CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Denys (Robert Redford) takes Karen (Meryl Streep) on a plane ride over Africa.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Out of Africa is drawn from the life and writings of Danish author Isak Dinesen, who during the time that the film's events occured was known by her married name, Karen Blixen-Flecke. For convenience's sake, Karen (Meryl Streep) has married Baron Bor Blixen-Flecke (Klaus Maria Brandauer). In 1914, the Baron moves himself and his wife to a plantation in Nairobi, then leaves Karen to her own devices as he returns to his womanizing and drinking. Soon, Karen has fallen in love with charming white hunter Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford), who prefers a no-strings relationship. A woman who prides herself on her independence, Blixen finds herself unhappily in thrall to a aloof man -- and doubly unhappy for living out such a cliché situation. Although Redford received a lion's share of criticism for his too-American performance, Streep has rarely been better, and the film's perfectly measured pace is offset by David Watkin's stunning location photography. The movie was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won 7, including Best Picture, Best Director for Sydney Pollack, Best Adapted Screenplay for Kurt Luedtke, and Best Cinematography for Watkin.

John Barry wrote, produced and directed the beautiful musical soundtrack! Love it! 😘😘💞🎶🎶
This score is so beautiful. One of my favorites.
Still breathtaking after all these years!!
Best scene of the movie. The gorgeous music dips and soars about them as does the land beneath them. It puts a voice to feelings that have no words.
Yes
God, that was well expressed!
This is excellent. Many years ago, I lived in this part of Kenya where they were filming this movie and I remember seeing this plane fly ove my house several times.
This movie got me through a very dark period of my life back in 1993. I watched it, over and over. i still enjoy watching it today without that dark period being present. The soundtrack is just incredible. Pollack will be so missed. Incredible director.
I have always loved flying the old planes they are so different than modern planes, they are what real flying is about!!!
I love films that transport me to another place and time like this one did. Beautiful soundtrack too.
I saw Out Of Africa for the first time on June 10,1986, one wk. to the day of my Husband's untimely drowning death at the age of 26. My Aunt thought a movie would cheer me up. It didn't. I felt numb, however I saw it again a year later and was overwhelmed with emotion, this is my favorite movie of ALL TIME! It has the BIG 3, Beautiful story,Beautiful Scenery,Beautiful Soundtrack! Sidney Pollack was at his Creative Peak with this film! Thank You Sidney Pollack,John Barry-music composition, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep. TIMELESS FILM!
I really feel for you. I appreciate that you speak open here about your emotions and feelings. I estimate them and consider such authentic sincere words being something special in our days. Let me give you a biiig hug in mind. And as far as I understood may God most gracious most merciful dedicate a special place in heaven to your husband.
Tarek Al-Hakim Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. You are a kind Person!
+Barbara Bowman-Fuller I am glad that I did not fail to express a very serious matter in an appropriate way. God bless you and your husband's soul.
Tarek Al-Hakim God Bless and Keep you as well.
Thank you so much☺
This is "Karen's" Song..it's also Mozart!
I am Karen..and i love it!!
I loved this movie!
My favourite parts of Kenya. Wouldn't fly so close to Longonot though...Did my PPL flying exam next to Lake Naivasha, the one with all the flamingo's..Lanet Airfield Nakuru.
to me...this clip, with the visuals and Barry's music is what it means to love,,,,
My favorite scene in this great film. The music touched my soul and heart.
Hello, Am Ben a tour operator in Kenya, the waterfall is Karuru falls in Aberdares National Park and the crater is Mt Longonot Crater. You can summit Mt Longonot in a few hours and even circle the crater.. all these locations are amazing.. simply out of Africa
The most beautiful part of this movie! So moving, no dialogue needed! One of my favorite movies!
This scene is the most moving and inspirational depictions of the beauty and romance of flight ever put on film. The cinematography, the music score, the use of Finch-Hatton's actual aircraft, the rich land and its teeming animals combine to move the heart. It reminded me of why I struggled and learned to fly at 18 years old.
One of greatest films I ever watched. I remember I was in Auckland when the film shown and we had to wait several nights before finally got the tickets,
To all the people who dislike the music from this superior movie. You don't matter. Period!
Are you kidding?... My Lord - JOHN BARRY's score for OUT OF AFRICA is some of the most beautiful film music EVER written. Geeeezzzz!!!!
This is no ordinary score , it's extremely special , actually special too is an understatement , watching this video with the headphones on takes one to another world from where we would like stay put forever
Quelle scène magnifique entre ces deux acteurs fabuleux !! Et la musique de John Barry est une pure merveille
The piece of music is wonderful in this scene
I quote
Henry Kielarowski
For me, one of the most moving and gorgeous scenes in film history. I would love to exit this world in an open cockpit plane on a beautiful day surrounded by nature's work holding the hand of the one I love. Ahhh. The 1929 De Havilland Gipsy Moth used here is now up for auction. It will go on sale at the Grand Palais in Paris on February 6.
But it was well worth the wait. Hello from America to my Kiwi friends in New Zealand. Take care.
Best photography & fabulous movie.
Soaring strings, mellifluous horns, John Barry, composer supreme,
Superimposed over African landscapes, almost a surrealist dream.
The backdrop of mountains with rivers cascading as, sparkling, they fall into space
Can almost bring tears to the eye while detecting those plaintive heartbreaking displays
Of glorious sweeping, towering arpeggios, descriptive perfection is heard
To compliment exquisite, vast panoramas, as if through the eye of a bird.
That imposing, solitary, breathtaking beauty as wings traverse over the plain,
Enhanced by the glorious expansive melodic cadences in perfect refrain,
Give all who encountered this maestro's artistry a genuine sense of emotion,
Which always enhances, increases the pleasure experienced beyond all proportion.
And though he is gone, his music lives on in our memories, always to treasure,
For which we give thanks to this Yorkshire lad whose genius has given such pleasure.
❤
i love africa ..i was born in sierra leone west africa..african weather so lovely
An act of pure love, Serpensliber, like when you rescued me...
They forgot to add the part when she's stepping into the plane when she says...."when did you learn to fly"? Redford: "Yesterday"......
Perhaps the most beautiful scene in film history......
That is in another TH-cam clip.
Merci pour cette superbe vidéo ! Out Of Africa est mon film préféré et Robert Refort mon acteur préféré !
J'ai mis aussi une vidéo de Out Of Africa sur ma chaine

Great movie but NOT a great love story. The three men in her life were despicable. The first took her virginity which was important in those day and then dumped her, the second a "friend" married her for her money, invested in something he had zero interest in and zero plans to make successful, cheated on her, and gave her syphilis just to name a few and then the third lover boy he was the best one of all...............he would "bootie call" her every once and a while when he felt like it, never kept in contact with her in between his visits, and when he did drop in she was too thoroughly entertain him with good food, good wine, amazingly deep stories which she would have to think up while he was away, keep the conversation pleasant and uplifting at ALL times and too be finished off with a roll in the hay.............he must of saved thousands from attending the local hotel to rent a room, brothel for sex, restaurant for food and bar for drinks................oops and the theatre for entertainment. Please ladies wake up.
Was this inspired by Taylor swift wildest dream?
