit, study, and write essays all while during finals week too! Thank you so much for carving out time to still make videos for us despite being so busy and exhausted, loved the video as always~
Hi Ruby, I've been watching you for over a year now, and I just wanted to thank you for changing my life. I'm a 14 year who has just started her GCSEs, which I have to say is terrifying, but your videos help me get through it. I too hope to be a writer one day, and you give me so much inspiration , and to top it all of, your academic planner is the best one I've ever used! Thank you so much for being such a positive change in my life ❤❤
I enjoy going to Oxford vicariously.
I have the exact same feeling every time I read Milton. And then I remember that he was blind and dictating his greatest works and I am filled with seemingly impossible wonder and admiration.
"Life's too short to get bad editions of books."
I 100% agree! I'm glad you were able to treat yourself to a book you wanted, especially with the stressful term!
I just love it when you post Ruby! 🥰 I hope you're still enjoying your time at Oxford!
Oh Alice thank you! I truly am loving it, despite the hard work :)
I have had a really bad day today - this has made me smile again 🙂 Thank you Ruby x
Oh I’m sorry to hear that :( I’m sending love x
Take some time to yourself, make a cup of tea and return to a favourite book… I promise you deserve it (& that’s not a suggestion but an order 😉)
I also worked at the library in school for my 4 years and realized so many resources went unused by my classmates. Working there made studying effortlessly easier just from knowing about the writing center, the presentation center, how to find the right books, etc. It’s what I miss most about being in school is it’s so much harder to have full access to things students have 😢
As an information science student, I am so happy you appreciate our (hopefully my future) work. ❤
I love the smell and covers of old books, the way the type is laid out, the fonts and margins so perfectly attended to. And I also learned from you that type can be playful as illustrations are. It’s also cool to hear when you you read what the book passage means to you. I once heard the song writer play his song the way he intended the song should be played and it sounded so different than normal, it was a real treat. Thanks for all!
Absolutely loved this video, as always! I always feel so much happier to get to work whenever I watch your videos Ruby, like my whole attitude towards something I'm struggling with changes, your videos are just so cozy and sweet. Take care! 🧡
Wait that’s so incredibly lovely to hear Ellie! Thank you 🥺
I used to wonder why, as a Swiss, I couldn't seem to capture the magical atmosphere of Hogwarts in my own tales. Today, I believe this enchanting quality is entrenched in British culture, which I cannot yet reach. Oxford exudes that distinctive British charm, it's awesome! Thank you so much for this beautiful video, Ruby.
Not for everyone! Most British people can’t really relate to this sort of experience at all 😅
As an English person, I thought Switzerland was the most magical and spectacular place I’ve seen! I genuinely said it feels like heaven, when I was on a mountain.
@@victoriabamber2852 Thanks for your reply! It is peculiar that as a foreigner, one can have a perception that all British people have attended Hogwarts-esque schools and wear stylish school uniforms. 😁
@@crystaledwards8854 Thank you for your answer! I grew up in a small village in the mountains, speaking Rhaeto-Romance, and the mountains have their own magic, it's true. Legends say that mountain trolls, fairies, little people and even yetis live there. 🎿
Ahh, Ben’s Cookies are AMAZING especially when they’re still warm! I found your videos recently and have been enjoying them as I grew up in Oxford and definitely took its beauty for granted until I moved away!
You grew up in Oxford! Oh that’s so lovely!
And big yes to the bens cookies!
The videos probably hold her accountable to do the proper thing watching herself self accountability to do well cause she herself is watching ❤
So true haha! X
I recently found your channel, and it's really inspiring especially me being a bookworm too. However being a science student I hardly get time to read fiction. Ruby you're literally awesome (also i feel you give hermoine granger vibes)!! Keep up the good work. Love from India:)
3 things:
1) Loved the chatty getting ready part of this video near the end! So fun.
2) The red & black outfit is so chic!
3) "I don't like the idea of not having any new Milton to read"
Ah thank you for the lovely feedback! X
I absolutely love your videos! They make me feel so cozy and warm. Thank you for uploading and honestly helping me take my mind off things and helping me relax. I love your uploads so much. Keep up the awesome work!!! Much love from Canada!! ❤ 🇨🇦
I only discovered your channel recently and I'm really drawn in to your style of vlogging. It's so wholesome! I'm in my fourth year studying with open university which means all my learning is done online at home, and I live in an area where there are no decent libraries to sit when I need a change of scenery. I'm living my dream student life through you just now! It inspires me to keep going. Thank you for sharing your study journey with us :)
Literally found your channel last night and only just finished your latest video, and to see you just uploaded 3 minutes ago was a pleasant surprise! Looking forward to watching this one, thank you for the content 😀
Ah thank you for being here! X
I am truly amazed at how enthusiastic you are about your studies.
I work in a Medical Library as a library assistant and I used to work in Schools, but I love the joy of adult readers there is such a tranquility and a sense of knowing. High School libraries are brilliant to as the enrich a reader but working in libraries i just love as its the perfect blend of customer service, getting to know your people and those that support the library, attracting new people and sharing a love of learning. There is a interesting shake up where I am in Australia amongst librarians who are focusing on the need for Librarians in Schools and Institutions as a lot of places are being reduced to one or no librarians or staff and there is a battle of promoting libraries and their service to encourage more support and staffing in libraries. But its a really interesting top and if people are interested look up libraries disappearing. But yes we love reference questions it gives us the thrill of hunt and if people ever have the time and have read some amazing library books please consider reviewing them and letting people know whats amazing as we can't read all the books no matter how much we try.
I love books that have been marked by previous owners. Love inscriptions from one reader to another. I have just inscribed five bilingual children's books for my great nephew who will come into this world in February. His ancestry is Irish-Filipino-Ukrainian-Polish & Alastian (first word books in each of these languages). Love your vlogs.
Hi, Ruby! You know, although your studies look tiring, your vlogs look sooo relaxing!! ❤ Thanks for the video!!
HI Ruby, I don't really tend to leave a comment below but just wanted to say thank you, thank you so so much for brightening up my day. I am genuinely so happy to know that you're truly enjoying your course so far and I think you will for the rest of the programme 💜 Keep up your beautiful work as always! Love from South Korea ❤
Great job, Ruby! Btw. 3:54 ... Yeah, I know that feeling ...
3:53 little library ASMR moment 😍 love that
It’s really cool how you manage to set up the shots while being so busy. I need to get into the mindset of doing that to document my activities. 📷🤸🏼♀️
You definitely should! Though do keep in mind I haven’t posted for two weeks 🙈
Can’t stop watching your vlogs. Something so pleasing about it
Ruby, loved your Exeter vlogs but I have been smiling the whole way through this. I truly think this is my favourite vlog you have ever uploaded because of your aesthetic and how happy you are.
Hey Ruby, I'm Sam from India, just wanted to say hi, been watching your videos since my study days, been many years, love your study videos and the asthetics, all your videos feel so relaxing and calm. Lots of luv ❤️❤️.
Thank you so much for being here! X
Dear Ruby, thank you so much for what you are doing here on TH-cam. Thank you for your passion towards the Humanities and Literature in particular. I’m a Historian and a book lover too. And Oxford is one of my favourite cities. So, I just want to say thank you again. I really enjoy watching your videos. They are just amazing. And special thank you for the music in the vlogs ❤❤❤❤❤
Your videos bring me so much joy and have me seriously considering going back to school for my master's degree.
Feel free to adore a change and make a change. We are here to make the world a better place to live 🙏. Keep enjoying , keep reading. Do whatever you love and expectation should never be a binding. it makes life stagnant. So keep changing and keep enjoying. We will always love you.
Oh Oxford looks enchanting in the Autumn rain. I hope you're doing well, Ruby!
Glad you’re doing great girl ❤
so proud of you Ruby, I remember when you were still in high school. good luck on your journey!!
we will always support you. Keep working hard as always.
Loved seeing the forbidden library section from HP! You seem to be having the best time, ever and I’m enjoying every second of watching your vlogs :) x
No matter your day, a good book makes everything alright.❤
I know I'm late to this video, but I just wanted to say thank you SO much for your discussion on the materiality of books! I come from the marketing side of the publishing industry and the whole physical experience of a book is so fascinating. (I'm actually looking to get my PhD in book marketing, specifically exploring at the visual packaging of a book -- the cover, the interior design, the book trailers, etc.. Take it from a book marketer -- "don't judge a book by it's cover" is true for everything except books!)
I love how you handle everything so smoothly, sometimes, I can never get all my homework done, especially with all the varied deadlines. Any tips?
If you want to level up your book collection, I highly recommend Fairyloot, Illumicrate, Bookish Box, and Owl Crate. They are all subscription boxes but do have special editions that are sold publically. Of course, you have to be a member to have a shot at purchasing the signed editions. The books are gorgeous!!! Hardbacks with foiled covers, endpapers, maps, and sprayed edges. The resale value can also be very high depending on the book/series/author. I bought the most beautiful version of Neil Gamain's Stardust book from Illumicrate and Fairyloot never disappoints.
could have done with subtitles at 4:06 couldn't tell what you said
Thank you for sharing all of this. As someone who would love to experience Oxford as a student and never will, your videos truly allow the rest of us to live vicariously through you ❤️❤️
Oooo the library with the blue carpet 💙💙💙
I am glad that you are enjoying your Master's degree. It is so interesting what you are doing and you are very focussed in what you are doing which is good.
I love the tea advent calendar! I've found one for myself here in New Zealand by Pukka. Such a lovely idea!
Top tip: to stop flickering in video of lighting increase the exposure (on iPhone it’s easy) then it stops it 😊 no flickering anymore
Thanks for your positive influence, Ruby!! I am always so inspired to work on my own MSt after watching your videos!
what a relaxing video!! i really like when you chat more in the vlogs, it feels like catching up with a friend💌💌
You just now its a good vlog when she puts ✨the nutcracker✨ on
It’s getting to that time 🙊
The cup that your library allows is actually very popular among coffee chains, they just print it with their logo and colours. I'm pretty sure Caffe Nero sells the same cups from the same manufacturer
I got the Bird & Blend advent calendar this year too! Incidentally the same version as you, although I agree that the colour scheme isn’t my favourite either. But I’m looking forward to discovering all the different types of tea in it 😊 cheers! ☕️
I'm living vicariously through your Oxford vlogs. My university was built in the 70s so it is nowhere near as beautiful as yours. I can only hope that I can attend a place like that when I start my masters.
I have the exact same problem as you with timing. I forget how long things take and don't allow extra time for little things that crop up unexpectedly and delay you, such as not being able to find something you need or discovering a mark or a hole in an item of clothing you were planning to wear, etc.
My boss adds "driving time" before his meeting starts maybe you can add "getting there" or "getting ready" time to your schedule. This way your mind acknowledges that this is needed as part of completion of the task. Thanks for the update.
Oh that’s actually such a good idea! Thank you for that :) x
its been so long ruby! can you please share tips on admissions on oxford uni that would be very helpful!
I know!!! I’ve been rather busy! X
can you share tips on oxford admission please!
Hey ruby,,u have been my fav utubes since ages,, lots of love n wishes for future😊.
Can u share some tips on how to focus for long period n how to cut down distraction from phone specifically, your precious vid has helped a lot.
I can definitely share more tips soon! Possibly over Christmas :)
❤
Please make videos about Oxford 's surroundings ,college.
I studied abroad at Christ Church College in 2008 and am very much enjoying your Oxford videos. It brings back a lot of great memories! Thanks for sharing :)
I own a Kobo Nia instead of a kindle. Got the official cover when I bought it. After some years of use, that cover became a mess. The fake letter started to peel off and the Kobo limited terrible. Until... I truly realised what was hiding beneath the fake letter. So awesome. It feels like an old library tome. I peeled all the fake leather away. So amazing in terms of perception of the book device. Whenever I move my fingers while reading I forget it's not an actual book. So yeah, I do understand what you mean by covers and editions and perception. It makes a world of difference.
This young woman is so inspiring
Your city has beautiful interesting architecture. Thank you for taking me along. I would love to spend time in the libraries too.
I was in Oxford today and it prompted me to check in here! There was no doubt of finding you immersed so completely in the rarified academia of an Oxford Masters; all the best for the assessments!
the library where they filmed the restricted section of hp.... I would never leave that place honestly
i’m reading samson agonistes as well! it’s the last bit for my milton course, and i’m sad we didn’t have enough time to read paradise regained. what a beautiful copy of his works too!
Would you consider doing another live study with me? Been rewatching all your old ones haha and they’ve been super helpful this exam season
God I adore ur vlogs and I do wait for them as a reward after I finish any uni work.
I was a photography student and I was always asking the librarians about a multitude of different materials. My course mates were always making a show about how it's irrelevant to the course but it was so so interesting. But I got into Manchester to study Library and Archive Studies and I'm so excited !
Thank you so much for a fantastic video!
I am obsessed with language learning and so I decided to take advantage of your very generous Skillshare offer. I'll be doing a beginner Spanish course and I'm very excited! :)
Ruby you posting a video just always makes my day! Good luck on your assessmens! It is just amazing to see how far you've come!! You're such a role model and never fail to motivate me!!! ✨✨

Oh finally! Been waiting for new video Ruby! ♥♥
Im sooooo happy for you ruby ❤️💖💕 keep going, we love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh I love love love every new video from you, Ruby. ❤
Ruby, the bird and blend advent calendar is amazing!! I will have to buy my mom one. The Deckchair Dreaming tea is possibly my favourite aswell!
Thank you for posting Ruby, I love your content so much ❤
Wonderful video Ruby! Good luck with all your assessments
I experience the exact same struggle with timeliness. It started in university for me too because I was very active on campus so I stayed at every class or event up to the very last minute to wrap up, but then I would be late to the next meeting or program. It carried on post grad, but I’ve been able to implement some routine to take out decision making and save on time
I've just entered the busiest time in the semester for my masters as well! It seems like everything is a tsunami and this upcoming week is gonna drown me. Good luck on your assessments! 😊
I've been waiting for your videos 😅. Currently I am preparing for my undergraduate 1st year programme in International Relations. Your videos inspired me to start my study again. Take lots of Love ❤.
The new film Saltburn came out in cinemas today and that's set at Oxford uni. One scene right outside the Radcliffe Camera.
I would love to know which teas you keep stocked at University. I’ve been loving your content! Have a great week.
Ruby, thank you for your video! It’s very interesting😊
So great to see someone enjoy their degree!
Being late is so relatable. I told my professor I am an early bird and yet I end up being late to her two classes 😅😅 It’s nice to see someone who plans and does a lot to be sometimes late as well.
Hi Ruby I was wondering if you could do a video on how you take your notes
Random question for Ruby but what brands of cozy pajamas do you recommend? also moment of appreciation for taking the time to make a video while you're so busy with school! So happy for you that you're at Oxford now!!
Not Ruby, obvs, but she got Marks and Spencer pyjamas in some previous vlog which she loved
Ruby is the best influence on young girls.
