    Hi! I really hope you or anyone else may be able to help. Just found your channel while trying to figure out which lens to get for my first Fujifilm XH2. I'd love to use it for filming. So far I've been using Canon Rebel + Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, which is great both for filming and product photography, with a lovely soft quality and bokeh. I want to upgrade my equipment and make my videos more cinematic. Your video was very helpful, now I know more about different lens for Fuji, but I'm still having the hardest time deciding which lens to choose to start with, any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you :)

    Great video! I’m currently using the xf 18-120mm f4 and the xf 23mm f1.4 mk2; I also have the Voigtlander 23mm f1.2 for personal photos. Even with the Fujinon glass I manual focus around 90% of the time, the focus by wire isn’t the best but it’s just fine for product photography for me.
    I’m really heavily considering the Viltrox 13mm as I need something wider to use in my tight studio at times…

    Thanks for the insights! I decided to go with a Fringer setup and stick with that sweet, sweet Sigma glass: 18-35mm f/1.8 Art and the 24-70mm f/2.8 Art. Heavy, but very, very pretty glass. I also have a 33mm f/1.4 Viltrox AF, which I desperately love for my X-H2S. Considering the 7Artisans just for the character of it.

    Very nice short gear talk. And I really love your new space! About glass I use: on the #cine_x_one (x-h2s rigged up) mainly the Fujinon XF18-120. It's the best 'cheap cine lens' fuji offers right now. Second are my three Canon vintage fd lenses 24, 35, 50 SSC. Third a SIRUI native x-mount anamorphic lens. And on the cine_gfx (gfx100s rigged up) only the GF20-35 for my ongoing project 'Multi-Exposures in an Urban Environment'.

    How did you solve third-party lenses not adhering to the autofocus speed and locking settings? Whenever I try third party lenses (which, admittedly, only have been five so far by Viltrox, Sigma, and Tamron) I don't like their snapping autofocus behavior. With native Fuji glass, I can dial in my settings to be a slower focus-pull and not immediately focus on the subject crossing my view in the foreground, but stay on the previously tracked object. This has been an issue with both my X-T3, an X-T4, and an X-H2s. Every time I use third-party glass I try it out again, but quickly revert back to manually focussing as that gives me what I actually want. That, or I use something like the 18-55mm; often, I need the light that an f1.4 third-party lens offers though, as I shoot a lot of BtS.

    I am still not sure about the viltrox 13mm...there is a massive shaking in the corners in your clips. I own the 23mm, 33mm, 56mm and the 85mm. So I am actually an viltrox Fan 😊

      That's normal. It's still pretty hard for most manufacturers to get it right. IBIS was never meant to be a video feature anyway.

    • @CineDailies
      @CineDailies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol That's not the lens, it's the IBIS in camera. that's because I forgot to turn off the IBIS in camera. I hate using IBIS but i want going to record that part again ha

    • @clausstahl5166
      @clausstahl5166 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it's the IBIS but my hope was that the shaking with the xh2s and the 13mm is better because of the new sensor. I have the xh2s and the fuji 10-24mm and have the impression it works better. Mmhh

      @@clausstahl5166 Fuji has never been good at wide angle IBIS. In fact, an adapted Canon EF-S 10-18mm OIS has better stabilization than using a native 10-24mm. Weird right.

    The only thing I hate about the 13mm f1.4 is those spot flares it creates at night. They’re soo weird. I would rather have a normal flare. I guess it does help in photography, because it’s easy to remove, but for video, I hate it.
    BTW I’m not sure what is the difference between the focus ring of the Viltrox and the Fujinon that one feels premium and the other feels cheap, considering they both focus by wire?

  • @MichaelZi
    @MichaelZi ปีที่แล้ว

    I got 16-55 f 2.8 and its a great piece of glass,after the firmware update when finally its possible to make dolly zoom without exposure stepping (or way less visible stepping) i discovered another issue and i dont know it is normal or something goes wrong.When i am taking the shot and moving forwad and decreasing focal lenght or moving backward and zooming in there is no smooth transition in the frame and i dont know why it happend? Im wondering maybe IBIS causes that weird effect but after disabling it issue still remains.I am using focus servo motor on my Weebill 2 so its not caused by user error and unsmooth rotating of zoom ring,also when i am zoomin in/out without te moving camera forward backward smoothness is great.

    I was always underwhelmed with the fuji 16-55. It didn't have a lot of personality and I always felt uninspired by the image when I shot with it. I do think people sleep on the fuji 90 f2 (probably one of my favorites) and the new 33mm is fantastic.
