Your outfit is so Christmasy and pretty this video 🎅. I honestly hate a boring read more than an infuriating read. A read that made me mad I can at least talk about for a while! 😂. I still have Whoever Steals This Book volume 1! I think the manga is only three volumes so I may rrad the rest when they come out. There's also the original novel that YenOn is publishing. I may read that first. I somewhat liked the first volume but I agree it was clunky. Mayybe I would like it more if I had context from the novel. I appreciate you adding recommendations next to the manga you didn't like. I'm interested in reading Magus of the Library and Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl! That Beastly Prince manga sounds so infuriating 😂. I don't mind many bad fantasy romance but this one might be too much for me lol.
Aww thanks!! Gotta give those Christmas vibes even when it’s a more negative video 🤣 Hmm yeah I’d be curious if the novel fleshes things out or is less all over the place, but I also wasn’t a huge fan of the main protagonist (and you know how hard it is for me to get past that lol) Ugh yeah no that romantic fantasy has zero romance or anything redeeming about it…in my humble opinion anyway 😂
@@MizzMangaChatz It always amazes me that some authors/mangaka had the power write and create the most swoon worthy prince and they end up creating... that 😅. Hey I'm sure floats somebody's boat. I know how you feel about main protagonists that are hard to get past. I get that way with some shojo but mainly it's because the main characters just have no personality.
I'm really glad you decided to give us a yin to the yang of these titles! It's nice getting some forewarning on titles that might not make the grade for whatever reason, but it's far better imo to discover titles that are worth getting excited about! I'm definitely going to check out A Drunken Dream and Nijigahara Holograph! I love a good mystery! If it's kinda dark and sureal all the better!😁 Those are some of the things that I find the most appealing in a lot of the horror (or any kind of story really🤣) that I like to read to begin with! The fact that Be Very Afraid of Nanako Inuki! was in the boring section of the video says all I need to know about it!😬 There's plenty of reasons to not like horror, from it being off putting or cliche or any number of things really, but it's completely failed in the most fundamental way if it's just plain boring!🥱 Magus of the Library is absolutely one that I plan on reading soonish, and I actually already got Another and Ibitsu at the beginning of November!😂
Aww thanks! Yeah, I was like negative is fun but still like to recommend some good titles at the same time! 🤣 Definitely think you’d like Nijigahara Holigraphic from what I remember when I read it, it had me hooked lol A Drunken Dream is amazing my favorite short story collection I really hope you enjoy it!! 😊 Oh my gosh yeah…a boring horror it’s like how can you make it boring?! But, it was to me…none of the stories even left a mild impression on me sadly. 😔 Magus of the Library has the best art and really interesting story sadly vols have been releasing kinda slow, but still worth it imo! Lol
I also read hard-boiled stories from the cat bar this year and it fell at the bottom of my list too. I wasn't annoyed with it, I had fun, but it did fell short on it's premise and the characters design were too similar.
They were too similar! I’m glad you at least had some fun with it, just annoyed me. I felt like it had potential to be an interesting story, but it really fell short for me sadly..🥲
Yes O had both Library mangas on my radar and like the cover so o much. They are still on the list and not on the shelf. I will try them online. I like tge art insporation in magus...it is like east europe I thing but also like tribes like 🤔🤔🤔
I like the anime of hyperventilating much better and i think you get a more complete story if you experience both since there are some scenes in the anime that are not in the manhwa and vice versa.
I can't really think of any that I have read this past year that I haven't enjoyed. There's been a few that didn't live up to the expectations I had for them or were a bit inscrutable... cough Girl from the Other Side cough,😂 but I still had a good time reading them. There have been a few novels that I've read at various points over the last decade or so that were just complete letdowns though. The most recent was Solaris, which I read a few years ago. I talked about that one at length in a previous comment a while back, so I won't dwell on it here. The other three that jump to mind are Tommyknockers by Stephen King, A Dark Matter by Peter Straub, and Matter by Ian M. Banks. I've mentioned before being a huge Stephen King fan in the past, but there was absolutely nothing redeemable about Tommyknockers! 0 out of 5 stars! It is just dreadful! A Dark Matter was the first Straub book that I read that he wrote himself, and it was a huge disappointment! I love The Talisman and Blackhouse, so I figured I'd love his solo work as well, but that one was boring, convoluted, and wholly unsatisfying in its conclusion imho. It kept on playing up this mystery and this event that takes place at the end and is central to everything that happens throughout the entire book, but when it got to the big reveal, there was just a convoluted mess that killed any intriuge that might have been there! Maybe I just didn't understand the ending,🤷♂️ but if the mystery is the whole point of the book, then you have to be able to present a reveal in a way that the reader can grasp at some level or another!😤 Matter is part of a larger series, which I did not know when I read it. (Totally a cover buy🤣) I've never read any of the other books in the series, (probably because I disliked this one so much😂) so it's possible that I would have enjoyed it more if I knew some of the characters and universe better from the other books, but I just could not connect with the plot or characters in any way. I forced myself to finish it and enjoyed none of my time with it.😅 It had some neat concepts, I just felt like they were terribly executed. I still own it though btw.🤣 It's just sitting in the back row on the bottom shelf of my bookcase collecting dust!🤣
Haha I understand about Girl from the Other Side 🤣 not the best manga but yeah wouldn’t say it’s the worst I did read it all the way through after all! Well only 3 novels isn’t too bad either though it’s still a shame especially when you take the time to read it all and it never gets any better 😅 and ofc you spend money on it too which is like adding salt in the wound lol
I am 15 min in and you had 2 that I am interested because of cover and blurb...turn out to be bad 🙀 . The snake that loved sparow.....sorry but I found it just somewhat ok. Like the story was missing elements or pages.🙈 . . . It is sooo sad that books are so expensive that it turns out it is better to read online befor one collects it. But I love holding and reading a printed version 😭 It is sad. Yeah yeah to sell them is an option but do you always menage that or you end up unhaul it or gift to library....like paying books but for someone else...that also gets me mad sometimes 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Well, it’s only my opinion! You may still enjoy them they just weren’t for me 😅 Yeah, I mean not every recommendation was the best read, but I still thought it was cute and enjoyed it better than the other one lol 😂 But, I agree! It’s so hard when books are so expensive and then you end up not enjoying them…😩 I agree that I rather read them physically but sometimes it’s nice to check them out digitally first saves me a bit of money lol
@@MizzMangaChatz I just tried that oneshot Lethl Dose of Love. Good story. Really. But find HEA part rushed. If it was a bigger volume or 2 short ones would be better. . . . I don't like e-books but I downloaded bunch at it SAVES MONEY. Like the new romantay The Nord Wind is in a bookshop and on booktube but I gave 2✨️.
Hmm🤔 I'm not sure if you were totally clear on that last one. I almost got the impression you didn't like it or something...🤣 Anyways, only running into two series all year that were just not it for you isn't too shaby!
Hahaha 😂 yeah, I wasn’t a huge fan of that one…and yeah pretty good I’d agree! I also am pretty easy to please manga wise I find most of them at least enjoyable lol
A couple of editing notes, I’m nerodiverse so I often speed up videos as most ppl talk a little to slow for my brain to process (something many of us do). Something you might want to keep in mind with music selection, as it was very intense in this video lol. Made it a little hard to focus on what you were saying . Thank you.
I know everyone “loves” The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom and no one has a problem with her doing a spinal tap in ANCIENT CHINA, advanced medical procedures in ANCIENT CHINA. I can’t.
Junji Ito's No Longer Human was by far, the worst manga I ever read. The way the character's life just getting worse just felt comical. Like oh, of COURSE this hourse burns down. He was an awful person and I'm supposed to feel bad?? Then at the end he talks it out with some dude and he's like I feel better now 😊 and then Junji Ito had to give it a Junji Ito ending. @MizzMangaChatz Haha another example of Junji Ito adding his own twist ending 😂 I at least enjoyed 80% of that volume. It did motivate me to read the original Frankenstein novel (with your help too of course lol) so that volume did something right. I haven't read Soichi yet, I know you had your own problems with that one and I'm going to habe the same problem too.
@ haha well if you enjoyed the twist ending I’m happy for you and yeah at least it inspired you to read the original lol Yeah, Soichi was more I was confused why they organized the short story collection the way they did, but the stories themselves were mostly a good time 😄
@@MizzMangaChatz No I didn't enjoy the twist ending at all!! 🤣 That's why I read the original novel. Yeah I already read a Junji Ito collection with a Soichi story (that came out BEFORE the Soichi volume) and it felt like the final chapters of his story? Super weird. Maybe I'll get around to it next Halloween lol.
