so true !- most people can't control their response to negativity. Response is a habit that we can choose for ourselves, how do we wish to respond - how do we want to feel.
+Jeffrey Deppa Not surprised, I'm sure most of them are actually like that, cost of living is high and employers/peers pressure you to buy dumb shit that you dont need to look like youre rich and it keeps you living paycheck to paycheck
I'd rather be a beggar homeless in NYC while saving money from the alms I get. There are food banks and feeding organizations for the homeless. Sometimes they take the homeless to the shelter when it snows or rainy. Free bathroom. You don't have to rent at all while saving money lol
Well for some, the life style of living in a big city is worth the cost. One thing this video doesn't talk about. The value you place in your environment is a big deal. Same thing is true with family. I like most 30yo's have a GF and a child. In no way would we live in some poverish country. It doesn't work when raising a family. Same goes for living in some small country town somewhere in the midwest. Sure you can have a good job, make a bunch of money and live in a nice house. But again you are hours away from any major city. I myself am an hour away from Chicago, but I have no desire to move in that direction. I'd tell you right now. Making only 30k and living in some poor county. Its not a live style most people want. But for someone that wants to run away from the real world, and avoid the normal "Family Life". Go for it
This concept also applies to telecommuting. When you can take your job with you, your life can be much better. I moved my family from a more expensive city in southern California (where we could barely afford rent) to a much less expensive city in northern California and we were able to keep our income. Now we own two properties, two cars and have a nice life. Take the bus to your rental apartment and worry about groceries, or drive one of your cars to the two-story house you own with a fully stocked fridge and pantry? Make your kids share a bedroom, or own a place big enough that they each get their own room AND they have a play room for all of their toys? Hope your old phone lasts until you get your free upgrade, or buy a new phone whenever you need one? Life can be good...if you know how to live it.

another great video! thank you FightMediocrity. Because of your video I started to read books. I already bought 8 books since December and 7 of them were all animated in your channel. “For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. Waiting for a good time to quit your job? The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn't conspire against you, but it doesn't go out of its way to line up the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. "Someday" is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it's important to you and you want to do it "eventually," just do it and correct course along the way.” ― Timothy Ferriss, The 4-Hour Workweek. Thank you for the really great summary :)
Well said! I also learned to be truly HAPPY and not feel like I never had enough, chasing things that don't bring happiness thanks to the principles in this book. I know people who earn far more than I do and I feel like I'm wealthier than them because I have what I need and no debt. The book's a little dated, but it's still good. And I LOVE Tim Ferriss's podcasts. His guests are so good!

Every single time, I pick a book to read, I check this channel beforehand. Videos are consice and yet very informative and reviews are very unbiased. This also saves me a lot of time. Thank you mate. Keep up the good job.
Don't be a slave to others, instead, be the slaver. That sounded offensive didn't it? Probably because it's accurate of what this mentality teaches. "Pay him 5% of the revenue earned from the video, he does 10/11 hours of the work." The ethics of capitalism in one statement.
kenhimurabr Just because you are complacent with a system (capitalism) and accept the way it functions, doesn't make it good. Slaves were purchased at a flat rate then profited off of. Modern day employees are paid a fraction of the money they generate for the companies that they work for (or that own them). Really capitalism in a nutshell is exploitation on a grand scheme. Most employees work the conditions that their employers enforce on them, rather than have much agency in what they do and how they do it. The abundance of workers in most fields essentially guarantees that people will perpetually be underpaid and taken advantage of. But you are correct, people should be profited off of, because they don't deserve the fruits of their own labor. The owner of their company needs all of that money to purchase additional sports cars and mansions. I do recognize that there are companies founded on hard work that heavily reward their employees, but they are quite rare and typically small.
Pure gold! I average a 2-3 hour work week, live in my camper van, and am richer than the majority (I am actually LIVING life). Free time, money and real experiences are what makes me wealthy. Thanks for sharing! Subbed!
not necessarily, someone who is a specialist can usually do things a lot quicker a lot cheaper... it there is a guy who buys a big ass lawnmower, he can cut your grass in 5 min. If you and the neighbours pay him $20 each he turns over $240 per hour....
FightMediocrity My mistake. In fact I watched it already but I didn't remember. You have a great channel here. Hope you can scale this up fast. I don't take more of your time. Take care. PS: I watched all your TH-cam videos ;)
Hey thank you for giving me more clarity on this video. I saw this book and im currently waiting for Amazon to deliver it. I've read a few pages from samples and its really interesting but after watching your video it has provided the open mindset needed to read this book
This video is amazing I can relate to so much of it lol took me a year to learn about SEO and TH-cam Keywords and the 80/20 principles and all the stuff you talked about. I have made many channels but now am starting over in the Music nitch.
I...had to learn majority of this the hard way... my original TH-cam channel was a huge failure... although this current channel is still new and I'm working on putting out new original content, it takes a lot of time and hard work (mostly research). However, I did learn a lot from all that research, and as a result I'll be able to make content a lot faster in the future. This video was very well done and I still learned something new. :3
Ive been reading this book for a while and MAN YOU ARE JUST SENSATIONAL NEVER STOP MAKING THESE VIDEOS HOLY HELL! Wish someday to be delivering this much content/help on mines. Thanks!
Read the book a long time ago. But stopped, when it said, if I don't do action, I should stop reading the book. Why did I stop? Because I didn't had anything to do. But now, since I started TH-cam, I want to find it at my home, so I can read the whole book again. I really like the way of thinking of Tim Ferris.
If you gave up your business and went back to the 9-5 why bother even starting one? No offense, but if that’s your mindset, you’ll never get to where you wanna be.. What are you good at and what are you passionate about doing in your workplace that you wish to take to the next level?
oh man, if I could have a dollar for every time I've heard someone say "Oh the 4HWW, that's so stupid. How could anyone work 4 hours a week." And I'd try to explain the concepts. But then I gave up. If someone wants to judge a book by a title then why should I care? But FightMediocrity has done such a great job at summerizing the book whilst taking care to not to get too hypey, you've just got to watch it. Love the cartoony style - this style is his business which he uses as an example when explaining concepts in the book.
+Rob Cubbon Well put! I agree. Tim Ferriss is sneaky smart; he has these arching ideas & themes that he doesn't spell out quickly or easily. He and Tony Robbins make you work for the info!
Absolutely Loved it! Recently Felt like Quitting on TH-cam. I gotta keep reminding myself that I need that grind, gotta fell forward so that I can push myself up again
The content and presentation are both excellent. I learned a great deal in just nine minutes. Outsourcing enables one to work fewer hours and live a free and productive life.
Imagine being the guy that put 1000s (maybe even 10,000+) of hours into building an online presence and taking on all of the risk, stress, overhead, early onset criticism, and more, only for a college kid to be pissed he got paid $50+/hr to draw some cartoons for a guy doing all the other work.
This is mainly software, and I think he mentioned before that he does his own editing to make sure it is how he wants. But this is golden dvice and helps everyone at a price they can live sustainably on without farming
Really, so to become financially independent all I have to do is start a successful business? WOW, I've never thought of that. And finding way to not do the work my self and not have to work hard my self is definitely the way to start a successful, lasting business. Thanks GUY...
The 4-Hour work week principles really work. I've been slowly getting to this for years and now I'm there. Phase II is doing things like youtube videos to start generating passive income! Mine aren't to this quality yet but I'll get there. Thanks for this video!!
Thanks for making these videos. I'm not an avid book reader but watching your active videos of these books short and sweet straight to the point! I subscribed to your channel!! Thanks!
This was an awesome breakdown man. I read the book a couple years back and it did seem too good to be true. It was really cool to see the visual breakdown of the key messages of the book! Thanks for posting this!
I absolutely love this channel, analogies and references are always on point, I've read a couple of the books you've suggested and they've had a huge impact on my life, i'd love to see more financial related videos /books since it's a topic I'm a bit alien about, thank you so much :D
People who tell me that I can't do it, I just turn that into a challenge and a form of motivation. Yes, most people won't be able to do have what it takes to do this, but after endless sleepless nights I finally find myself getting to places where even just under a year ago I never knew I could! I guess if someone really wants something, they will do whatever they can in their power to acquire it.
I would love it bro, I know many people are skeptical at first, but that's because they don't know much about it. I love the fact that you're very good at making complex concepts and break them down into simple analogies that can be understood. I think if you can pull it off with the introduction towards making money online i will think it's going be a huge success towards expanding your channel to different audiences.
Brok Homz Oooh, that's who people keep talking about that weird commercial guy. I always just thought it was full of crap when he would come on commercial. So, I never bothered to remember his name. But somehow I remember the first 5 Seconds of the commercial.
The TH-cam-channel "The Swedish Investor" did a book review of the same book. His book review is much better to be honest. Strange that this review has many more views. But the world is full of mysteries I guess.
I agree in that that video does a much better job of summarizing the book, whereas this vid is mainly just rambling, but I still don't think that the actual contents of the book are all that valuable. The idea is certainly intriguing, but there are a lot more details that have to be dealt with in order to make this a reality. I think that most people need an actionable guide on how to do this, instead of a blueprint.
I'm a prime example, I'm 40yrs old and I have CFS/ME. I can't work a ft job. I can barely hold a PT. I'm forced to go into entrepreneurship. I can say how I'd wish I'd followed these rules and techniques in the beginning, but now I have to move forward and be a voice to those who will end up like me. don't wait to be forced into entrepreneurship, do the right thing now, disability pays peanuts
Lori Favela "Forced to be an entrepreneur" such a joke. You won't be an entrepreneur working less than full time. This book is a joke in general unless you have a successful business and can afford to take losses.
So, basically, it's about eliminating unnecessary cost and waste so that your money and your time are "worth" more in the end? A bit like a business who would only have online retailling, no shop and only contractors, no employees?
Michiel van der Blonk Very few people really want to leave their home country permanently. Most people don't even move far from their home towns. After age 30 or so, you tend to either live close to where your family lives, or close to where your spouses family lives, if those aren't the same place.
Your debt is only in dollars if you are amassing Dollar Debt.If you are living, for instance, in Mexico... but doing TH-cam Productions, you can very well get paid in Dollars and have Peso Debt. Also, obviously, there are places in the US that are less expensive than others. Pine Apple, Alabama Debt and Rodeo Drive, California Debt are vastly different. Hence his New York example. If you can do the same thing, for the same Income... but do it in a Less Expensive Place, you just Increased your Profit.Seriously, it's not a difficult concept, yet you wail against it like a stubborn child. Why?
Which is why he says this isn't for everyone. If you want a '4 Hour Work Week' then obviously some where along the way, sacrifices must be made. The same as if you want a Ph.D. You had to move some where and invest time for that, right? He also pointed this out in the beginning. But I'll add, you don't have to leave the US. You can move some place less expensive, even in the Same State. Any Cost you minimize turns into Additional Profit, which in turn means you require Less Time Investment for an Equal Return. The key to it all is having a Mobile Product, something you can produce and sell from 'anywhere'.
True. Which is why he leads the video with this not being for everyone. But let's go the other direction. Let's say you suddenly decide you want to be a Brain Surgeon. I mean, the pay is going to be killer and you get to golf like it's a second profession. You'll be RICH!Of course, you have to sacrifice. You have to move to a Medical School, pass the Exams, invest the time. Then move again to a place close to a Hospital you want to be a Brain Surgeon for.Of course, you can stay where you are doing what you currently do instead. If you are content with where you are and what you are doing, then why change? Being content has an extreme value. If you are not content... then you may well look into changes.
Step 1. Move to Mexico Step 2. Start another shit TH-cam channel. Step 3. Exploite real talent, 'outsource' your content. Step 4. Wait a few years. Step 5. Profit.
I used to work 14 hours a day with an hour break. 6 days a week or sometimes in high season I'll go a full month without a day off...was it worth it? hell yeah!!
Draw cartoons, talk abstractly, throw around numbers larger than the schmos who came here make ... viola. A sucker is born. By my book. I am fart smeller ... I meant smart feller!
Be a sucker to begin with, don't educate yourself about things, don't even attempt to make sense of what you watch... and voila! A commenter is born. Please like my comment. [unrelated retarded joke here]
I see how little you've done your research. It's good to take things with a grain of salt, but to dismiss something with value and mock it is the epitome of ignorance.
Okay, I get it. But I don't get one thing - how can you give 5 % of everything you earned to the kid that did most of your job without your heart breaking? I could NEVER do that! It's so NOT fair! You're basically using other people for your own benefits. If I was doing that, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. It's so sad that people nowadays think only about themselves and are willing to use other people who have it at their worst so they can be 'rich'. Are you really rich if at the end of the day you weren't true to yourself? Please, tell me I got this wrong...😯
He says he could, in theory... But he may find that the high schooler's work would be sub par and have to pay more to find good talent.. Or he may find it far superior to his own and the kid launch a "carreer" from it. Also consider the kid probably has no bills or overhead and is risking nothing by doing the animation, so he could be satisfied with the pay. So I don't see as much of a problem with that situation. I do however hate when people talk about workers in third world countries making less than 2 dollars a day, and claim that is a lot of money in their country, because it is not.. They often have to miss meals. That 2 dollars a day can be for over 10 hours of hard work. Nike shoes for example pay their workers in Vietnam less than the cost of three meals. They are treated worse than slaves in some cases. People need to know about it
You clearly haven't watched his video on Mans search for meaning. That book is literally just him talking about himself. I thought it was the only video he used to do that, but it is actually in every video of his
Thank goodness! I am one of those people who is better at managing stress from spills and cars not working than most. Wouldn't always feel happy about it, but not falling apart. And sometimes I'd be happy anyway. Also, I am so glad it is that simple. I figured out that I've been researching it enough that I can already see how it could be applied!!
I love you logic and outline. Finally someone who speaks of response control. I did make it work for about 6 months when I downsized my life. It takes sacrifice and having value in the trade offs and desiring to have new experiences.

so true !- most people can't control their response to negativity. Response is a habit that we can choose for ourselves, how do we wish to respond - how do we want to feel.

I know people in NYC making 6 figs in NYC with literally no savings
+Jeffrey Deppa in what do they work for
+Jeffrey Deppa Not surprised, I'm sure most of them are actually like that, cost of living is high and employers/peers pressure you to buy dumb shit that you dont need to look like youre rich and it keeps you living paycheck to paycheck
I'd rather be a beggar homeless in NYC while saving money from the alms I get. There are food banks and feeding organizations for the homeless. Sometimes they take the homeless to the shelter when it snows or rainy. Free bathroom. You don't have to rent at all while saving money lol
@@andypejman Nailed it on the peg.

There is a sizable audience for that. The content of what you have laid out here has kick started me on both planes. Yes, I've been a senior citizen for 3 years but I'm not done yet. Thank you for this encouraging 9 minutes. I will also subscribe through my business account.

another great video! thank you FightMediocrity. Because of your video I started to read books. I already bought 8 books since December and 7 of them were all animated in your channel. Your videos really inspired me to read and understand a lot more. I'm gonna grab this book after reading the 3 new books I bought yesterday. I'm just very grateful. Great job! Keep it up.
If it's important to you and you want to do it "eventually," just do it and correct course along the way.”
― Timothy Ferriss, The 4-Hour Workweek.
Good video, thanks!

By watching this video I've learn almost everything in the book. thanks.
Every single time, I pick a book to read, I check this channel beforehand. Videos are consice and yet very informative and reviews are very unbiased. This also saves me a lot of time. Thank you mate. Keep up the good job.
I love this video. I saw it when I was about 15 years old and now I am 18 and now it maks more sense and has helped me a lot in my life. Thank you
Don't be a slave to others, instead, be the slaver.
That sounded offensive didn't it? Probably because it's accurate of what this mentality teaches.
"Pay him 5% of the revenue earned from the video, he does 10/11 hours of the work."
The ethics of capitalism in one statement.
D. Stash Yeah, I was thinking the same thing :( I would pay him 40% or 30% of the revenue. The animation is an important part of the... animation.
And since when is wrong or ethically bad to pay what someone's asking for a job and gross heavily on it?
kenhimurabr Just because you are complacent with a system (capitalism) and accept the way it functions, doesn't make it good.
Ok, let's assume you're right to shorten this debate. What would be a succesful system to replace capitalism, maintaining all the former virtues?

Wow! What a fantastic find today! Absolutely loved your video and really like your approach to Tim Ferris' book. Excited to watch more from you.
Thankyou for this video. I love 4 hour work week and it was frustrating how I couldn't seem to achieve what Tim was saying quickly enuf.
All boils down to exploiting cheap labor (outsourcing).
Yep, though human labor rates are rising (relatively). So we'll need to find cheaper ways still, and that's where technology comes in.
not necessarily, someone who is a specialist can usually do things a lot quicker a lot cheaper... it there is a guy who buys a big ass lawnmower, he can cut your grass in 5 min. If you and the neighbours pay him $20 each he turns over $240 per hour....
Robot lawnmowers! ;)

This video is amazing I can relate to so much of it lol took me a year to learn about SEO and TH-cam Keywords and the 80/20 principles and all the stuff you talked about. I have made many channels but now am starting over in the Music nitch.
Thanks for breaking down that book like this... been putting reading it off for years !!!
Thank you for creating this! I've started to read the book and am working on some of these paradigm shifts.
Ive been reading this book for a while and MAN YOU ARE JUST SENSATIONAL NEVER STOP MAKING THESE VIDEOS HOLY HELL!

Read the book a long time ago. But stopped, when it said, if I don't do action, I should stop reading the book. Why did I stop? Because I didn't had anything to do. But now, since I started TH-cam, I want to find it at my home, so I can read the whole book again. I really like the way of thinking of Tim Ferris.
i quit my 95 job, i start my own business, it lasts 3 years and then I back to my 95 job, life is not easy
If you gave up your business and went back to the 9-5 why bother even starting one? No offense, but if that’s your mindset, you’ll never get to where you wanna be..
What are you good at and what are you passionate about doing in your workplace that you wish to take to the next level?
Time is the most valuable thing.. and outsourcing teaching you to respect that. Thanks man your videos are truly inspirational.
oh man, if I could have a dollar for every time I've heard someone say "Oh the 4HWW, that's so stupid.
Yeah I've subscribed to that guy's channel :)
Awesome! Thanks for posting this!
+Rob Cubbon Well put! I agree. Tim Ferriss is sneaky smart; he has these arching ideas & themes that he doesn't spell out quickly or easily. He and Tony Robbins make you work for the info!

imagine being the guys doing the animation and figuring out you re only getting 5% while putting in most of the work
you do know there are apps that does this right?
Imagine being the guy that put 1000s (maybe even 10,000+) of hours into building an online presence and taking on all of the risk, stress, overhead, early onset criticism, and more, only for a college kid to be pissed he got paid $50+/hr to draw some cartoons for a guy doing all the other work.
This is mainly software, and I think he mentioned before that he does his own editing to make sure it is how he wants. But this is golden dvice and helps everyone at a price they can live sustainably on without farming

Matt That's what's up! Good to hear from you Matt.
Outsourcing was the biggest takeaway for me from this book and has really helped me to maximise my time and focus on bigger things.
I'm in the journey of online marketing myself! Can you please make a video on how to make money online? :)

Not so sure how many people are interested in this though.

Amazing summary, well done explaining. Thanks!
You are delusional if you think being an entrepreneur means you work less. It's more like work weeks greater than 50
Not necessarily once you know what you are doing.
kindlemoneysuccess.com
Lori Favela "Forced to be an entrepreneur" such a joke. You won't be an entrepreneur working less than full time. This book is a joke in general unless you have a successful business and can afford to take losses.
Someone is mad that they didn't understand the book lol maybe read it again if you even read it in the first place and not only watched this video -_-
So, basically, it's about eliminating unnecessary cost and waste so that your money and your time are "worth" more in the end? A bit like a business who would only have online retailling, no shop and only contractors, no employees?
drop ship
You have a great channel, man. Learning a lot from these videos. Thank you.
I appreciate what you do. you truly add value to the world.
Good review of the book and a fine breakdown of its concepts. However, this is also a good overview of how f'd up capitalism is.
Fatal flaws. First, don't want to live in those other places. Second, your debt is still in dollars.
Some people do want to live in those other places. That's not for everyone.
Step 1. Move to Mexico
Step 2. Start another shit TH-cam channel.
Step 3. Exploite real talent, 'outsource' your content.
Step 4. Wait a few years.
Step 5. Profit.
Nice video I read the book a few months ago and it really changed a lot in my life... Have a nice day.
Awesome video. I am already on this path and it is achievable.
80 hours a week.. That is allmost 11.5 hours a day including weekends... How realistic
I used to work 14 hours a day with an hour break. 6 days a week or sometimes in high season I'll go a full month without a day off...was it worth it? hell yeah!!
very realistic. i once had my own business and worked 8-12 hours a day, seven days a week for a few years.
8-12 is not the same as 11.5 on average

There is truth to that too. If you are investing, you have to be ahead of the markets to bring good returns to your customers.

That's how all businesses work buddy, wake up and smell the greediness.
Yeah. He said don't want to be slave for others... but he make slave TO other people. Ironic.
People need to know about it
Pay attention to your job now. Your boss is making more money than you... it's no different.
that's capitalism my boy, the conflict between the worker's wage, and the capitalist's profit.
