  • 'The King' of NASCAR - like you've never seen him before. Richard Petty opens up about the loss of his wife and grandson, his Daytona 500 crash, what he wishes he'd done differently as a father as Kyle was coming up in the NASCAR world, and so much more.
    After 75 years of Petty Enterprises, 'The King' of NASCAR says the legacy behind the Petty name...won't be racing.

    I met Richard in the pits at Daytona about 2005 o 2006…. He was just as polite as he is in this interview. It’s nice when a person doesn’t let success go to their heads.

    That was a great interview. I grow up a Richard fan. We went to fan club meetings in Pocono every for about 8 years straight. He is one of the nice's guys you will every meet. He would sign autographs and take photos with each and everyone of his fans for hours and hours straight. He never left early, he stayed until everyone got the autograph and photo. The interviewer asked him how you wanted to be remember. I will remember him for being an really great guy.

    I met King Richard from I was 8 years old (1967). I stood in line for his autograph after a race. 2 Hours after other drivers had left King Richard was still signing! That is how much he appreciated the fans. I raced bicycles mini-bikes back then. I was always Richard Petty. What a classy gentleman!!!

    Kenny BIG FAN! Hey, if you were a “regular guy” and “regular mom” and you had an unlimited gas pump at your house - how often would you stop (or have to) for gas? In general, with EV’s you would only go to a gas station for vacations or road trips, right. (hey I watch every episode - but I would I send you an email?). thx

    This man made all his money from racing Chryslers. As far as I'm concerned switching over to Toyota He's just a traitor he let Toyota pay him off for his name to put two more cars in the Daytona 500 that are Toyota's I hope he never wins another race as long as he lives he's a traitor enjoy all that money that Toyota gave you that's all you're ever going to get.

    • @warrenchambers4819
      @warrenchambers4819 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That'd be every race. If you'd ever ran a race car you'd understand that. 1st yr we ran the car was by the rule book and we got lapped. Only after getting some "rule bending" tips from guys that ran up front did we start winning some races.

    • @sergeantmasson3669
      @sergeantmasson3669 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@warrenchambers4819 I/we raced in three pro-level series, NASCAR, NHRA, and NETRA, and we never did "bending the rules," nonsense. 250 wins and three class championships. No evidence that Dale Earnhardt Sr ever cheated either and he earned 7 NASCAR Cup series Championships. Jimmie Johnson and Richard Petty damn sure did some cheating as did Jeff Gordon and several others. Ray Evernham and Chad Knause were the most cheating crew chiefs in NASCAR history. Dale Sr's early years, he built his own race cars. Later, in his career, he checked every aspect of his race cars himself. Anything not right, got corrected or he'd refuse to drive it. His '98 Daytona 500 car is a prime example of that. Dale Sr got irritated with Larry Mac, and crew, until they made that car right. He would later say that was the best racecar that he ever drove. Today, "bending the rules" no longer works anymore.
