Dale Earnhardt and Those $%^@ Whining Drivers
มุมมอง 8K7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Dale Earnhardt was not a patient man. Nowhere was he as comfortable as he was behind the wheel of his race car. He wore an open-face helmet, sat in a seat as low as he could possibly get it and still see out the windshield and had his safety harnesses just so. He was not about to listen to any talk of slowing speeds on the race track ... and restraint systems like the HANS Device? They were com...
Why Jimmie Johnson REFUSED Traction Control
มุมมอง 8K21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Once upon a time in the land of the NASCAR Busch Series, Jimmie Johnson's team used a traction control device. He didn't like it ... thought he could get better performance out of the car himself ... and didn't want to use the device any longer. This is what happened, straight from crew chief Tony Liberati.

It turned out to be the perfect combination of rookie team owners, a rookie driver, a rookie crew chief and a hand-picked team. It was with Herzog Motorsports that Johnson won his first NASCAR event, just months before moving to the Winston Cup level ... and unto...
What Caused Michael Waltrip's VICIOUS Bristol Crash?
มุมมอง 7K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
The images of Micahel Waltrip's infamous crash during an April 1990 Busch Series race at Bristol are hard to forget. Surely, Michael was seriously injured in the mishap ... or worse. That he survived and continued to race as if nothing had ever happened is one of the great miracles in NASCAR history. But what caused the crash? Robert Pressley shared HIS side of the story for the first time with...

Disappointment, Botched Pit Stop Led to 1991 Roush Racing Implosion
มุมมอง 9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Roush Racing went into the 1991 NASCAR Winston Cup season trying to shake the disappointment of its controversial loss in the previous season's championship battle. Dale Earnhardt captured his fifth title in 1990, while the Roush organization would have to wait another twelve years for its first. As bad as that shock must've been for Jack Roush, Mark Martin, crew chief Robin Pemberton and team ...

Jim Smith Can Kiss My A ... The Story Behind One of NASCAR's Most Infamous Interviews
I could sit and listen to stories like these all day every day. Miss the good ole days of racing.
I did not know you couldn't grow carrots in Kentucky. American survived for centuries without 🥑.
TKO Dodge is the first time I heard Jamie's name, and they ran well.
After seeing him win while filling in for Marlin back in 2002, I'd have thought sky was the limit, this kid is gonna be a badass. As it was though, his career fizzled out quickly, only 7 wins in 16 full season's at the Cup level... I'm sure he had fun though, I think I remember him dating a Miss Winston early in his career...
This is a.good example of how the Frances took care of Earnhardt and childress because later rudd go slapped with a fine.
Oh yeah!!! 👍 😊
Ole Chesapeake boy. Born in Norfolk. I know the areas he grew up in.
They didn’t make much more hp just by spraying nitrous in the engine. The power comes from the additional fuel with a nitrous system not the nitrous. You have to add oxygen to the additional fuel to make the correct air/fuel ratio.
I was on a modified race team in NY. I spent many a long night after my full time job working on the cars and of course pitting them on the weekends. If the driver bitched and whined they way some of the drivers do today , when the the car came in I'd take the tiers off , take my air wrench with me, and get in my car and go home.
The roster
👍👍👍
Everyone, including my own Father thought Jamie was gay, then the news comes out that he's dating & then almost marries Rusty's daughter, then everyone, including my Father, shut the hell up! 😂👍 I felt bad then, and still feel bad for Sterlin, cause he was gonna win the championship that year ☹️ Jamie is a great guy & a damn good "Wheelman" so thanks for this episode guys! 💪
Naaa he’s always had good looking ladies. Before Rusty’s daughter was Cleo Garcia 2002-03
when racing was racing, I worked for Jack Roush, managed machining but assisted with engine build and engineering, back when Mark Martin drove the Valvoline 6....I was there when this accident occurred.
Clarence is a shrewd businessman
I bought my first late model from Mark and David Green in 1998. The shoulder harness belts were mounted to a tab welded on top of over slung rear clip. I’m sure when they welded it there years earlier, that’s all they knew. But talk about a dangerous mount! We changed that location to back of roll cage where it belonged.
When Jamie says the old way of mounting belts was barbaric, he wasn’t exaggerating in the least.
I also know Todd and Clarence and they’ve never smoozed me either lol
I’m shocked you forgot Jim Hunter’s name. The absolute most friendly guy from NASCAR. Period !
I forget my kids names and they still live with me. I go through the list of their names till I get it. Nothing strange about forgetting the name of someone you haven’t seen in 10 to 15 years
Hard to believe, but Hunter's been gone 14 years
If a King Air impressed you, can’t imagine if he’d sent a G-450 or up
Installing seat belts into my street/drag car was a challenge. Finding information thats not in the instruction sheets. Digging through nhra rule book etc. There has to be a liability or something for the mfger to not show all the wrong ways to install - Less is more. And then they have an expiration date every 2 years
Every belt sets that I’ve bought, every one of them had instructions. It hasn’t mattered from Simpson, Gforce, crow, etc
@mikeadams42 yes but it doesnt mention what orientation is correct for the seat belt bracket/tab. The instructions will show that the crotch belt goes through the seat but theres an exception for a stock seat. Doesnt define the "braced" mounting point for the crotch strap if your mounting it to the floor of the car. I errored on the side of caution. Maybe i asked myself too many question but i also dont want to die if an accident happens
Awesome job as always.
If u ain't cheatin u ain't trying hard enough
Jamie McMurray First Wins At Charlotte Motor Speedway In Concord North Carolina NASCAR Winston Cup Series Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
The sport just ain’t the same w/o Dale
They had to EAT! Thats dooe af.
I met this man he is so freaking nice and amazing!!
Dale Earnhardt was a dirty driver if you take away the wins from him crashing out other drivers..... he pretty much would be a nobody.
I have a picture of Kenny Erwin from back in the by himself by his car in the garage what's odd to me no one was around. At the time I took the picture and actually looked at him he was terrified he new he was dead before he even raced. When I look at this picture it is scary to know
I love the content!!!! Current racing is not worth following but these old stories remind me of great times! Thanks!!!!!
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
It's a shame Dale had to lose his life. Before safety would improve
I was going to run a arca race at Talladega, car owner said go get the seat out of the trailer and put it in the car....i looked in the trailer found a seat that fit good, a cup seat from 2008 or so. I brought it in the shop said im going to use this one....na it has be be the one in that trailer, that one doesn't have the sticker that they want. I brought it in the shop and asked who is riding with me this seat can fit a family of four in it, he said there so expensive i bought one for anyone that was going to drive the car. Sometimes its over thought
It’s a shame it took Dale’s death for NASCAR and the track owners to make safety more of a priority. Anyone who says the impact of Dale’s crash would had led to the same result need to rewatch Michael McDowell’s practice crash at Texas in 2008.
If Dale doesn't block Marlin, he is still alive today.
Yes sir ABSOLUTELY
No. If Dale doesn't make contact with Shrader He spins out. Watch the wreck again. Schrader not there Dale would have spun.
Ironically a HANS probably wouldnt have saved Dale. If he had survived he'd been severely injured or disabled. I've seen the police evidence photos and his lap belt was torn near where it mounted. Its believed sweat on the belts and not cleaning them caused them to deteriorate quicker than usual. Plus its not known if Dale loosened the belts in the red flag after the Tony Stewart crash and forgot to tighten them back. What is known is his chin and chest struck the steering wheel. When Schrader hit him I believed the lap belt broke and it allowed his torso and head to slam the steering wheel.
Good analysis. The stress on the spinal column due to Dale’s body getting shifted due to the loosened belt and multiple crash forces would have certainly lowered the effectiveness of any head restraint system.
I have to wonder, though, how much a full-face helmet and SAFER barrier might have helped even without much benefit from a HANS.
@TheSceneVault I think he'd still be here had there been SAFER barriers installed and he'd had a full face helmet.
@ I'll still say that Dale would have not made it due to a combination of forces from the crash (the de-acceleration from the impact of the wall with the combined acceleration from impact with Schrader) and the loosened belt. The SAFER barrier would have lessened the forces from the wall but any impact at 190 mph under those circumstances is fatal.
What you say does not make sense - those seatbelts don't deteriorate because of sweat - Mr Dick Simpson's life was practically ruined because of false reports - the reason he was injured so severely was because of the way he sat in the car - to say the seatbelt broke is irresponsible- seatbelts don't break or fall apart- people have had their arms and legs ripped off because of the belt - we use leather halters on our horses because a horse can kick out of it in case one gets a shoe hung - Nylon won't give - The level of the negative impact on Dick Simpson cannot be overstated- he had his life threatened and his reputation he spent a lifetime to build was decimated - all because of false , ignorant statements - And why would the fucking police share photos - if they did then they should be exposed
So where is the Earnhardt interview ?😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

I wish technology had advanced more quickly at an earlier time in the history of racing. I wonder how many lives could have been saved?
I know of five from 2000 to 2001, plus John Nemechek in 1997.
RIP🏁
Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
You are most welcome, as always.
Look at contact sports in general, hockey for example goalie masks were frowned upon. The first goalie to wear one was berated by his team.
The same goes for catchers in baseball.
@TheSceneVault It was a different era & mindset, and Ironhead was unique even as a child according to his sister. Damn watching Ole #3 do things with what was basically a taxi with a roll cage was amazing.
Some people don't like changing, there style Dale was one of them! Sadly cost him his life.
I am NOT a fan of Dale’s infamous “kerosene rags and candy asses” quote. It sounds cool, but if he’d given just an inch on some of the safety advancements that were starting to become available, he’d likely still be around.
Wrestling and NASCAR are synonymous. ! 😮
BS!
Ive long said Junior did more to promote Nascar than any other one person.
Back then, everyone cheated 😂
Imagine how dangerous that life was with cars that were unsafe. Mistakes were fatal.
I shudder when I see pictures of drivers in T-shirts and helmets three sizes too small, and putting gas in cars with NO safety equipment.
