I remember on my very first Mc Donald's visit in 1984 (I was about seven years old), right at the time Chicken Mc Nuggets were introduced in Germany. A product-sensation, because Mc Do was only known for Burger and fries until then. There was a big TV in the McDo restaurant showing a film with a group of puppets preparing Chicken Mc Nuggets in their kitchen. My god, so long ago... 🥲

We are a Chick fil-a family! Though with a large family it is too expensive to get fast food 😅and a big treat.

I'd be curious to see what Chinese restaurants are like in Germany. Hoping they'll do a video on that.

We have many "Chinese Restaurants" in the UK and I was with an international group of people years ago in Brussels. We wandered the back streets and found a "Chinese Restaurant" and the decor, the menu, the presentation were all the same as in our own respective countries - Canada, UK and Austria. The food was mostly similar, but definitely the same sort of thing and really delicious!
It was a fun evening, and VERY disorientating, as everything was so familiar yet different...

Vegetable cakes are definitely a thing in Germany. It's not just about what you can buy in shops. Zucchini cake is good too. There are also regional variations of potato cake.

wow you guys handle spiciness well! I was inspired by you to try a big tasty bacon and gave up trying to eat it in the car, lettuce bits falling out everywhere. So I took it home and cut it in half and put it in the oven (without the lettuce bits) with fresh tomatoes and it was a meal for two. The spicy nuggets are awesome but with the spicy sauce I was really shocked at how spicy that combo is. I also had my first ever McRib and wow that hickory bbq sauce makes it! Happy to see it won't go away, like those spicy nuggest are bound to do.

The city I live in here in Germany has a "drive-in" (as we call it here) bakery. You can order bread or cake or whatever they have on their menue and than get it right to the window of your car. I never saw this before moving here and funny enough this bakery seems to be a chain in my area who has 2 drive-in places besides 2 normal bakery in my city. IDK how many drive-in they have in total but this chain has about 50 bakery in a 20 kilometer radius of me

I work the evenings as a cna if I don’t eat dinner during my shift, I usually get a jalapeño cheddar pretzel from Wawa with lemon tea, or a cheeseburger meal from McDonald’s on the way home. Family time is Popeyes or IHOP once a month

You know what I like is the Jimmy Johns subs drive thru and the Little Caesar Pizza drive thru. Because you can order a whole big meal, or several, that will last you days, and it only takes in seconds to pick up. It is so easy.

Love it “for German standards, this is spicy” 😂 my son always complained that there was no spicy in Germany. Things said spicy, but to a Kid who lived half his life in New Mexico, it was not. I would collect salsa packets and hot sauce packets from random fast food places, then send them to him in my care packages along with small containers of hot green chile.

McDonald's in the US doesn't sell anything like that big tasty burger. Looks like something from Carl's Jr. (AKA Hardee's) Fun fact: ranch dressing used to be called buttermilk dressing a long time ago. Ask your grandma.

i find the McD gives out the number of sauces depends on the size of the order but if i ask for one extra it will be given to me but if i order an extra they will charge for that (that makes no sense to me)

Wow! The burgers in Germany Maccas are much bigger than here in Australia. Does the US or Germany have McCafe? That supposedly started in Australia. A bit like having Starbucks (with better coffee) inside a Maccas. 😅 We don't have Burger King, although I do remember some stores around when I was growing up. BK became Hungry Jacks here. It's still thought of as a poor cousin to Maccas but the burgers look a lot nicer than the BK ones in your video. My husband and I prefer Hungry Jacks to Maccas but our nearest store is an hour's drive away. That's probably a good thing! 😁

We don't have a lot of those McDonalds items in the US. We are, however, getting the McRib back on October 31, 2022. They say it is the farewell tour and will never return. I don't know if I believe that but I might get a few to freeze. Haha! Thanks for the video!

Give my age away, the big and tasty is an off shoot of the MCDLT which was a late 80s Gimmick (gimmicks were popular in the 80s).
You got a long Styrofoam case that had two sanwich holders. O e held the upper portion of the burger bun lettuce tomatoes onions, the other held the lower half cheese burger patty and lower bun.
The concept was that the package kept the cold side cold and the hot side hot and you the customer completed the process when you put the two together.
Not too long after Mc Donald's did away with Styrofoam so the MCDLT eventually became the BIG N' TASTY
Its pronounced MC as in McDonalds
    Mc DLT MCDLT.

I've lived in America for over 40 years, and I've used the drive-thru only when I had to - a couple of times during the pandemic because that was the only option. Ordering from the car definitely makes me jumpy and uncomfortable. Besides, you never know when David Letterman may decide to come out of retirement and do a drive-thru shift at the restaurant I visit. Eating a full fast food meal in the car? I'm just as unwilling to do that except for the fries because they are not as messy. Why would I want to make my hard-earned vehicle a pigsty?

  • @mikeinportland30

I'm glad the Starbucks drive thru was a long wait, forkless dud. Here in the US Starbucks seems to want to encourage drive thru rather than dine in by prioritizing the drive thru patrons (with obnoxious timer screens to measure drive thru waits while for walk ins they don't care) and all the idling car exhaust and general message of car promotion it sends. Hopefully our drive thru "culture" (anti-culture?) is not exported.

Not a fan of Starbucks....coffee tastes bitter, and they have to mask the taste with other flavors. I like my coffee black with a tiny bit of sugar, so Starbucks is a big no. Their food is pretty decent tho.

Agree on so many levels! Starbucks coffee always tastes burnt to me 🤨

Funny, I think the opposite - like the coffee but the food is mediocre. Might be the American locations are different.

Starbucks coffee is good if you like a lot of milk and sugar in it, like me.

I would never buy coffee at Starbucks. Is not the best coffee and extremly expensive.

The first Mc Drive for Augsburg, 1988 in Königsbrunn. they had the best McChicken sandwich, a version that's no longer served. A crispy patty served on an artesian wheat bun with green lettuce and mayo.
