Been watching your vids for a few weeks now. I just acquired my first quad a couple days ago, a 92 King Quad that also has bare U-joints in the rear. Before seeing this vid I had spent hours searching to see if I was missing boots on the u-joints or were they stock without boots. I also spent over an hour unsuccessfully trying to find decent photos of the plate that was obviously missing on my back rack which SteveTheCanadien just mentioned below. Pulled up this video by coincidence and both my questions were answered, all within the last 24 hours, pretty cool. BTW, the housings that a boot would clamp to appears to my old eyes as rounded and wouldn't be conducive to hold a boot clamped to it. Also my 92 King Quad doesn't have the large tube front bumper yours has. Great videos, keep em coming.
All KQ300's have U/J's on the rear driveshafts, they were just encased beneath a rubber driveshaft boot. QR250 had shorter arms and driveshafts and is actually a narrower bike because of this, it also had different hubs on rear with smaller drum brakes on rear, drum brakes on the front (later KQ300 went to disc brake but the QR250 remained drums on front up until they did away with the model)
I recently acquired a 97 king quad. Your videos have helped me out a lot. It has a hard to time starting. Have to feather the throttle for awhile to get it idle but once it does it runs like a dream. The hotter it gets the harder it is to start. I have cleaned the carb which did not need it. Any idea why this could be?
I have had all 3 in my presence at once. Only a 250 and quadrunner 300 at the moment. From what i can tell the 250 is just an empty 300. No extras ( oil cooler, plastics around engine). Not alot of differance And then then quadrunner 300 has differant logos. And the suzuki on the rear rack ( rare and sought after). The us model dosnt have the plate. Everything else is the same. I was never sure if the fat front bumpers were stock, but its looking so. Great video man. Jelouse of the nice back plastic. I gotta weld mine together. And a new one is 1k shipped 😢😢
Thank you for all the info. Yes I do not remember my KQ having the name plate on the back that said suzuki. 1K for the plastics on the whole atv? I could watch for some for you. Never know what you will find.
I only know about the oil cooler, 5 bolt rears and the cv’s. If your rig has the oil cooler, I would think they’re essentially the same. Not sure about the internals but I think it’s highly unlikely that Suzuki would have made both 300’s very different. Nice find by the way and a great looking machine now that you’ve cleaned her up a bit.

I just bought one for 110 looking forward to working on it (king quad 300)

I have a 96 king quad 300 and the rear u-joint are covered by a boot ,just like a CV joint
Nice job on that quad. Should be an easy sell.
Have you ever experienced the hi lo super low gear failure I have a 97 with only 700 miles that the gears seized I can send pics
I have a king quad I had it bored that and it's leaking oil around us ahead and the jug
Head gasket was replaced?
Hey Schneids! My 96 King Quad 300 has CV’s on the rear where your machine has U joints.
Thank you. Any other differences? I swear that is the only difference I can find.

Check again... They are U/J's, I can guarantee it
I own a few of both and I do not see or feel a differance in power
I have a king quad 300 spin rebored now it has a leak between a drug and a herb
That muffler is not even roached....!
I literally painted it with high heat cause I had a bit left. The muffler is so clean. I have never had one like it
