I saw Richard during Christmas holidays when I was a kid. I told my Mom there's Richard Petty and said didn't think it was. I went up to him and spoke and he was the nicest man. He didn't have his hat or sunglasses on.
I won a contest to a meet and greet with Richard Petty as a kid back in the early 80’s. It was at Komfort Koach here in Louisville Ky. I got a shirt ,a 43 car pillow and Car and car hauler with a Richard Petty Figurine. Truly a great day and to be honest he treated me like the King that day
I never get tired of listening to the “King”! A fan for life!

I met him 5 years ago when I was in 3rd grade at his museum and he signed everything I had which was over 5 things even a pinewood derby car of his 70 super bird

That's an example of how it was then here in N.C, back then Steve and Rick. Both you guys know that. Was it not the greatest place to grow up, living the American dream and not even realize it until, you're old enough to take the time to think about it. Boy, I sure feel sorry for kids these days. Another racing academy award performance Steve, Rick, you can't begin to know how y'all made my day.
Born and raised in North Carolina mountains. Born in 1970. McDowell co. I got to be one of the last ones to bring illegal alcohol to the boot leg dealers before it was made legal in the early 80s. Richard your my hero buddy. I had a sticker of the 43 on my big wheel.

No offense to The King but man you can tell he lives in a bubble ! I have never met anyone who don't know where they was at the moment they heard of the attacks on 9-11-01 ... I am 42 and not once has a person when talking about Sept 11 not recounted the moment, what they was doing and where they was .... I find that a interesting outlook on RP's daily life..... I met RP once as a kid and recall him signing only RP and not the huge beautiful signature you commonly see... Has anyone else only got the "RP" as a Richard Petty signature ? Another great show...
