    Ganondorf being sealed inside the Sacred Realm was a translation error on Nintendo of America's part. In the original Japanese text, he is instead said to be sealed _beyond_ the Sacred Realm. The white void he's sealed into isn't the Sacred Realm, but someplace else found beyond it. After all, when the Six Sages seal him, those six Sages are already inside the Sacred Realm. It would make no sense for them to seal Ganondorf inside the same place that they themselves are also in. The animation of the sealing shows the six of them opening up a portal to a white void, and said portal is inside the Sacred Realm with them. The portal leads to someplace else "beyond" the Sacred Realm, not to the very same realm that the six are already within. Nintendo of America goofed on that translation and have never corrected it since.

      But doesn't this line up with the plot of Link to the Past? Ganon is sealed in the Sacred Realm and eventually takes over it, turning it into the Dark World. He's then trying to get back into the Light World so he can take over that, too. By sealing him in the Sacred Realm, the sages at least prevented him from taking over Hyrule, at least for a while, whereas if he'd been left free he probably would have taken over both anyway.

      @@Greywander87 In the original backstory of A Link to the Past as given in that game's manual (both in English and Japanese), things happened quite differently from the events of Ocarina of Time.
      In said backstory, word of the Triforce and the Sacred Realm's existence has spread throughout the land, but no one knew where to find the entrance to the Sacred Realm. People searched far and wide for said entrance, until one day an entrance was found and opened completely by chance, by a group of thieves led by Ganondorf. The thieves entered the Sacred Realm and, upon gazing at the Triforce, they all turned on each other. Ganondorf stood victorious as the sole survivor, having killed all of his comrades. He then reached out to touch the Triforce, made his wish, and became Ganon, acquiring the COMPLETE Triforce (not just one piece of it) and turning the Sacred Realm into the Dark World in the process.
      However, once inside the Sacred Realm/Dark World after claiming the Triforce, he could not figure out how to get back out. He wasn't sealed inside it or anything, he just didn't know or have the means to get back out. This was because the Magic Mirror that Link uses as the mechanic to pass between worlds in the game was the very means that Ganon needed to get out, but he did not have it or know about it, so he was stuck. Regardless, he simply remained in the Dark World and began to build his power base from within that world, and launched an assault on the kingdom of Hyrule in the Light World, beginning the Imprisoning War (or "Seal War" in Japanese).
      As Ganon's evil poured out from the entrance to the Sacred Realm/Dark World, it headed straight for Hyrule Castle. In lieu of a hero that could wield the legendary Blade of Evil's Bane, the Master Sword, against this crisis (not because he was dead or anything, just that no hero had been found yet), the Knights of Hyrule did their best to hold off the attack until the Seven Sages (who were all elderly bearded human men, not various species of various ages) could seal the entrance to the Dark World and close it shut. They succeeded, ending the war and cutting off the still-very-powerful and still-not-defeated Ganon from the Light World.
      When Ocarina of Time was made, certain elements of this backstory were adapted into its gameplay, but ultimately, none of Ocarina of Time's events actually fit with this original backstory at all. And besides, the Adult ending where Ganondorf is sealed away leads into The Wind Waker. The Child ending doesn't involve any sealing. And then Twilight Princess came along to take up the spot following the Child ending.
      So in order for Hyrule Historia to connect ALTTP to OoT at all, it had to MAKE UP a third ending that's not actually found in the game at all when played correctly, and actually rewrote/ignored/contradicted much of the original backstory for ALTTP in order to force in that third connection between it and OoT, instead of just letting ALTTP exist somewhere else in the timeline separate from OoT since the two were made incompatible ever since OoT was first created.

You got the child timeline, the adult timeline, the fallen hero timeline, and now the "did you really just do that, you IDIOT" timeline.

Attempting to do so would only put the people of the world in more risk. It makes more sense to kill them right there and then. 3:39 This is because the cutscene with Zelda already takes place in Hyrule Field. You are already there
    Just that specific cutscene, early on, sets a flag to tell the terrain to not draw (aka. tell it to be invisible) So all you see is the skybox.
    When you void warp or use sun's song, it just reloads the map, but not in the cutscene, so it doesn't turn off the terrain as the instruction doesn't get sent.
    With the pactice ROM hack (GZ, made by Glankk I think), you can actually turn the terrain drawing back on without reloading the map, and you will see you are indeed in Hyrule Field.
    ZFG showed this off once.

All the doors lead to Deku Tree because they're all at the same height, but if you were to float up and escape Lon Lon over the wall like you do with Epona, then you'll be warped to different areas based upon how high up you were when you crossed the loading plane. Child Link in the last scene has the Triforce on his hand.
    Do you have any idea the time paradox this causes?
    Think about this. As according to the official timeline, Zelda sending Link back to his past splits the timeline (into Adult and Child). The adult timeline -- the continuation of the main timeline Link was on -- is deprived of the hero because he was sent back, thus leading to the events of Wind Waker. The child timeline proceeds to Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess because Link warns Zelda of Ganondorf's plan before he can hatch it, thus never allowing Ganondorf to reach the Sacred Realm and touch the Triforce.
    Thus there are two Triforces in play. Adult timeline Triforce (which has already been split up and dispersed to Link, Ganondorf, and Zelda) and child timeline Triforce (which never had a chance to split up yet because Ganondorf never touched it in the Sacred Realm). Thus, there are only two Triforces of Courage Link could have access to at this point in the story in theory.
    The first is that he took the adult timeline Triforce of Courage with him, which would utterly break the story of the Wind Waker as the new hero has to look for the shards of the Triforce of Courage, which should no longer even exist in that timeline of Hyrule as it went back with the Hero of Time to the child timeline. This would also make two Triforces of Courage exist in the child timeline.
    The other is that he holds the Triforce of Courage from the child timeline, somehow, which shouldn't have happened because Ganondorf, again, never had the chance to touch the Triforce and split it up.
    Unless of course, we assume the Triforce was destined to split and fall into their hands from the start regardless of Zelda's timeline meddling -- which might actually explain Twilight Princess, where Ganondorf -- despite having been caught and sentenced to execution without getting a chance to execute his plan -- was clearly shown as having the Triforce of Power, which let him survive and escape his execution, killing one of the sages.
    Or that the act of sending Link back in time in that way could only be accomplished with the power of the Triforce... of the child timeline, somehow, or some weird shenanigans that would've caused it to split off anyway.
    ...honestly, this little revelation brings to light a number of rather obvious in hindsight questions...

      The reason why Link was able to convince the King of Hyrule at the end of OoT was because of the Triforce in his hand. That was always the intention (though confirmed fully by Hyrule Historia). The Triforce of Courage split into eight since its owner had been sent through time's flow (Wind Waker mentions that when the Hero of Time left the land his Triforce split according. But, Link was still the holder of the Triforce of Courage, so it came back with him through time, which also split the Triforce at that time, which is the "Divine Prank", as I don't think anyone anticipated that Ganondorf would still somehow be the most worthy holder of the Triforce of Power.

    Kudos for the Hyperbolic Time Chamber reference, as I love a good DBZ reference in a video about LoZ: OoT, as it reminds me of all the strange similarities between Zelda and Dragon Ball:
    1. Both feature wish granting McGuffins created by divinity that are often central to the plot and/or the main villain wants them!
    2. Both heroic legendary swordsmen who have been sealed away for many years (Tapion & Minotia, Hero of Time Link & Hero of the Wild Link). Also the DBZ film known as Wrath of the Dragon here in the west came out in Japan before OoT, so you can't say that Tapion and Minotia were a homage/parody (DB started out as a parody of Journey to the West) Young Link & Adult Link, (maybe Link from A Link to the Past but that's a bit of a stretch). Personally I think that Tapion and Minotia use of Ocarinas against Hirudegarn might have inspired the titular Ocarina of Time as the film was released before or around the time when OoT was probably in development (or we've got a Stand Alone Complex-like situation where the concept of a legendary pointy eared ocarina playing swordsman originated separately around the same time in the same country, or the developers were subconsciously influenced by Tapion and Minotia as I personally have looked back at characters I've created and realized that I was subconsciously inspired by media I enjoy)! Mind you ALtP also featured an Ocarina flute so Link already had a history with the instrument which may have been more well known in Japan, as OoT was simply the game that solidified Link's association with Ocarinas!
    3. Both have a history of time travel plots and as a result said plots feature various divergent and often confusing timelines which fans do there best to try and make sense of, or just throw their hands up in frustration!
    4. Both have video game plot lines in a continuity separate from the mainline where characters from various periods interact (Hyrule Warriors spinoff series, and various DB games starting with Dragon Ball Online, Dragon Ball Heroes/Super Dragon Ball Heroes, and the XENOVERSE series, DBZ: Kakarot , Dragon Ball Fusions, and Dokkan Battle)! (NOTE: I included KAKAROT as the game takes place in an altered version of the main timeline created due to Towa gathering energy to restore Mira's core after his body was destroyed in XENOVERSE 1, so KAKAROT basically takes place during the period in-between XENOVERSE 1 & 2, which is why some events in the game play out differently such as Guldo being killed by Krillin & Gohan KAKAROT, when it was Vegeta in the original anime & manga)!

    19:30(ish) - what do you mean, "defies logic"? GuruGuru's music box thing has that speakerhorn coming out of it, which spins around and around ("round and round" is kind of his Motif, after all)...but, according to Relativity, if you hold the speakerhorn in place (as the Kokiri here are clearly seen doing) then its actually GuruGuru that ends up spinning...now, as for how he can stay perfectly upright while upside-down is another question...it doesnt look like his music box has any kind of harness or strap or anything that would hold them together, but that might just be part of the N64's limits (like how Link's sword's scabbard "sticks" to his back; were just supposed to 'imagine' the fittings and belts and all that)...but other than that, yeah, GuruGuru's spinning is easily explained

    13:00 This is exactly like an old and legendary GameShark code called "Beta Quest." All of the warps in "beta mode" took you to random locations. I swear I encountered that house lead to Shadow Temple boss door with the code active.

  • @oldum77
    @oldum77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When I was experimenting with the old beta quest Gameshark codes I noticed beta quest number seven sent Link to Hyrule Field with Zelda's Lullaby playing in the background with a cloudy background. And in the debug rom, playing cutscene number seven in Hyrule Field is that ending cutscene. Gaining control of Link shows the minimap for Hyrule Field! So Link and Zelda are actually standing in front of the Market, all the geometry is just invisible, is all. Just an interesting thing I discovered, lol

    • @QuasarEE
      @QuasarEE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. All of this is very well understood by speedrunners and ROM hackers for a long time now, so it's kind of a shame that these videos only treat it like it's weird and mysterious and don't bother to mention the work that's gone into understanding it all over the years or explain why certain things work the way they do.

    falling from the sky to hyrule field really gives me mario 64 vibes, when you fall from rainbow ride and appear on the castle courtyard, this becomes more special when you think about how they used the same engine to make both ocarina of time and mario 64, they even exchanged many ideas like the horse was originally for mario or the castle as a central area with worlds on paintings was for zelda, they even made an easter egg about that with the forest temple boss going inside and outside of paitings
